Be interesting to see how he gets on, as far I know he didn't do to much at Blackburn but with they striker it was always going to be hard but saying that had over 20 games

As Trollope and to a lesser extent Margetson are both on Wales and Cardiff payroll could it be that he has joined Cardiff to improve his chances of making the Euro 16 squad?

Do Cardiff know he is Welsh?

My facebook post 1 minute ago:
''Rumours are about at Cardiff City that Tom Lawrence's loan deal has been cut short after the management discovered that he is in fact Welsh.
A spokesperson later claimed that playing Lawrence would ''seriously damage the clubs policy on transfers and fielding legitimate players, whilst also bringing into question the ethos of the club.''

One thing that might just get me more interested in city again would be a few Welsh youngsters in the line up Not holding my breath on that one but this is a good start

Declan John actually started games in the premier league! Now he is playing with the under 21's again. That to me says he is at the very least, good enough to start some Championship games and ALL the cup ties. I've given up on Cardiff as they are not even testing these kids. How do we know they are 'not good enough' if they have never been given the opportunity???

Cardiff have been spending beyond their means for 10+ years now Despite Sam's failing at least he tried to bring a Welsh identity to Cardiff and signed a number of Welsh players The current regime (yes, regime) are a joke The only positive of this embargo is the potential that young Welsh players are given a chance I beleive Slade's contract is up at then end of the year. If he is to be replaced please let it be someone who trusts in youth such as O'Sullivan and John instead of over inflated wages (and egos?) such as Fabio and Macheda, both reported to be on £20k+ per week

Can't remember who signed him (cork?) but getting an average right wing Gabbidon and converting him into an excellent sweeper was pure genius. Him and Collins together were the best CB pairing I've seen down there in my lifetime. Both local(ish) boys so they must be there somewhere waiting to come through.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up, including our "expert" pundits (btw, if anyone has, sorry I've missed it).
Against Andorra, Lawrence played on the left wing and did very well. Everyone said it was only Andorra but then he started against the Dutch in the same position and did even better. The prospect of him on wing whilst every other team marked Bale off the pitch seemed very good.
But against NI, he played central midfield and was ineffective. Then again against Ukraine he played as a forward where he was again ineffective. So what is his position?
Now he’s getting a hell of a lot of criticism from and fans and pundits and judging by his body language when he came off yesterday, he’s now low on confidence. If he’s a winger, why the hell was he moved out of his position?
It kinda reminds me of when Ramsey at a very young age was moved all over the pitch and was pretty much useless, resulting in non-stop criticism.
So did Coleman get this all wrong?

Interesting post mate.
I'd love him to be a winger for us. He's got pace and skill.
Perhaps it is just too crowded for him in the middle.
However, I think he might have blown it in these two games.
Would still take him over Church regardless but not sure Coleman will.

I'm pretty sure he started as a lone forward against the Netherlands, rather than winger.
He got bullied by Ukraine's defence and NI crammed everyone behind the ball and was very difficult for him to find space.
He's not a midfielder - either needs to be up top playing off striker or out on the wing. But was disappointing over the two games.
I feel he still offers more than Vokes/Church, and fits in better with the current 'Welsh style of play'.

Agree very much that he looks short on self belief. Things just weren't coming off for him over these two games.
I would not dismiss Tom's chances for France based on the minutes he got in these games. He has something. I hope he hits form for Cardiff and gives Cookie something to think about...

Yeah I think he's running low on confidence. He was at man utd loaned to Leicester linked to Valencia ended up at Blackburn. That probably effects some players more than imagine. Let's hope he works hard proves people wrong gets one goal for us and the floodgates open

Can't find another thread on Lawrence. He's been getting great reviews at Ipswich of late, MOTM for a lot of fans in their previous game.
Was worried about his development for a bit, but finally looks like he's stepping up.

He needs a permanent move as he's not getting anywhere at Leicester. It's a shame Ipswich do not have the money of say QPR to buy him and J Williams. I'd much rather see them play for IT week in week out than for U23's in the Premier League.

Anyone know what position he's playing for them? He was very disappointing during his time at Cardiff so pleased to see he's finally found some form.

Surely the thread title needs changing. Perhaps "It's too early to judge Tom Lawrence" will do.
