Seems to have played very well tonight against very good opposition in Betis. Just reading the live report, he's made a couple of brilliant runs and been by far Rangers' main threat. Against that, he also missed a sitter. This comment on the live feed sums him up pretty well:
'For me, that's Matondo at his best. Having the ball at his feet and just running. He went past three Betis players there. That's where he's the biggest threat.
He's not technically gifted but he's a threat on the counter.'

A real pity, as he was beginning to show glimpses of promising form at club level.
Commenting on Rangers' lucky 1-0 win at Motherwell yesterday, their manager Michael Beale said : "Losing Rabbi [Matondo] to injury - and it doesn't look like a good one - didn't help us because we had few players who could dribble with the ball."

Beale said that the injury looked like a bad one and that can often mean several months on the sidelines – something that Rabbi's fans will have feared. However, latest news from Rangers is that happily it's not quite as serious as it might have been, although it could still entail a six week lay-off.

News from Glasgow (Rangers)...
Rabbi Matondo remains out along with Tom Lawrence, although the latter has returned to training following a calf problem.
Tonight's match at Dundee is possibly in jeopardy anyway, due to the heavy rainfall being experienced in Scotland.

Came on for last 15 minutes today - first time since injury six weeks ago. Our Tom starting again today.
Both will play a major role in Germany this Summer.

Very unlikely both would be in the Euros squad should we make it. Even when fit, when was the last time Tom was picked by Page? Matondo flatters to deceive

Lawrence wont play for Wales again until Page is sacked. As for Matondo he is so inconsistent that he wont be in the squad come March. He doesn't get much game time and unless he moves in January I can't see anything changing.

Unfortunately neither will get close to any Euro squad. Page doesn’t rate Tom ( fall out) and Rabbi has one good game every half a dozen. Completely flatters to deceive

I doubt very much that Brookes went on without saying he was well enough to do so and in that scenario you'd not find many favouring Matondo over Brookes.

Page knew that Brooks was ill, he shouldn't have been in the squad at all. It all smacks of page not trusting all his subs to do a job if they come on. Unless he starts using the younger players we are going to go backwards.

Brooks was our best player from when he came on up to the second half of extra time. His place was fully justified despite his limited involvement. Can't help think what might have been had he been fully fit.

Feels like next season could be a big one for him. Creeping towards being a regular contributor for Rangers, both in output and game time, and reaching an age where things need to start clicking for him if he doesn't want to enter "late bloomer" territory.
Could be some player if it clicks together as we all hope.

I wonder what our exalted manager thinks now 🤔 He'd probably say something like 'yeah, Rabbi has that quality about him, which is why I keep picking him for my squads despite lots of my critics arguing agaibst his inclusion. He just needs do show it consistently at club level, so I can start start selecting him come matchday'. Sound about right?

24 in September. Come on Rabbi, please use this moment* to kick-start the career we all believe you can have.
Really excellent goal. Could easily be big part in Rangers winning the league so yeah, if that does happen, I reckon he'll be part of Rangers' folklore.
*To be fair, he's been having good run of it since end of January.
