Two token appearances at the end of the next games to take him to 100? I'd like to see him get his 100th in front of a crowd.

Two token appearances at the end of the next games to take him to 100? Feel like the FAW will want to make a big deal out of it. I reckon one appearance in the next two games and then a friendly sometime next year for his 100th.

Getting closer now. He’s on the plane for the Euros. His performance last night was very assured. He will almost certainly make the Euros 23.

Agreed. Some faans have a tendency to move on from players too quickly. Gunter is still a good player who should still be playing Championship football imo

Gunter is still a good player who should still be playing Championship football imo These days people are more interested in what a full back can do going forward, that's just a trend right now! Nothing wrong with it, but a defender needs to be a able to defend well too, you don't get many better than Gunts in that respect! Agree he should be in the Champ.

I was hoping to see him as a RCB in a back 3 last night as I think he could actually be a real asset for us in that role. His versatility means he could well be on the plane, although I think it's still touch and go for that

Thought he was our best player last night. Seemed unbeatable in 1-on-1 situations from a defensive standpoint.

With Giggs seemingly highly resistant to giving him anymore caps, I can't help thinking that Mr. Marketing (i.e. Ford) has given Rob Page a nudge to make sure that he gets to 99 caps. So that when the time is right, there can be a big marketing thing about Chris Gunters 100th game.

More than likely get #100 in the pre Euro 2020 friendly.

I’m pleased the FAW have set this up beautifully so Gunter can hopefully earn his 100th cap, in CCS, in front of a crowd.
If only they could also conjure a plan that gives him a chance to score a goal.

Can you imagine if he does take a pen in his 100th game, he's definitely missing it, isn't he?

Do we think Gunts will make the Euro squad?
Or will it be 100 and out for him in the Spring?

Do we think Gunts will make the Euro squad? Or will it be 100 and out for him in the Spring? Think he'll stick around in squads for a while as versatile experienced cover. Could still make the Euros, depending on injuries so makes sense to keep him around. I think after the Euros though it makes more sense to find an orthodox LB/LWB to be in the squad with RND

I love Chris Gunter - like me he is born and bred in Newport. His attitude and commitment to Wales is unchallengable. He's on 99 caps.
But, he can't be in the Wales squad at the moment. And probably shouldn't be in the Euros 23. Selecting him is loyal and romantic - but it's not for the best interest of Wales.
There are much better players now than Chris.
At right back - Christian Roberts and Neco Williams
At centre back - Rodon, Mepham, Ampadu, Cabango, Lockyer
At left back - Ben Davies and RND
If Wales want to make a show of loyal and romantic gesture to say thank you to Chris - name him as an extra player in the squad and let him get his 100th cap in a friendly match when fans are allowed in.

If we're going to be playing this Mexico friendly, then he should get a game. We don't want to be playing either of Ben Davies or RND in that game ideally.
Calling him up allows us to rest them both, and he's a good experienced player to help young lads through the game.

He will be selected until he reaches 100 for sure, and I don't have a single problem with that. I think it's important for us to get him to 100 caps as a symbol of the first player to do it. Not the most talented, not the most fashionable, but by far the most committed player we've had - and it shows younger players that commitment is the most important thing by far, and that you don't have to have Gareth Bale levels of talent to go down in Welsh football history
For those reasons I think it is in our best interest to select him and help him over the line to 100 against Mexico in a friendly. Plus he is playing regularly as a CB in a back 3, and Lockyer is out, so he may well have been selected on merit anyway. Not forgetting that his versatility along with his experience is useful in a crisis
Realistically I don't think he will make the Euros squad, and may well hang up his boots after that providing he has reached the magic 100

An experienced head who can cover the entire back line, a good squad choice. I'm not fully convinced by Williams defensively

When crowds are allowed it will be nice to hold like a Chris Gunter 'memorial', whether he's retired or not to celebrate his achievement. Would be nice if it could be against New Zealand who Gunter made his debut against.
