I'm glad he stayed on for the rest of the season in the championship but if Bournemouth come knocking once again, I think he needs to jump at it this time around.

This boy is going to be a permanent fixture for us for the next 10 years. Along with Ampadu, he will make Ash’s departure more of a transition. Definitely our best player v Mexico for me.

I can see why you're saying that Richie - jump at the chance while it's there. But I would rather he stayed and get league games for definite. Brentford look in great shape and the champ is still a really tough league. He'll still be growing and the PL chances will still be there down the line if that is the case.

I agree, at this point in his career its games, games, games. An playing in the Championship, such a tough league is a great education. No doubt he has the qualities to step up to the Premier League, but there is no rush.

Things can happen very quickly in football. Brentford have a bad run and end up in the relegation zone, the manager looks to the more senior players and then all of a sudden he's on the bench in League 1, it does happen that fast! The chance to play at the top may only come around once more.

Robert Page on Mepham (bottom of this BBC link) Page admits to having pride in seeing age-grade players such as Mepham given their senior chance, and fully expects top-flight interest in the centre-back who has been previously targeted by Bournemouth. "He is (destined for the top) and he will get there," Page added. "He's got ability in abundance. He ticks a lot of boxes and it's why he's proving to be a centre-half that a lot of clubs want."

Need to get him capped in a competitive match. I think he’ll be a big player one day.

Very impressed by him, looked very solid alongside Ash + Lockyer. Big future ahead.

Does he start ahead of Williams against Ireland?

No he starts with him and Chester in a back 5 with Gunter and Davies at wing backs

No he starts with him and Chester in a back 5 with Gunter and Davies at wing backs I think John can make a claim to start, he’s done really well in the last few games, nice problems to have. We need to see if Chester can lead the defence in a friendly, he’s amazing alongside Williams and Terry but they are born leaders. If he does well I think it’ll be Chester and Mepham for the next few years.

Bournemouth have made another bid for him. £10m this time. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44503808Bournemouth have made a £10m bid for Brentford and Wales defender Chris Mepham. Cherries boss Eddie Howe tried to sign Mepham in the final days of the January window without success, but is hoping to complete a deal this time around. The 20-year-old came through the Brentford academy and made his first team debut in January 2017. Ryan Giggs gave Mepham his senior international debut against China in March 2018. He went on to make his first start in front of an 80,000 crowd at California's Rose Bowl stadium in Wales' draw against Mexico last month.

Nice to see prem league managers having such confidence in his ability, but I would prefer to see him having a full season in the championship as a regular starter. Our cb options are becoming a little desperate so we need to have him starting regularly by the time of our nations league fixtures

Rumours that Leicester have joined Bournemouth in the hunt for Mepham, with a £15m bid rumoured to have been turned down. I wouldn't be surprised if he moves for £15-20m before the window closes

Think he will be in the premier league this time next week. Maybe a replacement for the world class Harry Mcguire.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE ;-)
Allegedly, £10m and £12m offers rejected. Fascinating. But I'd much rather he played twice a week where he is, than on the bench in the PL

Yes, tough one. I'm not sure which I'd prefer. I suppose it depends on whether he would make the step up straightaway, or whether it would take him a year or two to get into their first team

Another season in the Championship would be fine for Mepham. Brentford could make the play offs so you never know what could happen after that.

Yeah, I agree actually. Leicester have maguire, jonny evans and wes morgan - even if they sell maguire mepham would still probably be a squad player. Best to stay in the championship this season

No Morgan Fox for Wednesday, Ashley Baker (24) does starts again. He even had the only Sheffield shot on target all game ;-)
Chris seems to be playing more of a sweeper / libero type role. Very assured and brimming with confidence, since he bunked up with our Gareth out in China ;-)
Should have ended 4 or even 5 nil, if they had a better striker...

The Beeb claiming that Meps was subbed after 50 minutes "due to injury" ;-(
Really sad news, as he was very close to our starting 11
