He will be selected until he reaches 100 for sure, and I don't have a single problem with that. I think it's important for us to get him to 100 caps as a symbol of the first player to do it. Not the most talented, not the most fashionable, but by far the most committed player we've had - and it shows younger players that commitment is the most important thing by far, and that you don't have to have Gareth Bale levels of talent to go down in Welsh football history For those reasons I think it is in our best interest to select him and help him over the line to 100 against Mexico in a friendly. Plus he is playing regularly as a CB in a back 3, and Lockyer is out, so he may well have been selected on merit anyway. Not forgetting that his versatility along with his experience is useful in a crisis Realistically I don't think he will make the Euros squad, and may well hang up his boots after that providing he has reached the magic 100 I can't see a player as fit and dedicated as Gunter retiring from international football at 31. I wouldn't be surprised if there a goof few more caps in him yet - he's versatile, and though he's perhaps 3rd choice right back for us at the moment, it wouldn't be a total suprise to find out that he's a good experienced RCB. He could even be pushing for first choice for us there if he gets the chance to prove himself.

Um...Gunter plays in League 1 Level isn't everything. Hence why Joe Allen is in the Championship but plays for us like a Premier League midfielder

Confirmed that Gunts will play tomorrow and earn his 100th cap.
Hope he gets to play again when fans are back so we can show him our adulation.

Real shame it's not in front of a crowd, but still a proud moment nonetheless.
Etched himself in the Welsh football history books with hard work and dedication. Diolch Chris.

To reach 100 caps whilst only having played in one major tournament is quite an achievement & a pretty unique occurrence. Most of the top teams have centurions because they can count on playing an extra 4,5 or 6 games every couple of years, Chris hasn’t had that opportunity, so to get there having turned up through thick & thin is a real credit to him. Unfortunately his best mate won’t reach that number.

What's the point of him then? Aged like 11 year old milk this. Well done Gunts, an incredible achievement. Massively deserved.

You don’t get to 100 caps being some kind of mug. Well played Chris Gunter. He loved the Euros didn’t he? He was a fan if anything

2007 Wales NZ game. Gunter’s debut. That was my 3rd year living in Guatemala. I vividly remember checking the internet for the score and thinking Welsh football was in a really bad place if we couldn’t beat NZ. Gunter seen it all!!!

I can feel a Gunter goal tonight. If he’s playing as a CB does that mean he gets to go up for corners?

I wonder if Chris is a future Welsh manager. Would be nice to see him go into coaching. Seems like he would have the temperament for it.

You rarely hear players speak like this, but then Gunter is a rare breed. I bet he can’t wait for his first Wales Away trip.

He’s getting ripped apart on Twitter. People saying sour grapes. We weren’t good enough. Only the fans got shafted by COVID restriction rules. . Travel is what it is. What if we played in Brazil World Cup.
