Absolute shambles. Wish I could say it was unusual for him, but he looks like a liability more often than not these days unfortunately. Honestly all the talk has been about choosing between Lockyer or Cabango for the Euros, but I'd take both over Mepham.

Hate to bring up a negative after a fantastic win. But Mepham didn’t look comfortable in that game. There was a calamity aspect to his play. I’m not even sure he makes the Euro squad. I’d rather have Ampadu back there. Horrible player. Certainly agree with his calamitous nature. He has the most awkward technique I’ve seen on a footballer. It’s really frustrating as he looked like an incredible prospect in 2018. Still relatively young but crikey.

Oh dear, whats he done? Im hearing lots fans wanting J Lawrence, Cabango and Lockyer to be ahead of him in the Euro squad - have to say, I agree. He will obviously go though. Listening on the radio but got caught napping and had to grapple someone to the floor to stop a goal. Red card but good news is that Brooks got sacrificed for a defender in the substitution that followed.

Can I claim rights over ‘Calamity Mepham’, I noticed years ago he was prone to dodgy moments!!

He has always had this calamity side to his game. Does plenty of great stuff, but gives a goal or pen away almost every game. Yes. He needs to be in the 26 squad. However, I really hope we do not need to use him.

What has happened to this bloke? Shame, because him and Rodon looked to be the partnership at the back for the next decade. Early on in Giggs’ reign, he looked quality. Strong, decent on the ball (Eddie Howe obviously thought so). I can’t remember him making many mistakes, if at all. Is he just a bit brittle mentally? I think that’s the difference with Rodon. He just seems stronger in that respect.

Confidence wreck now. Imagine him the changing room of Bournemouth. Look I don’t want to go on a witch-hunt so if Page does go with him then I would actually play him in the friendly games before the tournament. Give him a chance to prove himself, rather than be thrown in the deep end at the Euros.

Beginning to get a bit nervy about CM.... will he actually get into our 26 man squad, given penalty conceded on Wales duty against Belgium and unimpressive late season lapses for Bournemouth (when playing)?

Given how solid Lockyer has looked for us, and depending on whether B.Davies plays at LCB or LWB. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a back three of Lockyer - Rodon - B.Davies/Lawrence.
Chester would be an absolute shoe-in for the RCB role right now.......

Don't you mean Ben playing at LCB/LWB? He's not right-footed!
Agree with you, though, that Rodon and a fit Lockyer (or Cabango, perhaps) might make for a better central defensive anchor than one involving Mepham - based on his recent form book.
Not sure whether Chester's in favour with the present coaching team, for whatever reason.

He was injured for a lengthy period of course, which saw players like Rodon, Mepham, Lockyer coming in. But he's been fit for a while now, so I don't get why he's been snubbed.

Mepham seems to have been favoured for us even when coming back from injury and looked like he might not start games. He also has credit in the bank for playing well for us recently, despite conceding the penalty against Belgium. Other than that he has done well for us
I agree though, I think Lockyer is the more solid choice & I'd definitely be including him

Was a horrible mistake and his confidence will have been hit but the over reaction from d Some on here is poor.
Im Not a massive fan but he has done well for us and would have him, Rodon and Davies in my back 3.

Lockyer-Rodon-Davies for me (if all fit of course). Lockyer got some unwarranted stick on here but he's been solid for us

Whilst I would partner Cabango with Rodon (in a back 4), my view is that Mepham had an excellent second half today. I recall one error in the first half. I think that he can be happy with that performance.

I think that he can be happy with that performance. Cabango getting no minutes in the friendlies as well as Lockyer means to me that the only ones being considered for the tournament are Rodon, Mepham, Davies, Gunter & Ampadu. Think Ampadu might struggle to make the 1st game tbh now

Exactly what I was thinking, I think we're going to need Cabango to really push on this season because Ampadu isn't playing at Venezia and I think he prefers midfield anyway.

I thought he was excellent on Tuesday and deserves a mention on his thread. I think he looks so much better on the right of a back three, just as Davies does on the left of it too. With those two either side of Rodon I think we look a lot more comfortable at the back and less stretched when teams attack us. I have a feeling that long term Page might see Ampadu taking that role but with Allen getting on and Morrell suspended for the next game I can imagine Ethan will be deployed in midfield which would/should mean the same back three again.

I agree.
We also need to factor in the real possibility that at least one of Ramsey or Allen gets a yellow in the semi-final, leaving us with a midfield headache should we get to the Final, although I would like to see Levitt come into the equation.

Another good performance, I think Mepham-Rodon-Davies is the way to go with Ampadu in midfield
