He's never come across as likeable imo. Something very harsh and brash about him, strange bloke. You can take the man out of Luton, but you can't take Luton out of the man.

Just heard the full interview on radio 5- I’ve not heard anything like it before. Cringe inducing stuff. Passive aggressive, whiny and insecure. It seems clear that his opinion of himself has been seriously challenged by Southampton’s form and it’s caused him to come out swinging in a way that makes him look awful and also is not going to get the players playing for him.
Surprised he’s still in a job to be honest. Surely will be given the boot soon after that

I am not a great fan of Nathan but alot of what he said was correct about his previous methods. Mark McAdam did an interesting section on him on sky this morning where the stats he produced tended to back Nathan up. IMO its a case of a new kid on the block being dictated to by player power within the Southampton dressing room as he has said he has changed some of his principals for the players and he regrets doing that. I like the honesty of the guy and hope the people at the top of the club back him and weed out the trouble makers. You never seem to see players openly come out and be critical of managers it is always leaked out and papers print it as an unknown source within the dressing room

He might have a point on the stats but as they said on the Monday night club on 5 live as the manager you have to front up and take some responsibility and keep the grievances in house. What he did was say “I take responsibility” and then in the same sentence throw everyone else under the bus, so not taking responsibility at all and doing so in a passive aggressive way that isn’t worthy of respect. He’s trying to put saving his reputation in front of keeping whatever squad harmony there is left and it’s potentially going to make his position untenable.
I never bought into the idea that the players weren’t playing for him so soon after he joined and their performances against Man City and Everton were good. But after that interview it’s going to be interesting to see if they are going to be playing for him now!

The next 24 hours at Southampton could be interesting as the owners are at a fans forum tonight where i imagine Nathan will be the main topic.
Will they back him or sack him ? if they dont back him are the owners owning up to a mistake they have made and is it the end of Nathan even before his career has hardly started.

Someone needs to tell him less is more!
It make Wales sound like some backwater! I know he does not mean it and he is obviously a good football coach but he is going to end up becoming an object of ridicule if he is not careful. I left a former mining community to study and forge a career in England but one does not have to reference it in that way and he does not realise, it but he is almost characterising women as if they are a commodity.

Unbelievable some here wanted him as our next manager. The bloke is a fucking clown openly flaunting his small-time mentality now.
Come to think of it, that would probably appeal to a few on here.

Haha, my mate sent me that just now and I knew it would be on here! He's been nothing but unintentional comedic gold since joining Southampton, I used to laugh at post Swansea Brendan Rogers but he's got nothing on Jones. My god, what a moron!

Good luck to the bloke. He should have been true to himself and laid down the law at Southampton from day one. His Luton side were horrible to play against and he doesn’t seem to be a particularly nice fellow, but that kind of grit is exactly what’s needed to get out of trouble. He’s getting a lot of shit because of his appearance and accent, not just what he’s said. Not so long ago Steve Cooper was being mocked for his appearance and lack of footballing nouse, and was being tipped for the sack.
I hope he turns things around but it doesn’t look good. You can’t turn bad cop with footballers after spending months mollycoddling them. Also that Southampton squad have a history of downing tools and shafting managers.

Did work well at Luton, let's give him that much. Football moves fast, that was a long time ago and Jones is already yesterday’s chip wrappings. In the space of a month he’s gone from beating Man City to the FAW saying “don’t call us, we’ll call you” Good luck starting out from the bottom again NJ

They’re just not very good, that’s the core issue. They gave effort in the cup games. There’s just a lack of ability and effort will only get you so far . That’s why plenty of us said that he was a fool to go with them. Ah well, he’s made his bed the least he could do is lie in it with good grace but he’s desperate to distance himself from his own car crash decision making and everyone can smell it on him. Too late for this grand effort to convince us otherwise

He's an idiot, there's straight talking and there's having no awareness at all and he falls into the latter. I admired the work he did at Luton and I think the two were a match made in heaven in footballing terms, everything just clicked, it won't work for him anywhere else though I doubt. I say all this about him, if he could go to Newport, stick it out and gradually build something there that's sustainable and allows the club to build a foundation and grow all would be forgotten, that's never going to happen though. He's a dickhead.

Is there anything actually wrong with his latest quote? An odd way of saying it but is it worse than stuff Van Gaal, Warnock etc. have said in the past?
But his schtick, which works well when he's winning, is being parodied now in much crueler fashion because results going against him. It's becoming a cycle of negativity which will probably end this weekend...
I still can't work out why a manager so on top of marginal gains didn't adjust his manner of talking to the media though?

Not a high bar but ageisim to say two are fun characters and one is ridiculous? I'm not a huge fan of way he talks but Klopp's refusing to speak to journalists he doesn't like, Pep is the face of sports washing project and calling out his fans for not buying ridiculously priced tickets with games finishing at ridiculous times, David Moyes defends kicking animals... All these well liked by journalists of course. Again, I think he should have foreseen it and made adjustments to make it easier for him, but also that he's been given rougher ride than most.

In absolutely shocking news he’s been sacked!
7 losses in 8 are they forgetting about the 1 win!?
I don’t care what anybody says Nathan is a top flight manager !! He will be in the top flight again next season. The only question is at who? Could it be Bala? Penybont? Maybe Pontypridd.
EDIT: 3 of us posted at the exact same time about his sacking.

Despite the fact I still think he's an unpleasant guy, he's been sounding on the verge of some sort of breakdown recently. Maybe the pressure was too much for him, and in turn, his ego couldn't handle it.
