That's a surprise. Would not have predicted that.
There has been some speculation that Giggs and Roberts were in discussions with a young player about switching allegiance.
Many of us feared it could have been Matondo or Ampadu. It has also been suggested that Giggs might have been referring to Michael Sparkes or Joe Silva.
Perhaps James Lawrence might have been the subject of these discussions, seeing as they have apparently been ongoing for at least the last six months?

Although, from my memory the person posting about this said that the player in question had already been involved in the youth setup for another country. So obviously this doesn't apply to Lawrence. I think there used to be a thread with all the potential fringe players who could be involved in our setup, and I remember reading about Lawrence at the time. I didn't think much at the time because he was 26 and playing for Trenčin. I had no idea that he had moved to Anderlecht. Great news for him and for us. A nice surprise for the call up and hopefully he can have an opportunity to show us what he's all about against Albania. |

Anderlecht paid £450’000.00 for him. Doesn’t sound a lot in 2018 but enough to have seen something in him.

I remember thinking that it came out of the blue but with no social media and four anglocentric tv channels in those days we didn’t hear an awful lot about welsh footy |

Not sure exactly why, but ive found this call up quite inspiring. The fact there are undiscovered eligible players out there who are playing regular football at a decent level is quite exciting.
Maybe another factor is that things got so stale under Coleman, that this feels like a more progressive approach to squad development.
Obviously he may not be near good enough for us, but he looks the business, and in just the area we need!

Anybody know what the standard the League in Belgium is like? When I was living in Antwerp, about 15 years ago, John O’Shea, Danny Higginbottom and Luke Chadwick played for Royal Antwerp.
Anderlecht and Club Bruges have always been streets ahead financially, although AA gent were good for a short spell recently.

I feel he gave us something extra when he came off the bench against Romania but someone choked on the penalty and the rest is history |

Yeah Andy Dorman even said publicly many times how he felt Welsh and wanted to play for us. Eventually did, not sure how many caps did he get? Used to get him mixed with Brian Stock at the time. |
