I stand to be corrected, but wasn't that his first senior game performance? In that context it he performed very well. A bit of context wouldn't go amiss when assessing total rookies like Levitt. His second professional game, after playing in the 2-1 defeat to Astana for United last season. I thought he did really well, given his age and experience. It's difficult to compare him with Morrell, who had a better game, but is three years older, which is significant for somebody playing in his role. On the whole, some neat and tidy stuff, but also I really liked that he was trying positive and forward passes, even if most of them weren't coming off.

2nd game of senior football and he's playing away against a decent international side. No real mistakes, some nice flashes, some quiet patches - I'd rate that as a good performance all in all. It only bodes well for when he gets a season or two of men's football under his belt. He's going to be a seriously good player I think. Agree he has a more laid back, languid style as well which is easy to misconstrue. Hope he gets a decent loan after this now

Not bad but didn't set the world alight. Considering that was his first game for the seniors and Giggs threw him in the deep end you can let him off and as has been mentioned, he made no real mistakes. I have a feeling Giggs might go with Vaulks on Sunday.

I'd only watched his youtube compilations and I think I saw bits of his game for Man U last season where he completed something like 102 from 105 passes.
He was much better at breaking up play than I expected him to be. I'm not sure most people picked up on that, but he must have dispossessed Finland 4 or 5 times and was really good at it. Conversely, he was not nearly as good on the ball as I expected. If you watch the youtube compilations, they are full of inch perfect and perfectly weighted short and long passes. There were a couple of those last night, but there also lots of sloppy play. I'm not overly concerned though as you can put it down to nerves and inexperience. I expect to see a much better player on the ball in his next appearances.
overall, I thought it was an ok performance, but I think he'll show much more in his next appearances.

Do United plan to loan him out this season, or is he going to stay and provide cover and depth in what will be a very demanding season?

It's rumoured that he will go out on loan either to league 1 or championship. Their priority is to pick a club that matches his style of play, so they're not bothered if that's in L1

Good move. He can link up with Jonny in midfield again

Ummmm. Not sure I like this. Could he not get into a Champ side? DCFC? Forest?

Seems to have taken Lockyer's space after Adam Matthews turned them down. One out one in under their transfer embargo.
Don't need to be picky about the division as long as he plays. Too many don't. If it's good enough for Joe Morrell...

As he is, I think he was too lightweight for the championship, which is a tough league. Granted, not ideal playing at league 1, but don't think it will matter too much in the long run.

To me I no longer have a problem with our youth players playing in League 1, after Morrell has shown you can be a quality player in international football while plying your trade in League 1

He's only had two games of professional football. There's no harm at all going to League 1 and establishing himself in the professional game.
He'll be playing in the top two tiers in time for sure, but it's significantly better than staying in the United's U23's and perhaps getting one or two games off the bench in the League Cup all year against League 1 standard sides.

I see a lot of very harsh criticism of Levitt such as to call him ‘diabolical’ and ‘one of the worst players to wear a Welsh shirt’. The lads 19 playing his first year of senior football. Yes hes found it difficult at times in his appearances so far but he will only be a better player for this. This video shows the top talent he is and the potential he has once he finds his feet at senior level. youtu.be/ai-A5rX1HMc

Because we’ll lose games getting overrun in midfield.

I am one of those who's been harsh about him, and to be honest, I also feel sorry for him. He is clearly not good enough for this level and that was glaringly obvious after his first couple caps.
He won his 5th cap tonight and I feel Giggs is trying to force the issue with him. To me and maybe others, it just seems like he's only there because of the Utd connection. Lee Evans was never recalled by Giggs after one poor match, and Vaulks has been more or less dropped by Giggs after a few poor performances, so it just seems like blinkered favouritism to carry on pushing Levitt.
Tonight he made 3 mistakes which nearly led to an USA goal scoring opportunity.
It's only going to affect him negatively playing and struggling in games that's above his level.

His performances so far have been too poor to be true. He should definitely be nowhere near the side in competitive matches for a while, but if the coaches really do see potential in him, I don't see any harm in him being in the squad and playing friendlies. He still hasn't filled out at all yet, so I'm sure when that happens he'll make much more of an impact around the pitch.
So far I've seen a couple of real positives from him:
- His passing when it's good is very good, really fast and accurate across the surface
- He doesn't seem to lose confidence after every mistake, he keeps coming back for more which is a great trait for a young player

The issue here is whether players like this boy should be thrust into the limelight of senior football before they are both physically and more importantly mentally ready to. It's a scenario of sink or swim proportions which is clearly unfair on Levitt, and I would also include Matondo here, who have obviously shown the potential to become decent players in the making, but are clearly struggling to cope. What I find most telling is the lack of improvement in their performances, and that proves they are just not up to it.....yet anyway !
