"56 Bodin (Wales) scores from the penalty spot."
Now there's a line you don't see every day!

'Bodin scores crucial penalty for Wales!'
(..just a shame we weren't saying that 17 years ago)

Wales won 2-1. Elliot Chamberlain came on and scored the winning goal in the 80th minute. Turkey and Iceland have to play each other while Wales have to play Kazakhstan who have conceded 9 goals against Turkey and Iceland. Wales should win the group.

No way! I went on the UEFA site earlier and it said it finished 1-1. Thats cheered me up no end. The Kazahks have been thrashed in their 2 games- We really should win that one to go through to the next stage. Tidy.

Uefa have screwed up 2 final scores in the last few days. God help us when Goal Line Technology comes in!!!!!!!!!!!! The Final game is at the Brewery Field, Bridgend about 15 mins from my old home where I used to have a season ticket in the early 90's to watch the Ravens(I love Rugby aswell). Come on the Bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in guatemala, don't think i'll make it

Matthews' future is definitely in midfield rather than full-back.

Turkey beat Iceland 2-1 so we would have had to beat Kazakstan by 5 goals to top group. Would have been nice to beat them in our last game but it doesnt really matter we are through. This is big for the 19s who have not really done much in recent years like the 17s and 21s!! BRILLIANT

They are a mix of U21 squad players and capped lads and players that have played for the 19s before like K. Brown. But not sure there are loads from the 17s who qualified for the elite round last year!!

The new U21 squad (all eligible for next campaign) looks strong again. These players probably aren't as well established as previous U21 squads, but loads of potential it seems. Paul Dummett gets his first U21 call up, I remember reading how Flynn asked him to switch to us a while back - people think a lot of him up in Newcastle.
Rhys Taylor (Chelsea - Loan Crewe Alexandra) David Cornell (Swansea City) Daniel Alfei (Swansea City) Ashley Richards (Swansea City) Paul Dummett (Newcastle United) Adam Matthews (Cardiff City) Troy Brown (Ipswich Town) David Stephens (Hibernians) Nathan Craig (Everton) Lee Lucas (Swansea City) Joe Allen (Swansea City) Billy Bodin (Swindon Town) Joe Partington (AFC Bournemouth) Jonathan Williams (Crystal Palace) Ryan Doble (Southampton) Jake Taylor (Reading) Casey Thomas (Swansea City) Tom Bradshaw (Shrewsbury Town)
Stand-By Players:
Jonathan Bond (Watford) Joe Walsh (Swansea City) Tom Bender (Colchester United) Robert Ogleby (Hearts) Jonathan Meades (Cardiff City - FK Moss)

so few from Cardiff. This surprises me. On the other hand, Swansea City looks like a bit of a production belt.

There seems to be a lack of quality 18-20 year olds in the youth (Matthews aside), but the lower age groups have plenty. Saying that to get into the squad at the moment at that age you would need to be pretty special - Matthews and Blake have done very well.

Has Jake Cassidy played for any Welsh national team? If not, why not? Does he have a non-Welsh parent or grandparent? His quality has been known for some years and he apparently has promisng brothers.

welshwizard is right- Cassidy played against Liechtenstein for the U19s last months. He didn't play very well, which is why I guess he didn't get called up for the competetive games. Nowhere near ready for the U21s yet- I hope that a few more months of full time training at Wolves will put him in contention when the competitive games come round. Paul Dummett seems promising. www.nufc.co.uk/page/Teams/AcademyPlayerProfile/0,,10278~1389866,00.html Love that comment about playing most like Gareth Bale! Lets hope so!

This team looks like a completely new team to the last 4 years, Bodin might turn out to be the star of this team.

Matthews and Allen. Bodin must have a chance. Not in the U21s yet but Holloway is highly thought of at Bristol. And that Emyr Huws bloke at Man City is supposed to be good.
