I like the sound of that although Dan James is ahead of Brennan for me right now, he has the shirt and Brennan needs to try and do enough to get it off him. I think Brennan has done more than enough to get it off James, he's had a much better season than him, has played way more games, and is just overall a better player They're very different players. The main thing James has got going for him is that he almost always has an impact for us, through his workrate if nothing else. Johnson can be guilty of 'ghosting' games, so there's an argument to say James would be a better pick against the better sides. That said, it doesn't have to be an either/or and having lost Bale, we probably want Johnson's goal threat every time we play. Ultimately, it's just nice to see us having so many options that we can alternate. I'd personally keep the same system as the last double header and start with a front three of Brennan/Wilson/Moore against Armenia and then swap James for Wilson against Turkey. The former gives us the most quality and goalscoring threat, so if it clicks we can expect to have far too much for Armenia. The two concerns for me though would be that a) both Brennan and Wilson enjoy playing off the right, so I'm not sure how comfortable either one would be on the left and b) Wilson is another one who ghosts games far too often. He hasn't done that as much for club and country recently, so I think he deserves to keep his spot. But if Wilson and Johnson both have one of their quiet games, we're obviously going to struggle. The other thing is we all know how much Page likes James and Page has spoken a lot about the learning from the WC where he wants to see a lot more energy in the side. James offers that more than anyone else, so Page might be tempted to start him in both games.

I hear you but I still rate James and think he does a lot of work that goes unnoticed. I think the time is coming for Brennan but if you sat me down at a table right now and asked me what I wanted at present it would be the same as the last game, where James put in a beautiful cross for the only goal of the game. So at present James has the shirt for me, he played in the last two games while Brennan, for whatever reason, wasn't available.
Edit - This was in reply to Allezlesrouges

Edit - This was in reply to Allezlesrouges I can see an argument between James and Wilson, at present I'm 50-50 on it and like you say James played well in the last game, he's also started to get some minutes for Fulham recently as well. But then again so has Wilson, and Wilson has been getting amongst the goals more regularly than James recently when both have been played My personal preference would be Wilson-Moore-Brennan at the moment, but if James is ahead of Wilson then I'd go for Brennan-Moore-James, no way Brennan doesn't start for me. It's nice to have a choice between 3 players who are currently in the Premier League to be fair

A goal and an assist in their pre-season friendly against Brentford today

A lot of people raving about the goal, it was a classic Wilson effort. He's gone blonde now as well so stands out on the pitch a bit more

He was in pretty good form at the end of last season, and yet very ineffective when it came to our double-header. To be fair, he was one of our best players against Latvia in the preceding window. I just think it shows that we should only play him on the right and should only play one of him and Johnson. I'm concerned that Page won't be prepared to bench one of them, thereby leaving us as imbalanced as we were against Armenia.

For my money Johnson is the better player and we should be starting him, Wilson can be a good option from the bench

He seems to be in and out of the starting XI but seems to be doing well whether he starts or not, which is a good thing and probably means he's unlikely to be over-worked come playoff time

Off with a shoulder injury just before half time against Newcastle in the Cup. Didn't look like a dislocation so fingers crossed it's not a major concern.
IMHO head and shoulder above anyone else on the pitch in the first half.

Great to see so many of our players either assisting or scoring today.

Being rightly praised for his performance last night but what's also pleasing to me is that he seems to be increasing in maturity also. Had a tendency in the past to take too much on, go to ground far too easily and to come over as a bit petulant. Think he's thriving in the post Bale environment and probably feels now that he's one of the team leaders and one of the first two or three names on the team sheet. What summed it it up for me was Neco's goal. There's no way Harry wouldn't have gone for goal himself a year or two back whereas Neco was the better option from that position and Harry played his part in the deception. Would have been easy for Harry to fall by the wayside but he's worked at his game, his mobility and his attitude and he's reaping the benefits. Hope he gets the odd game as captain. He deserves it.

He was always in Bale’s shadow, now he’s the daddy in the final third. Along with Ampadu, he’s a guaranteed starter for a long time to come.

my player of the match... thought he was great. like the post says... he showed a lot of leadership qualities last night and was a threat all game. my only surprise was when he didnt score his chance in the 2nd half. i fully expected him to have buried that in the corner.

I think he's been stepping up since coming off the bench against Ukraine in the play-offs.
Good performance from him last night again.

Becoming a brilliant player for us but his temperament still worries me.
Last night he was on a yellow but he was berating the ref just before he got subbed with us two or three goals to the good. Could easily have picked up a second yellow and put himself out of the final. Really would like to see him mature a bit.

Hooked after 33 minutes against Forest this evening. Together with another two other attackers. To be fair, Forest were up 2-0 and went up 3-0 at the stroke of half time. Match ended 3-1. Neco was superb - really put his body on the line a few times.

Reading some of their fans' tweets, they're not impressed at all with him - accusing him of putting in 5 non-performances for every good one. I used to think that about him, but he's been far more consistent for us over the last couple of years. Still, it's another reality check for fans who think we currently have a golden generation that are being let down by the manager, considering Wilson's probably been our best player recently.
