Have I dreamt this or can he play in midfield as well? He can play in defensive midfield apparently Word on the street out in Belgium is that he is actually comfortable in all 4 positions across the back and excels in special tasks/man-marking duties. Hence, they mentioned a few times that he was called in especially to man-mark Eriksen.

Hopefully he will have the opportunity to be called up during the forthcoming qualifiers

I reckon he's our 4th choice CB as it stands.

I reckon he's our 4th choice CB as it stands. Way too early to make that call. He showed some good distribution - the ball to James in the first few minutes was brilliant! However, he wasn't tested defensively and the fact he's only played 6 from Anderlecht's 15 games this season isn't great. I would say he should be behind Ash, Chester, Mepham, Rodon and Ampadu until he plays frequently for Anderlecht and is tested against better opposition for Wales. You could even make the case that Lynch should be ahead of him.

He should be given some minutes at least during a dead-rubber match. I'm not sure we will have the opportunity to test his abilities much beyond that as surely Giggs will go for the tried and tested CBs for the tougher group games.

Was also injured at the beginning of November. So don't read too much into the lack of starts. From my readings on the Belgian press, they consider him to be a regular starter.

The truth is that none of us really know the standard of the Belgian league and this is his first season in that league.
He wasn’t really tested against Albania though he did well in general.
We don’t really know much about him other than he is 26 and hasn’t played a lot of top level football.
The jury is out at the moment but he’s another player to make our pool of available players bigger and hopefully he’ll be a great discovery.

He did play for four years in the top team in the Slovakian league, winning the double twice with them. I think they would compare favourably with a team like Glasgow Rangers or (dare I say it) Derby County. I challenge anyone to tell me that Anderlecht is a lesser team than those two...

When I finally get a chance to have a look at Jamie ... he's only on the bench - I'm sure Emery had something to do with that '=(
Seems that they have been quite poor recently, only taking 1 point in last five matches ...
6th in the league ... sounds familiar ...

Free style translation: "Just after merely half a year, Lawrence is already allowed to leave. Anderlecht is hoping to get rid of him already in this Winter [break]. [They] have already offered him to various local as well as foreign clubs. Lawrence arrived in August [...] from the Slovakian Trencin. It was the former coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck that wanted the defender Lawrence for his footballong qualities"

An unused sub today. A good sign, as he has been out injured for last six weeks.

Back to the starting 11 today at home. Playing as left sided CB.
I only saw his first 45 minutes - and that was certainly a mixed bag. Even to Flemish commentator wasn't quite sure what to make of him.
Was partly to blame with their goal (currently 0-1 down at home after losing two in a row already). He lost his winger twice earlier as well, due to sheer lack of pace.
However, he also (quite fortuitously) blocked a fantastic shot on target as well as helped his own attack and had a great shot on target saved. Considering his lack of pace, he does make a lot of late runs into the box...
Don't want to be too harsh on him, seeing that this is only the second time I've seen him, but I think unless we have a fair few injuries, he will struggle to get into our 23.

Good commitment and thanks for updating us. Seems more of someone to cover injuries than the next James Chester unfortunately.

Played again as left sided full back. Really should have done better in blocking the Liege goal and had a poor clearance a minute before that goal as well ;-(
I only saw the first 30 and final 30 minutes. In my books - he is a poor defender. Looks a little better with the ball at his feet, going forward. Seemed to be 2 or 3 inches short of 4 or 5 blocks. Can't remember him doing a single tackle.
It might be harsh on him, as he is only back from injury last week, but I certainly hope Davies / Rodon / Dummett / Chester all heal up in time for Slovakia. Otherwise, I feel I'd rather we begged ginge to come back, ahead of Jamie...

This is a dude who f**ked off to Slovakia of all places where the standard is probably lower Championship/League 1 when England & Netherlands didn't work out for him, was anyone really expecting a hidden gem?

I think he'll be a good addition. Agree looked assured in a Wales shirt. Some people take to International football and have no career to shout about at club level. Might just be a hidden gem.

We're hardly going to uncover a Welsh Sergio Ramos or Vincent Kompany are we?
We should be pleased that it's another name on the squad list, especially when we are prone to getting pretty threadbare at times.

His only regular football came when he played for a club at a League 1 standard, so he's not of great quality. I'd be more in favour of calling up Craig Morgan.

90 minutes for James today and a clean sheet. Only just, mind.... Anderlecht are really nowhere near the team I remembered from ten years ago ;-(
As for James. He had another mixed bag of a match. Looks a lot fitter than what he did even last week, which is encouraging. Also, he seems to play more comfortably with five at the back (being the left sided CB in a three).
He did track back really well twice with last gasp tackles, but also failed to block two shots on target that he really should have done batter with.
Finally, he really is very comfortable going forward and won a couple of free-kicks in dangerous positions on his forward sorties.
All in all, for me, 6.5/10.

Given that this league is a step up for him, I think he is still adjusting, therefore a few mistakes are to be expected. Hoping he can adapt and keep improving.

A massive match today for James v Club Bruges. They haven't lost to them at home in 21 years... Good to see James starting again. His fifth full game this year, since coming back from injury in late January.
EDIT
I only saw 50 minutes or so and, once again, a bit of a mixed bag. Just when I am starting to warm to him in the centre of a back 5, he goes and loses the ball cheaply or simply doesn't close down well. I didn't see the first goal (after 5') but seeing it was from Wesley (which he marked) I imagine James might have had something to do with it. That said, he did keep him quiet for the rest of the first half and had plenty of flying tackles and clearances.
He certainly could have done better for the Bruges' second equaliser. Not entirely his own fault, but still...
An option for the 23, but will need to convince me if he wants to be in the 11.
