Swansea is a perfect team for Joniesta who is a perfect player for Swansea. I wonder if Garry Monk is aware of Jonny Williams' talent? You'd hope someone at the club is. Then again Laudrup signed David Ngog in January If he is as indifferent about the Welsh team as the club sometimes is, maybe he is not. I still believe that had the bigest mistake of the season was not signing him, where it be on loan or permanent. Monk would do well to think about the impression that signing Joniesta could make, especially for us Swans fans who are passionate about Wales.

No club manager cares about the national team which also applies to the majority of their supporters, hence the reason for shit attendances.
Lawrence did very well at Yeovil in what was very difficult circumstances

Roberto Martinez was very respectful of Welsh Football and made numerous references to seeing certain players as future Welsh internationals. I took it up with Huw Jenkins last year the indifference that the club has and cited the excitement about Michu getting a Spanish cap (which I understood and support) but the silence on the outstanding full debut of Jazz Richards out in Belgium along with silence on the youth achievements and the fact that some Swans players were part of that. I was impressed by his answer and acknowledgements. Michael Laudrup was indifferent in my view. I am one of those that does care whether Monk or any other Swansea manager treats Welsh Football with respect.

Starting for United tonight. Shocker! This says more about United's wingers than Lawrence. Collectively they have been poor this season. I hope Lawrence seizes his chance big time.

Big moment for him. Van Gaal prefers working with youngsters and will be watching this game...

Plenty of confidence running at the opposition, looks like a good talent!!
Hopefully he'll get regular football at Championship/Premiership level next season and be part of our Euro campaign!
Next Welsh debut?

Well done Ryan Giggs for giving him his debut.
Agree he will not get the headlines but he was impressive he is always looking for space, when to make runs & lay the ball off.
Lawrence has had a big turnaround in his fortunes this season, out on loan to lower league teams to premiership debut
Well done

I think someone off a United forum said it best:
"Van Gaal is probably wanking himself to death with a player of that potential. He can improve him big time."

Lawrence, Isgrove and Huws are seemingly the big prizes emerging from this crop so far.

Not that he gets much of a chance at U21 level. Not sure how often and for which team he plays behind the scenes at Liverpool

Not sure how often and for which team he plays behind the scenes at Liverpool Yeah he's been unlucky, his last two games for the U21's were the 5-1 hammering in Bangor and the 1-0 defeat to San Marino, Connor Roberts came in afterwards and hasn't really done anything wrong. However from what I've seen of Ward he's a good prospect, on his day he has a good presence in the box, he's very vocal, commanding and strong. He has a squad number with Liverpool (52) and is currently listed in their 'A' side, I think he's mostly in the reserve squad these days. Loan in 14/15 perhaps?

Van Gaal does love developing young talent - Kluivert, the de Boers, Litmanen and loads more at Ajax, the likes of Müller and Badstuber at Bayern... I'm quite excited about the prospect of him coaching a talented young Welsh player like Lawrence.

Ward is only coming back from a big injury recently judging from his tweets, been out a few months I think.

Will surely then be included in the squad for the Holland game.

Did Hennessey a world of good going to Stockport a while back

It will be interesting to see if playing for Yeovil in the Championship has improved Tom's all round game. I think Manchester United have been right to send him on loan and to see him develop physically by playing rather than bulking up in the gym. Perhaps he hasn't set the world alight at Yeovil but surely that was a very big ask. He does however seem to have remembered by Giggs, praised by the Yeovil manager and Osian Roberts on twitter so I would say he's heading in the right direction. It would be nice to see him tear through the England u21 defence in just over a week. That would really announce him on the footballing stage.

Van Gaal, who will offer Ryan Giggs a senior role on his new United staff, stated he always retains a coach from the previous regime. "When I go to a new club, I always want to keep one coach from the existing staff and that person [at Bayern] was Herman Kerland, who is still working under Pep Guardiola. I wanted to know who was coming through the youth system – and he is the man who said to me: 'Muller, Badstuber and Alaba. These are the players.' www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/12/louis-van-gaal-philosophy-manchester-unitedSo will Giggs say Lawrence is 'one of the players' at Man Utd?

Terrific dribbling ability, pace and great composure for the goal, all evident in that display. Also good work ethic. But also, unsurprisingly, looked a bit raw at times. Hopefully, a season long loan at a top Championship side, or perhaps even a Premier League outfit, would do him the world of good. Can't seem him getting much game time at United, apart from the Capitol One cup perhaps.
