I would 100% put him the the next squad. If were building towards the next world cup, this kid could be important. I just hope the coaching staff are aware he has scored in his last two games for Liverpool. I think the coaching staff - Osian Roberts in particular - will be well aware of his performances in pre-season.

Tweeted by Neil Roberts, the legend behind "Dragon Soccer"....
dragonsoccer @dragonsoccer58 2h2 hours ago Ben Woodburn no longer eligible for Wales u17s. Next competitive u19 matches are in November, could be fast tracked into the u21s #wal

Liverpool forum I just read saying he is going to be a huge star.....rush/Fowler/Owen type finishing all in one...and only 16.

May need to take the afternoon off work to see him in Newport, then ... ... And seeing Iceland will bring back great memories of a fantastic evening in Nice ;-)

I can't do the Sunday game otherwise I'd get down there. Shame these games are often daytime kick offs

Yes I think it was.
Hopefully our prayers for a clinical finisher may be over with Woodburn emerging.
No more countless threads about Bradshaw & Churchy.
Truly exciting times ahead if these youngsters all come through.
We are the next Belgium (but better of course)

Woodburn is highly rated. I personally think he will be in the squad by the time Serbia away arrives. Wilson is captain also and signed a new contract so they must see something in him only worry there is he went on.loan last year and didn't get that much praise. But if we can get Woodburn firing it may be a great think

Goals on here. twitter.com/AcademyLFC?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwIn hindsight it could have been an ideal opportunity to call Woodburn up for the Moldova game given that Ramsey was out injured. The woodburner will make his Liverpool first team debut this season if he keeps on performing like this.

Does anyone know how tall Ben Woodburn is? He is still only 16, and already looks taller than Wilson (at 19) - but that isn't difficult as he is only 5ft7' :-(

Without wishing to rain on everyone's parade, I hate threads like this. He's a 16 year old Anglo for fuck sake, can we stop pinning our hopes on boys who may not even opt for us?
Let him work his way up the system without the pressure of being our "next big thing", else he'll turn into the new Simon Church. We saw how excited everyone got when Lawrence scored a couple of goals for United U21, since then he's been loaned 4 times in the last 2 years.

Whilst I get where you're coming from to a certain extent. His Twitter feed has Welsh stuff over it and he's friends with all his u21 Wales team mates. Yes he is only 16 but his performances against players mostly 6 or 7 years his senior are really sticking out. Our lack of true attacking prowess (except for Bale and Ramsey) means we will look for the next big thing in younger players. At the end of the day, Giggs (and I know he wasn't committed) made his debut at 17 and stayed there so if they're good enough let them play. I am disappointed with Wilson and perhaps that is causing your concern with Woodburn but we will only know when we see him play for us. Speaking of Wilson, he's seems to be keeping pace with Woodburn. I can't remember which apostle it was but they reported that Wilson was behaving a little petulantly so maybe that's why he didn't break through at Crewe. Woodburn does look the real deal though.

They all look the real deal for the first few months, then like a rocket on bonfire night, they fizzle out. We shouldn't be discussing the potential of players before they break into the U21's, as that gives us a true glimpse at their future career with us.

Agree but Woodburn is a very special talent scored one and assisted three more last night. Highlights from last night. Wilson scores first/Woodburn scoring a very good second goal. twitter.com/AcademyLFC?ref_src=twsrc%5EtfwI would like to see both Wilson & Woodburn drafted into the full international squad immediately, a front line of Bale/Ramsey Wilson/Woodburn would strike fear into many teams.

You do realise that if threads discussing and enthusing about Wales most talented youth team players are not your thing you can just click on others?

We absolutely can discuss the potential of players before they break into the under 21's. We have several threads in this area. If they don't make it then it's a shame but it's still exciting when someone like Woodburn comes along.

Just made his debut. Second youngest ever LFC player. Wow that's brilliant!
