Roberts had another solid game, a Premier League debut against the Champions no less.
What's impressed me the most about him is his consistency. He's not done anything outstanding yet, but hasn't made any mistakes of note, and has shown plenty of enterprise and movement going forwards, along with some good deliveries into the box. His appearances to date are very reminiscent of Ben Davies when he first came into the Swansea side - unspectacular but reliable and showing steady progress. Youngsters typically blow hot and cold due to inexperience, so consistent performances at a young age suggest maturity - and augurs well for the future.
Naughton needs competition at right back - and with a bit of luck Roberts will be providing it next season whichever division Swansea are in. God knows, there are plenty of other areas that need strengthening more in the Swansea squad.

Hopefully get more games next season but still a long way behind Gunter for me. No offence but at this moment you would have to have just the one leg to still be a long way behind Gunter!! The guy doesn't offer anything anymore apart from passing the ball backwards. I would rather now have an up and coming Premier League youngster in the squad than a player who has had his day and could be playing League One football next season. Let's be real here, Gunter is close to being our most capped player ever and you would rather a player with one premiership appearance (taken off) who couldn't get a game at Middlesbrough. Hopefully Roberts can provide a more consistent challenge than Matthews or Richards, both of whom have been highly touted on here.

If he's even half the player Super Ben is, we'll have another gem on our hands.

90 minutes in the PL today. Anyone see how he got on?

Another very solid display, especially defensively. Put in a couple of decent crosses too. He should get good game time next season regardless of which league Swansea are playing in. Swansea desperately need to strengthen in a number of areas, so I can't see there being any cash being available for an alternative full back.
Wales Online have him down as their star man, with a 7 out of ten - which is probably right.

90 minutes in the PL today. Anyone see how he got on? only managed to see the first half and totally agree with alarch Connor put in a great defensive show and his tackling and dogged determination to win the ball, were impressive. He also has great lower body strength and wonderful agility. Watch this space

If Connor Roberts starts again tonight and carries on his form, then surely he'll be pushing for the Welsh no.2 shirt? Hope Giggs is there tonight... ......................................... Connor Roberts: Swansea full-back trying to put emotion to one side www.bbc.com/sport/football/44032631Swansea City's Connor Roberts says he cannot dwell on emotions as he battles for his hometown club's survival. Wales international Roberts is the only locally-born player in Carlos Carvalhal's current Swansea side. The Swans find themselves in the bottom three ahead of their "massive" game against a Southampton side who sit above them on goal difference alone. "I love this club and I hope we can do it, but we have to perform," said the 22-year-old Swansea academy product. Full-back Roberts made his Premier League debut in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last weekend and was also in the side that lost to Bournemouth to the same scoreline. "For me personally, I can't think about the fans or that I'm a local boy, I just have to go out there, think of it as another game and play the best I can," said Roberts. "Of course (relegation crosses your mind), when you're sat at home you can think 'what if we got relegated from the Premier League?' "Especially for me, I'm a local boy and I definitely don't want that to happen, but I think if we don't perform and don't get those points then inevitably we deserve to not be here." Swansea have not won in their last seven outings, but finish the campaign with two home games, with already relegated Stoke coming to south Wales for Sunday's final day. "We can't be down about it," Roberts added. "No matter what anyone says we're still in this fight... it's always in our hands and where there's hope there's belief. "It's a massive game and we need the crowd behind us. We need to perform as well as we can because we're in a rut at the moment, but I'm sure the players will give everything they can for this club."

If he carries on developing the way he has next season then yeah, he definitely deserves a chance. Especially as Gunter is just treading water in a rubbish Reading side.

After 3 games lol. Think we need to wait and see where he is playing next season. He's played 10 times for Swansea this season. Plus a few games for Middlesbrough on loan. Clearly Swansea believe in him to play him in their biggest game of the season He looks like he will overtake Gunts pretty soon to me, from the games that I have seen in 2018

Have to say, as I commented in the other thread, I don't think he did very well in the first half. It will hopefully be a better performance from him now

He needs a full season of league football under his belt before overtaking Gunter

He got them because Malky/Moody had a mare that transfer window and didn't build a balanced squad. Roberts, from what I've seen, looks a better defender than Declan John, then and now. It remains to be see if he is better than Gunter as an all round RB/RWB. But Gunter needs to be pushed after his perhaps his poorest season. In Roberts defence (pun intended), I don't think he could have broken into the Swans side at a worse time given the pressure of the games. But I'm optimistic he will get more chances to prove himself at Swansea that Declan got at Cardiff. Let's hope so.

If we go along with that as the reason John got games then Roberts is getting games for the same reason as John did, Swansea's squad is a mess and their transfer policy has been poor in recent years leaving them with Kyle Naughton (shit) and Angel Rangel (ancient) as their options at right back

Don't get me wrong, I do understand what you are saying, but my opinion is that Swansea's current squad is anywhere near as flawed mis-balanced as Malky's PL squad, which was a disaster in some positions. Mackay's starting full backs on both sides looked to me to be obviously not good enough from pre-season, though that included the John Brayford calamity. I've made a point of watching John and Roberts when I can. I just think Roberts looks like an actual defender wheras Declan looks like he's been forced to be one. Roberts also seems more sure of himself, with, as you point out, less experience. I'm not saying I'm right, it's just how I see it right now. Roberts is still a bit of an unknown quantity. But hopefully he'll get well over 30 games in the championship next season and we'll see him progress. This relegation might actually be better for his development.

No comments on his performance against Mexico which for me showed he is not nearly ready for international football
If Gunter had a half like that everyone would be all over it. However, despite his limitations can't remember him having that bad a half.
Hopefully Roberts can play some regular championship football and get his experience there

I'm looking forward to see how Roberts does next season, he is a quality player - bright future ahead of him and he'll be pushing Gunter for that number 2 shirt.

Not sure if he's good enough personally, he's just as likely to go down the Adam Matthews route

Definitely Gunters biggest threat, however still some way behind for me.
Great that he is playing regularly and I can see him taking over from Gunter in 12 - 18 months if his progress continues

Another solid showing tonight, was up and down the pitch all game and looks to be growing in stature and confidence.
With Gunter lacking match fitness, young Roberts is likely to start in two weeks.

Agreed, although I think "solid" understates his contribution. Wales Online rated him a 9, which is closer to the mark. He was immaculate defensively (including a last ditch challenge near the end that preserved the point) - but was also very dynamic going forwards. Strangely enough he reminds me of Gunter. He certainly seems to have a good engine, and has a strong personality. His on-pitch interview after the Birmingham match (where he was one of the few Swansea players who performed) was very assured and confident for such a young player. Like with Rodon I've been a bit cautious in my assessment of Roberts - but that caution is being eroded with each passing game for Swansea. If Gunter fails to make the Nations League matches Roberts should be an able deputy. Should he shine it could give Giggs a tricky decision in relation to the right-back spot come the Euro qualifiers. It would be good to see Jazz Richards being given the chance to show his stuff for Cardiff to give Giggs a further selection headache.

Think you can forget about jazz for now. Wont start 5 league games for Cardiff this season.
Roberts is looking good and looks to be ahead of Matthews and Richards at the moment.

My only concern with Roberts is he is a lot weaker defensively than Gunter, although I really do only base that on watching him for 45 minutes in the Rose Bowl Stadium. He gives the winger too much space and backs of and backs off, it may have just been the fact we were under siege from that Mexican team but purely on a defensive aspect I really hope Gunter is fit
