You either missed the double header against Eire (h) and Germany (a) in 2007, or are a very hard chap to please. He was good in the former, excellent in the latter His best two matches for Wales to be honest I've seen, full of energy, full of running, full of enthusiasm bearing in mind the Ireland match was his 1st full cap! I wish him a speedy recovery! Ireland wasn't a full cap, he was an early substitute for Robinson I think. Germany was his full debut

Well, that's the problem - I did see both matches, and he was decent in both, but that was four years ago! Where's he been since?

he reminds me of robbie savage with his energy/enthusiasm,but like savage it concerns me that he might be over doing it by trying to cover each and every blade of grass, poor lad usually runs out of puff half way through the 2nd half
i think we could get him to slot into a defensive midfield role and it would work quite well IMO
we would lose his forward runs but with ramsay and co pushing on i dont think it would be that much of a problem?

Also played well vs Russia away. Pretty sure it was he who came off having run himself into the ground with the score 1-1 with about 15 minutes left. I don't think I need to mention who his replacement was (already the most notorious subsitution in Welsh football history?)

Edwards had to come off and that fat **** had a choice of a straight swap for Stock, or go 3 at the back and disrupt our shape/marking. Hmm............

He looked good v Russia but I think he has paid for being one of the only buggers to turn up to play in that friendly in Croatia, he wasnt that great in that game and hasnt really had a look in since. Much like Dorman (although Dorman did manage to play against Scotland)

Steve Evans was brought on for Edwards in the 77th minute, 4 mins later Russia got a second goal. When Evans was brought on Robinson had already been replaced by Ricketts, so there were Gunter, Morgan, Williams, Bale, Fletcher and Ricketts on the pitch to which was added Steve Evans. That's 6 back liners and a defensive midfielder - lunacy. The players shouldn't be blamed, they were doing extremely well. Toshack and Evans wrecked it. When Arshavin crossed Morgan was in position to deal with it, except that Steve Evans was standing in the way. Evans actually stepped back from it and blocked Morgan even more thoroughly. The team we had that day was very weak, much weaker than we could put out now, which shows what could be acheived. It also shows that we've gone backwards in three years even though we have a bigger and stronger squad.

I came away from the pub after the game with Russia feeling a bit like I did after the Romania game in '93... consumed with frustration.. I know circumstances weren't as dramatic, but it felt like a masive opportunity blown. A draw in Moscow for that young, understrength team against the Euro 2008 semi-finalists could have been a massive result in that qualifying group....

....has taken all of 3 minutes to score on his Wolves comeback!
Loving all these options in midfield. When was the last time we had so many top flight midfielders?

Replaced on 46 mins according to BBC. Anyone know if that was due to an injury or just tactics?
Delighted for Edwards, I like him as a player a lot, terrific player. He's Robbie Savage with a brain and without a gob. His goal sounded typically Edwards too - quickest to react to a spilled ball in the box. Look forward to seeing him back for Wales soon.

Providing he plays for Wolves, he'll be a good option in the squad - although I don't ever see him as being part of a first choice Idea.

Started upfront. Seems to be a good thing. We need a striker.

I think he can play wide right in a 4-5-1 or as a second striker in a 4-4-1-1. So very much a useful player to have around with Bellamy's injury problems and international career (presumeably) winding down.
I think especially for away games in future he could be a very useful player. Our 4-3-3 will probably become a more defensive 4-5-1 when we go away to places like Croatia and Serbia. Edwards workrate, energy and eye for goal are all massive attributes.

Was very good on Saturday. I hope to see him involved against Mexico in under four weeks. Had a good tussle with Joe Allen, Allen got the better of him 1st half, but not the second.

Good player. Not technically the best, but makes up for it with workrate, stamina and goal getting ability. Cracking attitude too. If Ramsey gives the trip to New York a miss (entirely possible given that he's had a long hard season for the Arse, although I hope not) maybe Edwards could be given a go 'in the hole' as part of a central midfield 3 just ahead of Allen/Ledley or Collison/Vaughan?
Is the championship play off final the same weekend as the Mexico game? So if its say, Cardiff vs Brum , we'd be without Myhill, Blake, Earnie and Turner (if he wants to play for Wales). I can easily see Ramsey and Bale missing this one too(hope I'm wrong) so we could line up with a team thats something like this:
.......................Price Gunter....Williams...Ricketts...Taylor ..............Allen......Ledley ..................Edwards Robson-Kanu.................Bellamy?? ...................Morison

I thought the players agreed to travel to America & play because the FAW agreed to only have the one friendly, or something along those lines, so I hope they do play, and the GB players get injured. ! I'm a big fan of Edwards. I think he'll have a big part to play in wc qualifying should he stay injury free of course.

Perhaps it's more like this: I think he has a lot of attributes - the kind that should appeal to better teams - but no one has taken a chance on him, and as such he hasn't had the better coaching/setup that will take him to his potential.

Part of the problem is that he seems quite injury prone. That probably puts other teams off.

Just been looking at the reports of Wolves' start to the championship, and Edwards is back as a regular starter. Always put in a shift for Wales, and did have some pace - not sure if he still has?
Imo, If he remains fit an uninjured, he's worthy of a squad place over Vaughan, Collison, Taylor and a few others in midfield. I'd put him on a par with Huws, King and Ledley if he shows the same form he once did for us. He was always pretty enthusiastic and bright in midfield.
Was he on standby for the latest squad?
