Another excellent game today. This time as a wingback ahead of Naughton.
Great goal, again with his weaker left foot.

You've penned another song there manulike! 😉 Personally I thought Connor and Tyler would be the natural successors to Ash and Jonny in the Toure chant.

He played right wing v Ipswich with Naughton right back. To be honest it was a mistake I feel as I thought he was attacking like a defender if that makes sense.
Great as a fullback or wingback but leave the out and out wing play to the specialist forward players.

Yep, crazy to think only 12 months ago Gunter was pretty much untouchable at RB. Regarding the goals, I checked his wiki page for a laugh, and he's only scored 6 goals in his entire career. Roberts has half that in a few months.

Cracking finish. What the hell is he doing all the way up there? Connor ‘Total Football’ Roberts.

The talk on Twitter the other day was for playing Gunts on the left, instead of Davies. I only saw 70 minutes of Neil Taylor this evening, but I feel he is well and truly back to his old self again.

I think we’ll see Gunter make a token sub appearance against Denmark to allow him to get his record cap against Albania.
Then once the qualifiers proper start, it will Roberts all the way at right back.

Does Connor actually have a weak foot - scored tonight, as v ROI, with his left ;-)

Can't understand the cycle. How do we have so many players come through with Bale and Ramsey, 10 years of famine and then we strike gold again! This is sooooo exciting!

Lovely composed finish from Roberts, who has a phenomenal engine. But the assist from James was sublime - first a Balesque powerful run at the heart of the Rovers defence before sliding a perfectly weighted pass into Roberts' path. James could easily have had a hattrick tonight - if was able to consistently show the composure that he managed for Roberts' goal we would have a decent Bale clone on our hands. The assist should help give him that little bit of extra confidence he needs in the final third.

We need one of our clubs to yield a good crop to make up a large bulk of the squad. Cardiff did it about 10 years ago and now its Swansea's turn which is great. I do wonder though is it that the others (e.g. in the Cardiff U23s James, Lockyer, O Sullivan, Noor) were not good enough or were they not given a fair crack? I mean would these current Swansea kids have been given a go in the Premier league? I would say no. They could've easily got to 23/24 and never played a game only to end up in L2/conference.

I remember you throwing Potter's name into the mix to be Wales' new manager, looks like he will have a little hand in helping the future of Welsh football by bringing these young players through at Swansea. He knows that giving young Welsh boys an opporthnity will get the fans behind the team even more.

Connor quickly becoming my Welsh favourite player - works tirelessly, good going forward, looks comfortable on the ball, comes across well in interviews also and has recently been tweeting in Welsh I know what you mean. In many ways he's the perfect successor to Chris Gunter, if only because he shares so many of his attributes: most notably a terrific engine and strong, likeable personality. Roberts is a bit more rounded, especially with his distribution and goal threat, but Gunter will be around as a backup, at the very least, for a while yet. It would take a dip in form, or an injury, for Roberts to lose his place.

Just echoing everyone else's sentiments on here really. I've been very impressed with Roberts, not just his work rate and his performance in defence, but also with that superb goal at home against Ireland. He is showing the promise of becoming quite a versatile player (a bit like Ampadu in that respect). And what a down to earth, likeable young man to boot, who's clearly proud of playing for his country.

Could somebody put a team together with all the these promising youngsters as I'm struggling to keep up with all of those that are currently staking a claim. Could be a great few years being a welsh football fan.

Now that Joe has signed a new long term deal, is there any news about a new contract for Connor?
