massive shame as he possibly would have started! However I think we have enough options at CB (for the first time) for it not be a catastrophe.

Just done a bit of twitter searching, looks like a broken nose? So long as there's no concussion, this won't put him out of contention will it? Give the lad a face mask if need be.

Any other position but CB heading the ball all day and risking a flailing elbow etc. He might have to sit this one out

Pretty sure he'll be back this Saturday wearing a mask. Would love to see Zorro at the heart of our defence.

Well he's there, and a cheeky retweet to the squad announcement says to me that there's no doubt that he'll be available.

Mepham captains Brentford tonight.
Are we sure he’s only 20?

With the way Brentford are playing, I would be very surprised if they won't make it at least to the play offs - but a move to the Prem in Jan might be nice ;-)

Dean Smith has gone to Villa as well, so wouldn't be surprised if Mepham was tempted to a move away in January

That is sad news. I genuinely enjoyed watching Brentford this season. Reminded me of the Arsenal of the old days ;-)

Didn't Giggs say before or after the match that he took a knock during training? I'm sure I heard him say it on call rob after the game.

Just reported on Radio Wales that Mepham and Ampadu were injury doubts. Bale wasn't ruled out, but I'd be surprised if he plays.

Looked on twitter, dragonsoccer tweeted it is a glute injury. I'd imagine thats a few weeks out if a proper glute strain.

Just came across this article about Mepham from a while back, worth a read: www.football.london/brentford-fc/brentford-wales-chris-mepham-gardener-15149951This bit is of particular relevance: The Welsh FA focus on making playing for the national team an enjoyable experience through the age groups. The Bees defender could have also played for England but his decision was an easy one in the end. He said: "For me, as soon as I represented Wales at under 20 level that was it. There was obviously that thing hanging about, until you play a competitive game that you're fully committed and you can't go back. "But for me there was never any doubt. I never once took a bit of time and thought should I hang about for England. "For me once I got the taste of representing Wales I wanted to go through with it. I've got family in Wales that have come to see me quite a lot and I was never in any doubt." He said: "I feel it a lot, you look at how young the Welsh team was this time, so many young players. It's an enjoyable environment to be in and I don't know if it's like that for every country." I wonder which country he might have in mind there...

For what its worth he did tweet saying how gutted he was drop out. Suppose Neil Taylor did the same and was playing this weekend.
