"looks like coppers will be rammed with welshmen on thurs, fri and sat night lol" That's if you get in! The queues on a "normal" night is miles long but a great way to chat up the girls before you get refused at the door

Another Dubliner available for help, advice etc if needed. Couple of points. Would recommend NOT going to Temple Bar as said already. Better bars around Dublin and not as touristy (or pricey) as Temple Bar. A pint of Heineken in Temple Bar is €6.50-€7 before 10pm and then goes up, I think, €1 and then again if there's music after 12pm and always check your change! Most Irish people don't go there to avoid the stag and hen parties, the pickpockets and the fights. More phones are stolen in Temple Bar then anywhere else in Dublin and mostly between 10pm and 2am according to the Irish cops. Harcourt street will be mental and is always busy and has one of the most famous pubs in Ireland "Coppers". Advice is "if you can't score in Coppers, you'll never score!". Camden Street just around the corner from Harcourt Street is another great street with late night bars with music and another good few bars off Grafton street, O'Neills, The Bailey & Kehoes all good pubs, not far from Harcourt Street. Baggot Street has the famous O'Donoghues bar, always packed, Donheys and Nesbitts another great bar across the road. Getting from Airport to town is easy(ish) but no tram link for so either bus or taxi ride. Stadium is central enough, you won't be allowed to bring glass bottles (booze or water) in, only plastic with no tops. Allow 30 mins walk from town. Best pubs close to the ground would be Slatterys, Paddys Cullens, The Bridge and Crowes and all will be packed, drinking outside allowed. For the few who will have tickets for the match, if in the away end, there's no cover on the stand so if it rains, you will get wet! Match is a sell out (first time for everything!), tickets will be very hard to come by as it's a must win match for Ireland and all the locals want to see Bale playing. Luas system (Irish Tube) is a frequent system and effortless, Buses are frequent and will get you into town in no time if staying outside the cc. Looking forward to the match and the banter! Thanks for the tips - appreciate it

Coppers is a good place to end the night but you can rack up serious expenditure if you make the mistake of going too early. For thursday night i'd recommend diceys up until at least 1am or 1.30. 2 euro all drinks, will be rammed (popular spot on thursday for people working in the area), can then stagger up to coppers thereafter as it's about 6 or 7 doors down from it. Coppers bouncers are tough but fair, in fact wearing Welsh jerseys might work in your favour with them, only problem is that they might decide to have a bit of craic with you about the match which then means you run the risk of responding "nyaurgghhhhhhh" after a pint to many and then get shown the red card!

Diceys good spot all right but may also be full of drunk students as it's cheap booze night. Fair dues for noticing the price of drink in Coppers. I've never been in there sober so no idea what the price of a pint is.

Seems to be a lot of people travelling without tickets so just in case, sites where you might pick up a ticket (however slim the chances) are toutless.com (tickets sold at face value but heavy demand), donedeal.ie & gumtree.ie Seatwave, viagogo & stubhub would be the main sites but fees are stiff. Facebook and Twitter may have them but there have been a lot of scams using these sites for tickets in the past. There are NO "print at home" tickets for this match, only hard copy tickets.

Also I have heard nobody saying "oh I can't wait to see Gareth Bale play".

"in regards to it being a must win for Ireland, I think you are way off." You have to win your Home matches. If Ireland win they will be 7 points ahead of Wales and that's a good cushion. It's also a must win for Wales so would both teams settle for a draw which would suit Serbia as both teams drop points?
"Also I have heard nobody saying "oh I can't wait to see Gareth Bale play".
Most Irish people wouldn't have the opportunity of seeing Bale live apart from this match. I know loads of kids who want to go with their dad to see both Ireland and Bale play. Tickets for this match are one of the most sought after in the history of Irish football.

Anyone FAW members received their match tickets yet? Not yet There will be an email notification, just prior to sending them out and for those collecting in person, usually best to ring in advance, prior to going along, as they prefer handing them out in batches

I think I'm going to head to Bray vs Limerick for a day by the seaside and a pint or two at The Harbour Bar which was once voted the best bar in the world by Lonely Planet. Kick off time is still TBD by the looks of things, but there are very regular trains from Dublin and the last one back is 23:20, so easy to get back if it's a late one. The ground's close to the station as well.

Any of you on the 11:50am ferry from Holyhead on the Thursday? Despite a sailing time of just 1hr 50mins, it would be rude not to spend most of that time at the bar!

Bad news! To be fair, if anyone managed to buy the tickets a few weeks back when they were only £19 or £29 one-way - that was still better value than buying a rail ticket (about £45) - so, being accepted on the train service is decent alternative

That was quick. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-39241378

Indeed the Rep of Ireland U21s play Kosovo in Tallaght at 1pm so easily doable in conjunction with either league game. To do all 3 would require a taxi from Pats to Bray. Tallaght is on the same Luas line as Pats. Otherwise get a Luas into town from Tallaght and then the DART to Bray.
