Thanks for the updates. Great result, keeps us in the hunt. Gonna be tough this time round without the 'bigger' names, credit to Flynn for still getting results.

FAWales FA Wales It's full-time in Yerevan where it's finished Armenia 0-0 Wales #WalesU21 7 minutes ago -----
Not a bad result out there- Armenia have bagged quite a few goals at home so far. Going to be difficult to qualify now but its a good result for our players development.

Was hoping we would nick a 1-0 win out there. They've had some good results like you said so guess its a positive result for a very young side.

Not bad, but leaves us in a very tough spot to qualify from that group now.

Good result. How many of the best runners up go through to the play-offs because it looks like the Czechs got the 1st place rapped up?

Qualifying is open to all UEFA member associations. Teams initially compete in a group stage, with the section winners and a set number of best runners-up paired off in two-legged play-offs to determine the seven sides that will join the tournament hosts in the finals. Just found this above on the UEFA website. What does SET NUMBER mean? thats very loose, UEFA trying to pull another random rule to suite the big boys? ?

I don't see how it could be changed on a whim, there is a fixed number of groups so surely it will be the ten winners plus the four best runners-up playing-off to join Israel in the finals?
Looking at our group, we have Armenia and Andorra at home, plus the Czechs away, whilst our rivals for second, Montenegro and Armenia, have respectively Armenia home and Czechs home and away; and Andorra home, Montenegro away and Wales away.
It should be very tight for second and we actually have a better chance than I thought. Beat Armenia at home and we are in with a real shout as Andorra at home is an almost guaranteed three points.

Just as I thought, you slag off Flynne on your thread but you have no idea how hard qualifying actually is. The group winners and the four best runners up play off.

Just being to lazy but i'm not really slagging off Flynn, you have people like Ray Wilkins and Marcel Desailly coming to Wales to do their Pro License Badges and it would be nice to see 2 Welsh Coaches from this top UEFA Badge who came through the Welsh system given a chance. When i lived in Wales i actually never missed an U21 game at home in 10 or 12 years. They were rubbish when Flynn was incharge the first time under Gould, one freak result in Holland, Simon Howarth scored(watched the game in a pub in Amsterdaam). Flynn came good when he did the job fulltime under Tosh and i want him to continue doing the U21's but for him to do the u17's and u19's i just think we're putting all our eggs in one basket. Give the new breed a chance!

Then it was Jimmy Shoulder until Hughes.

Under Yorath it was Jimmy Shoulder who had a bit of success with a young Gary Speed, Nathan Blake and Jason Perry then I think it was Flynn and Joey Jones and then the Walley brothers and then Shoulder again. To be honest we just didn't have the ability to pass the ball along the floor back in the day. I remember we lost 6-1 at Cardiff Rugby Clubs ground to Germany. John Hartson ,Robert Page and Danny Coyne were the only decent players. Danny Coyne(GKeeper) Man of the match and you loose 6-1 at home. Dark, dark days indeed

Great result by the lads. Injury to Joniesta will be a big blow to both Wales and Palace. At least no player has been caught breaking the curfew like pay time they played in Armenia. Lee Kendall and Rhys Weston were 2 players, but I have forgotten the third. Talked to them both before they went out. Directions were not brilliant but they found the night club.

Hopefully everyone who can't make it down to Llanelli on the 15th will turn up for the U21s match. A shame the two games are on the same night once again.

I think Adam Mekki is a new name on the standby list ? Born in Chester, tunisian/welsh heritage I think? Possibly another Welshman born over the border due t the location of maternity units in North Wales? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Mekki

With a middle name like Rhys I guess he has Welsh parentage?
