Yeah, Coleman does come across as a decent guy. Any news on the Giggs situation? We have two weeks left until the qualifiers and if they don't do anything i'm guessing they want to keep Giggs on and think he isn't guilty.

Squad announcement on the 15th I believe so should be getting more information around then. I expect Page to be in charge for these ones

In an interesting turns of events, Chris Coleman has reportedly applied to be the next manager of TNS & is on the shortlist!

If Giggs can't do it, then I'd have Mark Hughes back. Didn’t he jump ship with Wales at the first opportunity

Sorry the thread title was meant to be "Bring Coleman back??" - I'm tired. Not for me thanks, he has been sacked from every other management position that he has held, He walked away from Wales chasing the money and thats the price you pay.

Chris Coleman in contention for the Ireland job. Great move for him at £600k a year if it comes off after a disastrous club manager career. Has same feel when he got the Wales job with Fergusson as their Bale equivalent. Decent squad and great Nations league group with England involved. Can't see them qualifying for anything until 2028 but good luck to Coleman.

Wouldn't have thought that the average Irish fan would be too impressed with that appointment? Obviously there's 2016 and all that but how much of that was down to CC is debatable. Aside from that, hasn't exactly set the coaching world alight? Also think that the Irish have a pretty dim view of the Welsh when it comes to sport! Suppose they've gone down the Irish coach route and the European name route and now they're reverting to a Charltonesque tub thumper.

I don't think he'll do anything with them, Ferguson alone isn't enough and I can imagine fans would turn on him very quickly if they start to struggle. Decent money for him though so can't blame him for taking it, Wales aside he's been a crap manager really.

Not sure it would be a bad appointment from an Irish perspective. International football requires a slightly different skillset to club football. There's much more consistency season to season in terms of personnel, so the need for man management is heightened whilst recruitment is obviously much less of a need. There's arguably less of a need for strong tacticians too, with much less time during international windows to do anything innovative. They have the personnel to be competitive and have undoubtedly underperformed in recent years, so I'd back Coleman to get more out of them

Obviously he can do whatever he wants and whatever he needs to do, but if he plays against Wales it's going to hurt.
It's like being forced to watch your ex being happy in their new relationship with your neighbour.

Add in Greece who are generally a solid outfit as the 4th seed and that's a pretty disastrous group There is definitely a decent international side in there, but I don't think they're as good as they've been made out to be previously by some on here

They'd probably be better than us and Scotland if Grealish and Rice had carried on being Irish, the Nations League is going to be interesting.

Out of the running now apparently.
Expect the appointment of Jose Mourinho, Sam Allardyce or David O'Leary presently then.

Didn't realise he had an Irish Father so there would have been a bit of a connection there.
His man management and ability to build team spirit is what brought us success in 2016 but none of that transferred over to his job at Sunderland which was a complete disaster. In fact, apart from his success with us, he doesn't really have a lot to boast about in his management career.
