How come he doesn’t get anywhere near Bournemouth’s matchday squad, given how porous they are?

It is a strange one. We know he can be inconsistent and can sometimes be a bit bullied, but there are many central defenders like that!
He is 6ft 3 inches, quite quick and has great technique. Its a shame he can't get a regular position in a top Championship or lower Premiership team - he should at least be in the Bournemouth squad - look at the rubbish defensive players they have there.

He's a good player, very impressive last weekend considering he's not played for a while

That Bournemouth manager is getting sacked, he's absolutely ballsing it up there. They've lost two relegation 6 pointers on the bounce, they face a rubbish Burnley next and even if they win that they've got Man City and Newcastle after that before another 6 pointer with Sheffield United, it's almost certainly over for him.

I heard that the current manager had done really well in Spain on a shoestring budget, so I'm sure he's not a terrible manager probably just wrong place at the wrong time. But to get rid of someone tried and tested like that was absolutely bizarre. Think they'll go down now!

Sub'd at half time - anyone know if he was hooked or injured? Either way, concerning.

Leeds apparently looking at Mepham as well now? Could be interesting if he plays in a back 4 with Rodon?

Add Roberts into the mix and we could end up with a majority of the Leeds starting eleven from Cymru.

This is disappointing. It's their prerogative but disappointing nonetheless. Good on Meps for trying to force it.

The way that football runs itself seems so wrong when you think about it. Credit to Pep for allowing Palmer to go find football knowing he had players he trusted to fill his role and that it's best for Palmer.

Pep has massive squad depth and can replace players at the click of his fingers. Bournemouth aren't as fortunate and if Iraola thinks he needs Mepham in his squad then Mepham is contracted to stay.

Ditto at Notts Forest!!

Great to see Mepham playing all bar 12 mins of Bournemouth's victory last night at Burnley.
Here's his entry from a 'player rating' site: " Mepham 7.5 - Solid, didn’t really do a lot wrong. Read the game well and made a couple of vital interventions".

Solid on the whole last night.
At the game itself, I didn't notice it - but on watching the highlights at home afterwards, I did see some wasteful passes and minor errors here and there (which thankfully came to nothing). Hope that playing the full match yesterday will have benefitted him ahead of Tuesday - and his dealings with Mr Lewandowski & co.

Mix-up between Mepham and Rodon for the Pukki goal... arguably more Joe's fault than Chris's?
Ben was pretty mad and vocal about it, anyway!

Mepham ran in to Rodon, so the former's fault. Mepham tracked Pohjanpalo across the edge of the box but should have held back at a certain point. Poor judgement.

They collided after the ball went through Rodon's poor attempt at a clearance, he should have dealt with it or stuck with Pukki. If you're going to let him run off you then you need to put your foot through the ball rather than wave a leg at it the way Rodon did. He was on his heels. If Mepham stays central than Pohjanpalo gets there ahead of Rodon anyway and he'd have been dug out for letting his man go free and leaving Rodon in a 2 on 1 Anyway doesn't matter in the end

Yeah just watched it back. Meps definitely doesn't cover himself in glory, but Rodon was primarily at fault. He didn't need to go after the other guy when Mepham was already on him. Had he stuck with Pukki the goal would have been avoided.
Reminds me of the goal we conceded away against the Dutch actually, when Mepham and Rodon again went for the same guy, and it was Rodon who overcommitted to cover the side Mepham was already taking responsibility for, and was done on the other side. Not sure if it suggests that Rodon doesn't fully trust Mepham.
