He’s getting ripped apart on Twitter. People saying sour grapes. We weren’t good enough. Only the fans got shafted by COVID restriction rules. . Travel is what it is. What if we played in Brazil World Cup. Right now, the only words in English fans' vocabulary appear to be 'sour grapes'. Add 'Ten German bombers' to that on Tuesday. Strange bunch.

Seriously
We do sound like bad losers.
Lets complain amongst ourselves but otherwise shut up to the outside world.
We were no loss to the competition the way and manner in which we played the last two matches - lets move on.

Most posts I've seen are from people who accept that Denmark deserved to win, but factors like the amount of travelling and poor refereeing didn't help matters. Is that not fair? Or are you reading different posts than I?

I think the absence of our fans has to be blamed to a certain extent on the welsh population voting brexit, cake and eat it etc. I know quite a few welsh fans who voted out and I am letting them know this is one of the consequences.

It is true, although even if Wales majority voted remain it wouldn't have overturned the English vote. That being said, I'm happy to rub salt in that particular wound, as the people who did vote for Brexit voted to not have the freedom to attend the game yesterday

He is getting ripped apart on twitter but, of course, that is by England fans. For balance, a French media site picked up on the story and all of their fans agreed with Gunter that this was a staggeringly unfair setup for some teams.

The Scots have a certain view of us something I never liked until brexit, now I am quite ashamed to be associated alot of the time. There said it.

I've seen a few fans agree about how badly organised the tournament, including 1 English fan, who felt that at least one of their matches could have been played away to balance things out. Most of those taking the piss are not worth the time of day. The worst part about this is that originally England were only hosting the semi-finals and final, but after Belgium's stadium was withdrawn, UEFA handed those fixtures over to Wembley. The only positive outcome of all this, is that UEFA will agree it was a mistake of a tournament and will never attempt it again.

It will only be a positive outcome if we are lucky enough to qualify for future tournaments. And that’s the rub - the reason why Gunter & the rest of us are so fucked off is that we know full well that this golden period is probably over. No English fan is ever going to appreciate that because qualification for them is a given.

Get your tin hat on Gunter. Sometimes it’s better to keep quiet on miles travelled and so on. Swiss travelled more than us. The only thing we could have been aggrieved on was 18000 Danes in Stadium and 350 Welsh fans who happen to live in Holland.

Not saying travel was a factor, but it's reasonable to assume it wouldn't necessarily have helped them. Excessive travel and a gruelling schedule can cause fatigue, even amongst professional sportsmen and women. We're not the only country that has complained about this format.

People are misinterpreting Gunter's message. He wasn't making excuses for the loss, he was just saying that the shit format has screwed over the Welsh fans.

Gary Neville missed the point completely on TV yesterday. He said I think the travel is a minor factor but Wales got absolutely thrashed. Gunter wasn't trying to say we lost because of it. Moron. This whole tournament would have been completely crucified across British media over the past 3 weeks if England had the same travel schedule and treatment of fans that we've had, regardless of results.

Yeah Gunter doesn’t use it as an excuse for the Danish defeat, he simply puts the point forward that most of us on here were saying way before we lost to Denmark. Personally I’m quite bitter seeing all these games with loads of fans watching their teams in the Euros when we all had to sit at home.

Are you saying that as long as there was a country out of the 24 that had more travelling than us then we can’t be pissed off that some teams had at least three or four games at home?

Anyway the further Denmark, Italy and the Swiss go in the competition the better it is for Welsh football’s reputation. That’s my take on it

I’ve just re-read Gunters statement and for the life of me I can’t understand how the media, rival supporters and even some of our own fans have taken that as him making excuses for the Denmark result. It’s definitely just about the fact that the Wales fans have been screwed over.
I can only conclude that anyone who reads that any differently has either just skim read it or is deliberately misinterpreting it for whatever reason.

Should of been played more over the last year.
Experience at this level is invaluable and we have not used it enough.

I'd call up someone like Regan Poole in the next round of qualifiers. Played a good amount of minutes throughout the EFL. Played a good chunk of games for the U21's.
Just thinking ahead in a few years we only really have Connor Roberts and Neco Williams at right back. If one of them gets injured or form falls of a cliff we're buggered. Nobody else really coming through either
Poole and Gunter in the next round and leave out Neco.

There's Aaron Lewis at Newport County too, who's still only 22 so I could see him rising through the levels. And also Finley Stevens at Brentford. With those two coming through, Poole, and the two already established RBs, I'd say it's actually probably one of our more secure positions. There's also always the possibility of playing Dan James at RWB if we have in injury crisis (or just wanted to be very attacking).

I'd definitely be considering him, he has 143 senior games under his belt and is playing at the top end of League 1. I'd bring him in for the next games if Roberts is out gimli I also think we've missed a trick not trying Dan James at wing-back, although I'd play him on the left as I feel he solves our left-wing back conundrum, and frees up a forward role

Of the 6 teams who played each group game at home, 4 are in the semi finals
But apparently complaints about the tournament structure were sour grapes....
