Seems to me that all the signs are pointing to a forthcoming ownership sale of the swans. Wage bill is being dramatically reduced and outstanding debts cleared all with the aim of making the club a more attractive proposition to wouldbe buyers. That’s a good thing whether they are going to sell or not. The club needs to be on a good financial footing. I’d rather that than risk everything for promotion, it doesn’t come off and the club gets into trouble. Not worth it.

Trouble is to compete in the Championship you have to be prepared to lose around £12 million a year, because that's the average annual loss. Clubs that are run on a break even or modest loss basis, such as Rotherham, have a short shelf life in the Championship. Swansea and Cardiff (and Wrexham when they get there) need owners that are willing to foot that sort of loss.

I've been saying for a while that the next 'bigger picture' stage in the Swansea Cardiff rivalry will be who will drop back to league 1 first..
This is our 17th consecutive season in the top2 divisions, Cardiff came up 5 years earlier..
We were fortunate we were able to achieve promotion in 2011 when wage bills were still within annual turnover and the club was managed on a small profits small losses basis... I felt at the end of our premier league era that we were being squeezed tighter and tighter financially, can't help but feel at times that may be happening again...
For me, it's vital now that we stay true to the possession football blueprint, when implemented successfully I feel it gives us a level of insurance in terms of keeping a certain number of teams behind us at least every year until 'hopefully' we can be competitive at the top end of the championship again..

I agree on the possession football stuff. However that will only get you so far. It's an unfortunate reality that Championship clubs, even mid table ones, have to be willing to run at a substantial loss even to stand still. Kevin Maguire is an expert in the field and he's very clear on this. Owners like Hemmings (recently passed away) at Preston have articulated the same message.

Team are being allowed to drift with the hope that they have enough to avoid relegation in the meantime. Let’s hope any new owners have the funds; ambition and hopefully football knowledge that the Americans have been sadly lacking. you may well be right

Many clubs fell into the trap of trying to compete with the super rich, wages are the biggest financial burden where clubs offer way above their limits, hence it eventually fails and goes into administration or worse goes out of existence. There should have been a wage cap introduced and harsher ruling on FFP, then clubs like city would'nt dominate not only the competitions but even the governing FA.
