Think it was Holmesdale who mentioned on here that Gunter went off injured during a pre season friendly. Apparently it’s serious and he looks set to miss our first games this autumn. This is unheard of. When was the last time he missed a game? Last game he missed was in 2010 after his sending off versus Bulgaria. Brian Flynn was still in charge. He played every game under Speed and Coleman, and to date the three under Giggs.

That's incredible. When was the last time he missed a game due to injury? Ever?

Can't get more direct than that.

That's incredible. When was the last time he missed a game due to injury? Ever? I doubt he ever has missed a Wales game due to injury. Before this run of games any he missed would have been down to simply being not selected. I hope he is fit because he is currently on a run of 63 consecutive games and I'd love that record to continue.

If Gunts was watching Roberts tonight, he might try extra hard to speed up his recovery ;-)

Will Chris get to 100 caps or will the emergence of Roberts prevent this?
With only 12 more needed think it's a certainty

I've watched Roberts a couple of times now and he seems solid, but nothing to shout about. He has plenty of time to improve though

I asked Giggs whether he would play earlier and he said there's good potential... I reckon he already knew!

Gunts only coming on as a sub after 85 minutes? Any ideas?

Gunter's on target to overtake Big Nev in the overall appearances table if he features in the next two games. Denmark at home will be his 93rd cap if he gets on the pitch in Albania. Just looking at the table and trying to figure out who might one day overtake him. Wayne Hennessey possibly and Bale maybe, but I think Ben Davies, given his age and the number of caps he already has, is most likely. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wales_international_footballers

Still feel a bit sorry for Gunter, to be such a regular nearly for 10 years, to now being on the bench must be hard to accept - especially when he's so passionate.
Deserves to get to 100 caps imo.

Gunter's a fan, if the team are winning I really don't think he'll mind too much. He'll be involved in the squad for a few years yet too. He has lived the dream, what an international career he has had. He just doesn't seem the sort of bloke that would be sore about being left out.

I see your point. I don't for one minute, doubt his commitment and I still feel he has a part to play, as he and King did last night to protect our lead going into the final 10 minutes. Due to the quality in the team, he cannot be counted on to start every game but on the other hand, being relegated to this position might help him to up his game.

Big question is - Will he get to 100 caps??? Hope he does even it is mostly from the bench from now on.

I suppose he's done it all as a Welsh player now, and I don't see any player challenging him for second choice RB so he'll have gametime for the foreseeable future.

Even if he isn't first choice, there'll be plenty of opportunities with injuries and drop-outs. Gunts will be motivated to fight for his place in the starting xi and the Euro 2020 tournament. If he carries on well past 100 caps, then I can't see Bale overtaking him. So just Hennessey realistically capable of overtaking him. Davies in the long-term.

Ampadu may well overtake him too - especially if we qualify repeatedly for tournaments

Roberts is only just starting out so there will likely be a downturn in form at some stage
At the moment he is first choice right back for sure

I guess his main threat is if Jazz Richards improves at Cardiff. May move down to third choice RB if that happens. Does Jazz play regularly for Cardiff?

He will undoubtedly get to 100. Only needs 9 more caps to get there and he’s still in his twenties.

If he plays against Denmark that will be his 92nd cap - he would break the record days later against Albania in Tirana i think BA.

That is true though - he will miss the Albania match so he wins his 93rd cap on home soil in new year LOL!!!
