I watched Sheffield Utd v Swansea out the other Saturday and thought they looked good too.
The Championship is a very competitive division so it should be an exciting season.

Swansea did well Saturday but Sheffield then got hammered mid week.
Think they will finish around mid table.
However, with the loan window open plenty of time for signings
James Collins?

It could be a while until Declan gets a championship game I reckon and I expect him to start out as understudy to Olsson. Rodon hopefully with Harries on the bench could well happen next game. They will definitely sign a centre back on loan before August is out as well. Olsson is probably the best left back in the Championship so John will do well to surpass him in the side. Olsson was sh*te last year though

Cooper, Harries, John, James start for Swansea vs Palace. Lewis and Cullen on the bench. Pretty decent that.
Joniesta starts for Palace

Potter is not disappointing in giving youth a chance. Great to see.

Can anyone report back on how they did individually? John had an excellent match, especially n the first half. Loads of pace going forward and good defending as well. Seems just to lack the killer pass at the end.
James also had a decent game, Great vision and wonderful movement off the ball. always creates space for himself. Sadly, also lacks that finishing touch. should have scored at least one or even two tonight.
Cullen only came on for last 20 minutes, but was very good and had some excellent moves. Wou,d love to see more of him, soon.
Harries was solid enough to, with good forward vision and a nice pass on him

Awesome! .. cheers! Cullen is the one I’ve alway been most hopeful about! It would be good to see him kick on now! ... Did Brandon Cooper play? ...

Cooper was the best of the Welsh contingent in my opinion. Harries did well, and was cultured in possession but could have done better for Palace's goal. John disappointed me to be honest, although he was up against Palace's best player. It was also his first game back from injury so not surprising he was a bit off the pace. James was lively and making good runs - but he missed three chances, he should have scored from one at least. Cullen had a decent headed chance at the death, otherwise not much chance to impress with Swansea on the backfoot for the last quarter having more of the game up to that point with essentially an U23 team.
The good news from a Welsh perspective is that with a threadbare squad the Welsh U23s should have plenty of game time this season. And Potter has already shown his coaching credentials - so I expect the likes of Rodon, Harries, John and James to progress.

Shame they couldn't get a win and go on a bit of a run meaning more games. Good that Potter has played them but i wouldn't say he's 'put trust in' as it's the Carabao cup. I doubt it will affect the first XI much for league games.

Roberts has been starting despite the availability of Naughton, so there's good reason to think that Potter will give the youngsters game time. Rodon's position will be challenged by Carter-Vickers - but they're the same age, so it's by no means a foregone conclusion that Rodon will be dropped. Over a 46 game season, with a bare bones squad, there's every reason to think that the Welsh U23s will be given opportunities - it's up to them to grab them when they're presented.

Massive well done! Played away to Milwall with 10 men for 87 minutes and won ;-)
Tom Bradshaw came on in the last ten minutes but could do nothing to help...

The U23 look like turning their poor beginning to the season around. Ahead 1-5 away to Derby County, who are 2nd in the league.
Liam Cullen getting two of them ;-)

Great win over Sheff United. First clean sheet in ten games. First goal SUFC conceded since Boxing Day ;-)
Totally deserved and great to see Connor and Daniel combining so well down the left flank.
Sadly, Joe was taken off injured after 20 mins

Connor and Declan both looking good bursting down the flanks.
James looked excellent when coming on in the second half. Had one assist and should have had another two assists, with better finishing.
I hear that Albert Stuivenberg has seen the Swans twice since Christmas. He must like what he sees ;-)

What is going on at Swansea? Huw Jenkins hss now resigned with other set to follow. Realy hope this doesn't affect any of our lads development.

Fans got what they wanted but now don't know what they will get. Careful what you wish for Good point. For all his faults (and they were many) Huw Jenkins knew how to spot a manager - the essential ingredient in Swansea's success. Given the American owner's track record with appointing Bob Bradley, I'm very concerned should Potter leave, which I suspect he will come the end of the season. Given the way the Americans are slashing costs I'm concerned they will dispense with the academy (following the example of Brentford) which will be seriously bad for the development opportunities of Welsh talent.

Im reading that Toshack biography book at the moment and there are similarities with what happened when he was manager at Swansea to what seems to be happening now.

For Sunderland read Swansea in a couple of years time. Sadly, quite possibly true. Having said that Sunderland had massive debts, whereas we have been led to believe that Swansea's debts are pretty modest. As long as Swansea can hang on to Potter they'll be fine - but that's a big if right now. I can't see him hanging around unless the American owners change tack.

I know Garry Monk stepped away from the tiki taka style a bit, and performances dipped towards the end of his tenure, but I think he's going to be a top manager and perhaps they should have kept him on board for identity+continuity. Bournemouth are lucky to have Eddie Howe, it will be interesting to see what their plan is when he leaves.

I pity Sunderland fans more than I ever would Swansea fans.
Swansea were playing amazing football in League One and the Championship before heading in to the Premier League and, for the first few seasons, playing great football that was unheard of by a promoted team. They held their own, won a cup and got to play in Europe. Ok, those times are over and there's going to have to be a major turnaround for them to return, but what great memories for the fans.
Compare that to Sunderland, generally regarded as a bigger club with bigger expectations, but what have they achieved? - sweet fanny adams. Yo-yo-ing from Championship to Premier League over the past 20 or so years, going from manager to manager. The biggest crime of the lot is that they they never put an effort in to win a trophy - the league cup or FA Cup. Their fans deserve a trophy and they wimp out of those competitions because all that matters to them is being in the Premier League (and they usually get relegated anyway).

Aside from ££$$$, what was he thinking? How many managers have gone there thinking they can turn the tide? Enjoying the series despite there not being enough unintentional laughs on it though (see the Bros documentary for that).
