I declare an interest - one that I think I have declared before - in that my three children were born in Isleworth and I have never seen them as anything other than Welsh children. I do get the hump with those who judge nationality on place of birth alone. It is as wrong as the Tebbit Test was. Yup agree with you Toshfan.

I do get the hump with those who judge nationality on place of birth alone. It is as wrong as the Tebbit Test was. Fully agree. I have family in London. The children were born in London, went to a private school and even went to Cambridge. Their English accent is posh and to be honest are quite annoying!! However, they speak Welsh and consider themselves Welsh as their mother is from Ceredigion and moved down there when she went to University. They support Wales ahead of England all the time. It works the other way around as well - I have a guy who was with me in School who was born in Wales to English and Welsh parents. He even speaks Welsh and still lives locally! However, he considers himself English when it comes to supporting a country at sport etc. That's his choice but his father is an Englishman and they used to go to support England in the rugby etc. What people don't realise is that the parents of many of these players have had to move to England for work or other reasons. Brooks' mother is from Llangollen.

Durham would be better served rather than moaning, asking the questions of why dual Nationality boys are CHOOSING the Welsh set up. Brooks, Woodburn and Ampadu have all had ample opportunities to take the English pathway and have dipped toes in its water but if they don't look in house at their own failings then they will get the same results (Hopefully!!) Again, we must stop and give huge credit to Osian Roberts and his team for the environment and professionalism they have set up which demonstrates that young players international future is with us. With the Football Trust and the first team, has there ever been a more important man to Welsh football than Osian?

You have no say about where you're born. To me it's what's in your heart that really determines your nationality. Of course that may not cut any ice with sports bodies' rules and regs.

I find this amazing! He, Woodburn and Ampedu all have great talent and potential and could have reasonably expected to have a shot at playing for England. Whatever anyone says it is awesome how right we are getting things in terms of our environment and culture. I definitely never expected Brooks to choose us so quickly after the Toulon tournament. This would never have happened 4 years ago, never mind 10! Awesome - lets always be 100% behind these and all the rest of the squad come what may!
PS - Tyler Roberts seems to be making good progress all of a sudden. What a treat if he and Wilson are knocking on the door of the senior squad in 12 months time too!

Brooks accepting the call up from the senior squad has totally made his intentions clear. He is now a Welsh player and this is a great complement to our national team set-up.

I went to the game against Wolves the other night.
Brooks was brilliant again. He nutmegged Wolves' left-back 3 times, taking the piss.

I just saw an interview with Rob Page and he said that it was always Brooks intention to play for Wales before the Toulon Tournament and he would join up with the u21's after the tournament, it's just that Brooks gave his word to England that he would represent them. So basically he did what he said he would do and didn't let anyone down.

The squad list must have already been submitted by the time that conversation took place. Slightly amateurish on Page's staff's part that, however if I'm not mistaken that squad announcement was his first in the job. Steep learning curve and all that, we all make mistakes sometimes.

Now Bale is out, I think we need to start with David Brooks - on form and confident.
Also, how about his chant being an adaption of David Watts by The Kinks/The Jam
(wish I could be) Wish I could be like David Brooks (wish I could be) Wish I could be like David Brooks (wish I could be) Conduct my life like David Brooks (wish I could be)
He is the head boy at the school He is the captain of the team He is so gay and fancy free And I wish all his money belonged to me I wish I could be like David Brooks

This kid is going to play some part in these next two games... isn't he? Hopefully not because if he does it probably means we're chasing a goal in the last 20-30 minutes! But I expect that to be the case so he probably will.

A little more appropriate for Georgia, especially if flying into "David the Builder" Kutaisi International Airport...
Dai, the builder Can you fix it? Dai the builder Yes he can!

Great. He's so much better off staying there for at least a year.

Great. He's so much better off staying there for at least a year. Agreed its better to be playing first team football, Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson are hardly been given opportunities at Liverpool.
