Hello I'm after a bit of help/info if u could be so kind.
Arriving in Dublin around 8-9pm Thursday with my wife & staying at hotel ibis Dublin, Red cow roundabout, clondalkin. 1. As it's not exactly early (& no doubt the free booze in the airport lounge may have consumed me) where is the best place for me to have a few pints with a bit of atmosphere without having to travel too far? 2. Off out early on match day so where's best place to head first? Don't really want to head to the pubs near ground that early. 3. What's the best mode of transport to use & where do I head? Thanks in advance

Very close to Dublin transport system the Luas, about 8 min walk. luas.ie/ This will take you to central city with minimum of fuss, if you can avoid some of the "undesirables" that use it. At times there are a lot of drug users etc on it but sit near the driver end and you should be fine. There's a lot of industrial estates around there so nowhere really with atmosphere apart from Red Cow Moran Hotel which is always jammed, probably better off going straight into town. Taxi back should be around €25. Most of the pubs close to the ground will be jammers, get off the Luas at Jervis or Abbey street and stroll around Dublin City centre. Heading towards ground there's some cracking pubs on Merrion row, Dohneys and Nesbitts and O'Donoghues which will probably be jammed as usual, ground is a stroll from there. Allow plenty of time to get in as it's a Friday night and Dublin would be busy anyway. If going for food, book somewhere!

Any recommendations for food?
Will be arriving at 12:00 so looking to get some grub before on the ale for the day.

Mates of mine coming in on the ferry at 17:00.
What's the quickest route for them to Baggot St/Aviva?

I'm taking loads of Welsh Cakes and laverbread over with me - don't trust the foreign food ... unless, of course, its a mighty victory, and then you will probably find me and @garywilliams at the local Georgian restaurant - dancing on the tables ;-)

There are two of them, but I didn't want to jinx it, so haven't looked into booking them yet for the Saturday night ;-)

I have to say that even though we didn't win and Taylor stupidly broke colemans leg I had a tremendous day and night in Dublin
I had tickets in the ireland end and they were very good to me,the banter between us all was great and we met loads of Irish people in the gingerbread man after the game who(evend after the leg break)were very very hospitable
Trouble is we stayed there until 2.30 and the guiness was flowing copiously
And Ive been suffering all day for it🤕

Hope the lads who went to Pats today had a good day, always good to see the scum get beat! I managed to drag my hungover self out of bed to get to Drogheda to watch Ireland's Number One the famous Bohs FC win 1-0, cleared my head right up

Thanks to those who suggested Harcourt St and Baggot st. Had a good couple of pints down Camden st as well.
Much better than Temple Bar!
Feel free to ask closer the time regards the game in Cardiff.
