I've got nothing against the guy but I personally wouldn't rate him alongside Huws, King or Ledley ability wise. I would imagine that he's probably lost a yard of pace due to injuries etc. I think we should look to the future not back towards the past. Maybe his teammate Lee Evans would be a better shout as I think he's starting regularly too!

David Edwards in the same class as King, Huws and Ledley? Dear god.

May be only 28 which isn't ancient but is he going to improve? Are we struggling for numbers in midfield? Is he better than what we have in the squad?

David Edwards in the same class as King, Huws and Ledley? Dear god. Granted, Huws has not been capped enough to compare maybe. But he is a better option than King. He also provides a better attacking option than Ledley, and has a much more direct approach to his game. For example, if we're struggling with injuries and we were using this formation he'd be better suited in this position than Ledley or King, and possibly even HRK. -----------Allen-----Huws/Ledley-------- J Williams-------Ramsey--------Edwards --------------------Bale------------------- www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2014/07/21/dave-edwards-given-licence-to-thrill-at-wolves/

Always rated him as a player so it was good to see him back whether he played or not. But I thought he was excellent. Hasn't got the credit he deserved. Good little interview here youtu.be/R2sAiW0Mgvs

I've been stating in a few threads over the past few weeks he should be called up. Glad to see he's back in the squad, on top form for Wolves. Did really well after coming on, slotted in nicely, and gave us more shape in midfield. I would prefer to see him starting over say King for example.

This morning's report:
"Edwards looks like being out for some time after hobbling off with knee ligament damage with just 14 minutes gone".
However he did walk off by all accounts so he might be ok having just had a bad knock.

A good servant to Welsh football, if we got to a finals I would hope he is one of the first on the plane- he has turned up and put a shift in during some pretty dark times.

Very harsh on Edwards in this thread I feel. Hes still doing the business at championship level in a competitive squad, who would have thought that at the start of the thread? I really hope hes in involved at the finals. Obviously will struggle to get on the pitch, but a worthy squad player and a guy who has been loyal through some shit times. Good luck to him.

To be English born and bred and to always turn out for Wales when we are struggling against minnows and conceding goals for fun against half decent teams - he should be entitled to the upside when we come good when he is a decent enough squad player himself. Everyone is going to want to play for Wales in the good times - European Championships will provide a great platform for players to market themselves, but you learn more about players when times are hard. PS - Likewise Ashley Williams. Can Wales ask for a better captain? A born and bred Englishman but someone committed to the cause 101% and never goes missing in games.

There was praise for him in the Cyprus match thread but he deserves one of his own.
Only 32 minutes of international football in 3 years and he puts in two terrific performances like that. Ledley should be a bit worried for his shirt

I keep saying it, but hes a great servant. Although there is nothing too sentimental about it as he actually offers us something when he plays unlike Church who has also been a great servant during lean times but who sadly doesn't ha e that goal threat.
Edwards has that knack of the late run that gets him on on the end of opportunities. Ledley is probably better in a defensive sense whilst Edwards offers us an attacking option that isn't Bale, we have far too few of those as it is so he should be in Coleman's plans from here on.

Played well in both games and showed great stamina - was still sprinting back in his own half to regain possession in injury time yesterday.

I though our shape and passing was actually incredibly impressive during the game and Edwards was one of the biggest contributors to that. We used to look quite disjointed, even when we got a win, but we actually have shape now and the players have an understanding, the type I used to envy in other teams we played.

His previous full cap was the 6-1 in Serbia for what it's worth. Was withdrawn at half time in that game

I agree that Edwards did well, and there's not much between them in terms of ability. In fact I put King in this bracket too, there's little to choose between the three of them. All are capable of sitting deep. All have decent engines. All can get to the opposition box and score if given license. All are relatively mature players unlikely to improve much further.
But none of the three are anywhere near top class. The only one playing regular premiership football is the one most on here seem to rate the least.
I don't think that choosing anyone one of these three over the others to play alongside will change the equation of many matches we play in. It's much of a muchness.
So what we need to be hoping is that there is a top-class CM coming through that will be able to partner Allen and make a significant difference to our side. Is that Emyr Huws or Jordan Williams? Or is it Joniesta playing in Ramsey's position, and Ramsey dropping deeper to partner Allen? We shall see.

He was all over the pitch (in a good way). I've been banging on about Edwards for the past couple of years. He's had a few injuries which have ruled him out at times, but he's been excluded by Coleman far too many times in my opinion. Like I've said many times previously on this forum, a much better option than King / Huws / Vaughan.
I'm not sure if he has been injured, but to think we've been calling up the likes of Macdonald, Jake Taylor, Lee Evans, and Gwion Edwards over him is madness.

Or is it Joniesta playing in Ramsey's position, and Ramsey dropping deeper to partner Allen? I think this would be more advantageous.

I have found a new found love for Dave - loved watching him and he seemed a lot more comfortable than king on the ball...
Thought King looked lost at times
