This was my take from the stands:
"From a Wales point of view, Chris Mepham looks very composed at CB. Don't think he ever gave the ball away, a good ball playing defender. Struggled a bit to handle Zohore at set pieces though, not sure whether he was directly at fault for any goal."
Having looked back, can only blame him for the third goal where he was hesitant, but Zohore did get the better of him overall.

To be fair, Zohore has got the better of most CB’s in he Championship this season - including Chester and Terry I also thought Mepham did ok. Certainly worth looking at and will fit in as a ball playing centre back

'Giggs spoke with Mepham soon after he got the job and made it clear that he was in his plans and the Bees ace was impressed with what he had to say.
He added: “He's really calm and composed when I met him. He delivered his message clearly that he wanted to promote youth players into the setup. I'm looking forward to working with him.”'
Interesting, maybe he's the young player giggs referred to in one of his first conferences

If Mepham can prove himself to be an upper championship level player or even better, he could potentially plug a gap for us for many a year. Ash is going to leave a huge cavity in the team some time soon, so Mepham's rise is timely and takes the pressure off finding a replacement. Ideally some of the names at u21 level will provide competition in the future, but it could be some time before we know if they are likely to. Certainly there are a few names there who are a good academies, or even playing league football.

Looks like Giggs has done his homework and is sounding out potential centre backs

He’s had a good week. Made his Wales debut and scored his first senior goal today.

I think this kid will end up in the premier league possibly with a transfer this summer. Optimistic I know but could be the answer to our problems concerning the long term CB positions. He's kicked on a lot quicker than some of the other u21 players in terms of playing regularly at a good level. How many others are Championship starters?

Him and Brooks are the players who regularly eligible for the the u21s who are starting regularly at that level or above. I think that's it at the mo. Seeing as our u21s campaign is all but over, I'd like to see Page experiment with different players who are getting league football in the leagues below, over say players who are contracted to reputed academies. I think we should diversify the selection pool and offer opportunities to others. Sadly though, Page may perhaps be feeling too much pressure to do that.

Mepham is looking the most likely to step up and succeed Ash in the centre of a back three and with Bournemouth sniffing around, a move to the Prem this summer could be on.

He signed a five year deal with Brentford this season, but a another offer like that could be too tempting. I would love for him to stay put for one more season which would be much better for his long term development.

He reminds me a lot of John Stones to be honest. Not necessarily the most imposing, but tall, a good reader of the game and very good on the ball.

Why Lockyer came on ahead of him was the most baffling decision Giggs made

Why Lockyer came on ahead of him was the most baffling decision Giggs made I thought he'd be a goner when Giggs took over. From what I've seen Mepham is way ahead, despite him being captain for his club.

Lockyer is only 23 and has over 200 appearances for Bristol Rovers, bit harsh to write him off just yet

Not writing him off but after playing 200 games you think a club from a higher league might of signed him by now. In comparison Mepham is a regular starter at a championship club with multi million pound offers coming in from the EPL.
I know which one I think is the better prospect

Cracking performance against an experienced Mexico side. Stepping up with ease and at just the right time.

This boy is going to be a permanent fixture for us for the next 10 years. Along with Ampadu, he will make Ash’s departure more of a transition.
