It's gone a bit under the radar because of how well he's played for us, but his starts for Fulham have become increasingly rare, and quite often he doesn't get on the pitch at all now
Wonder if he needs a January move? He's clearly a PL level player so a club like Palace might be a good fit for him

He's clearly a PL level player so a club like Palace might be a good fit for him Yeah he’s definitely fallen down the pecking order. Trouble is, I suspect the whole idea of him moving to Fulham was to be one of their main players at what was then a Championship side, with a view of being an important player once they got promoted and established themselves as a mid-low Premier League team. That’s the profile of club he’s targeted. The first part of the plan worked well, but having spent more than 2 years in the Prem now with Fulham an established lower league side, they’ve felt the need to upgrade. And when you look at what he’s produced for them you can see why, he just doesn’t influence games enough and is far too inconsistent at that level. I suspect he would be in a similar situation at Palace or any other club of a similar profile. Think the reality is he’s a fantastic Championship and international-level player, but not quite cut out for the Premier League which is obviously a much higher level.

I think he should go abroad. France, Italy, Spain, Germany etc.
He's a top flight level player, he's probably better suited to other countries top flights though.

Think the reality is he’s a fantastic Championship and international-level player, but not quite cut out for the Premier League which is obviously a much higher level. I think he is good enough for the Premier League in the right system. But it's hard to be a perennial mid table club, most clubs are either looking to move up the ladder or cash in. So sometimes like in Wilson's case, it looks like Fulham have thought we can upgrade on him. Doesn't mean he couldn't do a job for another Prem club. But you're right, maybe it would take joining a big club in the league below that plays a good system just to re-establish himself in the Prem. It's a hard balancing act But once thing's for certain he needs more minutes than he is currently getting

Yeah I think you are right, can see him doing well abroad Yeah, I think a club in the Bundesliga or Ligue 1 could be a really good fit where there’s more time on the ball - think his international form would translate into club football in that context.

The forgotten man of Welsh football, James Wilson has scored tonight.
He made his one and only Wales appearance in the same game where Harry Wilson came on for 30 seconds.
Unbelievably eleven years ago!!

Future Wales Captain?

I think so yes. Now on double figures for goals and approaching 60 caps. Has 5 goals in his last 15 games for us, so he's our most consistent forward at the moment in terms of output. He also has 4 assists across that same 15 game run, so he's definitely stepping up I imagine Ampadu will be the next captain after Ramsey & Davies, but if Ampadu isn't around for games around that time I could see Wilson being captain for a bit

11 goals & 10 assists in 58 caps. Really coming into his own now And he's going to get alot more from now on. I thought his link up play especially with Brooks was great last night, it was no surprise that we tailed off when they both went off.

He was a bit lucky on both goals tbf, but I'll say this for him he seems to have really matured and looks in top form.

He was a bit lucky on both goals tbf, but I'll say this for him he seems to have really matured and looks in top form. The second goal was lucky, albeit he made a good run to put himself into a good position to score. First goal he'd probably struggle to score that 1 times in 20 attempts. So could be seen as lucky, but then the same could be said of most spectacular goals. He definitely intended to send it goalwards so the fact he hit the jackpot is all credit to him. His back header against Croatia would also have had a very low xG. It's a good habit to be lucky...

You make your own luck. He made two excellent runs for the goals and did what he had to do to score

Am I misremembering or didn’t he even admit in his post match interview that there was luck involved?

Am I misremembering or didn’t he even admit in his post match interview that there was luck involved? With the second he implied as much, which isn't surprising given it went in off his shoulder.
