So how are we all getting to Osijek if we aren't going back to Zagreb or on to Budapest? Flying into Split on Friday morning, getting a taxi into Trogir from the airport, it’s a really nice place on the coast and only 3k from the airport. Afternoon there for a few beers and a decent meal. Flying to Osijek from Split on Friday evening. Staying in Osijek Saturday night and flixbus to Budapest on Sunday morning. Sounds like same flights me and the mrs are on. From Manchester? Hadn't thought about leaving the airport! Sounds like a plan.

Yeh from Manchester, I can highly recommend Trogir, it’ll only be a couple of quid in a taxi and saves sitting in an airport for 6 hours. was a lovely place when I went 20 odd years ago!

So how are we all getting to Osijek if we aren't going back to Zagreb or on to Budapest? Thanks to Ryan Air cancelling my Zagreb flight two days after Osijek was announced ;-)) ... Flying into Budapest and using Pecs as a hub in/out of Osijek.
Are you guaranteed to get the 18:15 train after the game? Half an hour walk and could be held in for a while after the game.

HOT SPRINGS JUST OUTSIDE OSIJEK
This was posted by @flumy on the ThornTree
Bizovačke toplice are situated roughly 25 km from Osijek and less than 2 km from the village called Bizovac
The facility is brand new / built in 2016 on an ancient thermal site
A local bus company called Panturist ( prodaja.panturist.hr/ runs regular direct bus connections between Osijek and Bizovačke toplice, unfortunately not on weekends. Anyway, you can also use local buses that run to Bizovac instead to Bizovačke toplice and then walk there. Be informed that the water in Bizovačke toplice is salty.
Week-day departures at 0745 / 0900 / 1045 / 1115 / 1230 - trip takes 30 minutes / costs 20 kn / £2.30
ALL-DAY PACKAGE that includes access to all thermal pools , 1-hour at the sauna, lunch and special tea is 99kn / £11. Regular adult entrance and use of facilities is only 40kn (mid-week) - £5. The cheapest equivalent in Budapest will cosr you 4 times that price...
There are swimming pools as usual - including a huge wave pool - an Aquapark and a health centre. Pebble sunbathing area, soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, sandy volleyball court, handball court and a modern playground. Fitness centre, slide etc. All sports facilities are included in the entrance fee.
As far as Zagreb is concerned it is indeed encircled by various hot springs, but unfortunately, it is required at least an hour or even more of bus ride to reach them. The reason for such a situation is in the fact that the largest majority of hot springs visitors use their own cars to reach them. There used to be a time of specifically designated trains that connected Zagreb with hot springs for city population, but they are discontinued with the arrival of car era.

Osijek looks fully booked up Friday-Sunday on Booking.com Think I've missed the boat on the accommodation leigh doing bus zagreb to osijek and then onto budapest straight after game A very decent option is TUFNA HOSTEL - wonderfully located in the old part of town, about a mile North of the bus/rail station, and just over a mile from the stadium.
They still have 4 empty beds in their 6-bed dorm.
Its £15 pppn.

As for osijek being withrawn from list
I think this has happened because over last two years ryanair had pulled out tand theyre used to have daily flights from there and there are no longer daily flights to other european cirties and thus do not meet the rule

Just put the game on in Zagreb you awkward ****s This ^^^ Huge sympathy for those that have booked around the game being in Osijek but for the extra 1000 or so supporters that could now get to see the game this could be great news. Was there any feedback on the interest survey for these games ? What they do need to do now is clarify this immediately so people can get on with their arrangements.

Booked to fly to Zagreb the other day when the FAW and Croatian FA confirmed it, so would prefer it to be played in Zagreb. As long as it’s not Split, that would be a lot of travelling by bus, as well as the bus towards Budapest too 🙄

Hope it's in Zagreb, we cancelled our 2nd night there as we booked on the coach to go straight to Budapest so it'd be nice if we could actually get it confirmed and stopped being messed about.

Yeah, it would be ridiculous. I’ve just got a bad feeling that it will be Split, mainly due to all the early rumours before Osijek was announced that the Croatian FA wanted it to be played in Split.

Not sure the FAW would let them get away with announcing Osijek then moving to the other side of the country? Well I'd hope not anyway.

Ok so had a look into the type of matches played in Split and I don't think they'll play it there (touch wood). In the last 10 years they've only played 3 games there. One a qualifying game against Georgia in 2011. One a friendly against Switzerland in 2012. Then they didn't play there again until 2015 where they played a qualifier against Italy but this was behind closed doors.
It'd be nothing short of a disgrace if the match isn't played in Osijek and moved to Split instead of Zagreb.

Knowing our luck they'll play it in Rijeka. They did play a world cup qualifier against Finland in October 2017 so its not completely out of the question. Capacity 8279 including capacity for away fans of 412. I predict a meltdown. 11 out of 12 aways gets you a ticket.
