Is the £39 option definitely going straight to Budapest after the match or the following day?

I never thought that I would ever mutter the words ... but thank G-d for Ryan Air messing up their connections ;-) I booked on Kiwi.com RA Bristol to Cologne and then German Wings to Zagreb. RA delayed their first leg by seven hours, making it impossible. KIWI GUARANTEE
So got a text today offering full refund of both legs and I was happy enough to re-book on the same day to BUDAPEST - now that I have the Pecs to Osijek option sussed ;-)
A couple of notes about the Kiwi Guarantee:
1/. The full refund is only for the air-fare and any taxes, but it does not include the €8 I paid for the RA Priority Booking. They claim that I can approach RA directly for that ...
2/. Not only is there no advantage opting for Kiwi Credit (unlike Wizz Air that give you 120% refund if opt for Wizz Credit). But there is no way of using only a part of the credit, if the next booking you make is a LOWER FARE...
3/. Still, very happy with full refund minus €8 onto credit card (within 3 working days...) especially as my Budapest ticket was €12 cheaper. Here is hoping that Easy Jet doesn't mess that up ;-)
Finally, if anyone is using Kiwi.com you can get €10 OFF using the code KIWICOM10 - if booking is over €50. If booking is over €200 then get €20 OFF with KIWICOM20 - you can certainly use the first code twice, though ;-)

Is the £39 option definitely going straight to Budapest after the match or the following day? I'd say it's very likely. The buses returning to Zagreb are going back the same night so I don't see why the ones heading to Budapest wouldn't as they're similar distances.

stage 1 1000 sold ; stage 2 / 200 ; stage 3 / 100 ; 4 / 80 ; 5 / 120 : 6 / 200 Thus, my best guess, for Croatia is:
Stage 1 - seven or more aways - from 12 - if we have circa 1000 allocation Stage 1 - six or more aways if we have circa 1200 allocation
How confident are you on the figures of stage 1 sales for Albania? 1000 out of 1496 eligible purchased, is that correct?

Forgive the duplicity, but I feel it is important to post this here as well as on the new Welsh Footie thread... DIRECT TRAIN FROM OSIJEK TO PECSI just found out that there is a brand new 4X daily DIRECT train to Pécs - started December 2018. Pecs is a UNESCO World Heritage site ;-) The journey, including a 30 minutes stop at the border, takes 2'30'' costing 25 kn (£3). The most practical is a 10:12 departure arriving Pecs at 12:42. The next one departs Osijek at 13:20 ... From Pécs there are at least 9 express trains daily to Budapest Kelenföld and Deli stations - taking only 3 hours / 4300 fl / £12. If you prefer the train, but want to skip Pecs there is an onward Express train at 13:10 arriving to Kelenfold at 16:20 - so total travel time of just over six hours.
If you really want to avoid the celebrations on Saturday after the match, there is a 18:13 departure as well, that will get you into Pecs at 20:42.
The train stops briefly at Beli Manastir and Pélmonostor.
The Hungarian and Croatian rail schedules only show the train to the border points ...

Just need somewhere to store my luggage in Osijek now 🤔 I got into Osijek station from Belgrade and Novi Sad stations, and my first impression was WWWOOOWWWW. Super modern, everyone spoke perfect English, credit card machines at the Kasa and no questions at all with a Mature Student requesting a 50% Student Discount ;-)
I didn't specifically look out for them, but I'd be shocked if there were no lockers for storage.

Struggling to find much information on this route. Can't seem to find information on Croatian or Hungarian trains websites Any help on where to look? Scratch that, you have to change in Beli Manastir.

So how are we all getting to Osijek if we aren't going back to Zagreb or on to Budapest? Flying into Split on Friday morning, getting a taxi into Trogir from the airport, it’s a really nice place on the coast and only 3k from the airport. Afternoon there for a few beers and a decent meal. Flying to Osijek from Split on Friday evening. Staying in Osijek Saturday night and flixbus to Budapest on Sunday morning.

Looks like staying in Osijek on the Saturday night is the best option. Maybe a few hours in Pecs on Sunday and then on to Budapest late afternoon Plan to go to Esztergom and Szentendre on Monday as a day trip.

IF FLYING INTO ZAGREB AND PREFER TO STAY IN PECS FRIDAY NIGHT?
Luckily for me, I am no longer flying into Zagreb...
However, if you are arriving into Zagreb by 3pm (or just staying overnight) AND you prefer not taking the 5-HOUR Friday train to Osijek (3/daily departing at 06:52 / 09:49 / 16:38) or simply prefer to overnight in Pecs.
You can take the International train towards Budapest, departing at 16:38 only to Gyékényes (arrive 18:08) Depart 19:25 and arrive PECS at 21:49 - total of 5'11'' (including a 70 minute break for immigration/customs)
Just a thought
