oscardelta - as you are a very frequent flyer, are you familiar with the Duty Free regulations for the UK if not on direct flights? As far as I understand it, if you are in transit, AND have a SEALED BAG, one is allowed to import the regular 1 litre spirits / 4 litres wine etc? What happens if the transit airport has security checks and need to open those bags? Do they get re-sealed? This is the UK regulations - www.gov.uk/duty-free-goods/arrivals-from-outside-the-eu Chisinau airport - www.airport.md/duty-free-shops-en/

BTW that is good as different ones do different things which means camera's out some places, shoes off some places it means lots of different things. I would expect security would want to see receipts etc. OTOH if you have carry on the option is chuck Duty Free in there at transit airport. Never bother with Duty Free.

Any good bar suggestions for watching the game on big screen in Chisinau?
I don't think all my group will get tickets?

No way your game in Chisinau will sellout. You will have no issue with tickets in the home end. Ditto for Georgia.
When we played there (Rep of Ireland) there were tickets on sale at the stadium. Their fans weren't really intimidating at all but probably best to go in the main stand. I can't see your game selling out.

Has anyone figured out if the Moldovan FA portal is actually open? Any purchase attempts are met with "not for sale" and the ticket counter in all blocks seems to be dormant.
Can't imagine them offering us more tickets if their portal isn't up and selling at all - right now only a few hundred VIP and premier tickets have been sold (held back)
For their ROI match, I just logged on and clicked, paid 100 lei, no booking fees or CC fees and they sent a pdf email ticket almost instantly. My credit card company actually did a quick telephone check with me, as they assumed it was fraud ...
I also notice that Block 1 (south-eastern corner) has also been held back - perhaps another 180 tickets for us?

I see that singles (£22) and doubles (£31) are now again available at the Hotel Chisinau ;-)For those of you that fancy the old glamour of the Soviet Union, Hotel Chisinau promises to be: "just like visiting your granny, not modern, but clean, warm and relaxing."
No more availability on Booking.com etc. but you can email them your dates directly, and they even offer a 15% discount for booking with them directly - chisinau-hotel.md/en/ The Cosmos (my one) also seems to be fully booked Enjoy Larissa in this video ;-)

Manulike, do you have an updated list of flights? The ones I can find using Skyscanner are pretty much all 500 quid!

I keep getting a timed out error. We have 3 tickets out of 5 for our group, so hopefully we can get another 2 from the FAW reserve list. Otherwise the home end it will be for us....if I can log on and buy tickets :-(

Try Cardiff - Paris- Chisinau.- Chisinau - Barcelona- Cardiff if you don't fancy driving to Luton.
It's about 310 now,
8 hours layover in Barca, but worst places to spend the day!
Also, may have one or two spare match tickets if anyone's stuck.

People order a ticket, then can't go for whatever reason. How do you 'avoid' that? ?

Enough at the airport for a taxi and then take out more in town. Yes. Its a closed currency. Change £10 at the airport and that will give you enough for an all-nighter ;-) Supposed to be a big difference (4%-5%) if you change 9am to 6pm or evening exchange, down town... "Curs Valutar" is the word you are looking for downtown... Its about 21 lei to the euro / about 23 lei to the pound

Guessing they prefer euros, or do they mind/give similar rates for GBP? Ill be arriving at 3pm so will make avail of the better exchange rates.

If its anything like Belgrade, they really didn't like the pound out there and only about 1 in 3 exchange booths actually bothered to give quote me a rate...
If you already have euros or US dollars - then bring them. But I wouldn't really bother changing £ to € in the UK especially for the trip.
