As we are booked to fly to Osijek via Split it would be better for us if it was Split, but the sensible choice has to be Zagreb simply for the increased ticket allocation. The bigger the red wall the better!

I don't think it can possibly be in Split now whatever happens, seeing as the FAW site listed Osijek which is at least 8 hours from Split. Has anyone else noticed on Google maps that Zagreb to Split which was a 6 hour journey a few weeks ago is now only a 4 hour journey? So perhaps split won't be so bad after all.

Looking at Flixbus - all their coaches indicate a 5 hour journey, with a 20 minute restaurant break. I imagine that 4-hours is do-able.
The train is six hours, though ;-(

DS reading from this that its still Osijek ... although, reading between the lines ... looks more likely to be Split?

DS reading from this that its still Osijek ... although, reading between the lines ... looks more likely to be Split? I would fully expect reports from Croatia to be sticking to the line that it is Osijek. So I don't read too much into it. For what it's worth, I do think it will still end up being osijek.

BILO JE I VRIJEME: EVO KAD ĆE REPREZENTACIJA ZAIGRATI NA POLJUDU! AUTOR: F. G. | OBJAVLJENO: 16.02.2019 u 10:38
FOTO:
Osamdeset dana kasnije, 8. lipnja, u Gradskom vrtu ugostit će Wales.
“Nema dileme da svi želimo u Split i to želimo iskreno. Izbornik Dalić i igrači žele vidjeti svoje navijače u Dalmaciji.
ožujka, 20:45 (četvrtak): Hrvatska – Azerbajdžan (Zagreb) 24. ožujka, 18:00 (nedjelja): Mađarska – Hrvatska lipnja, 15:00 (subota): Hrvatska – Wales (Osijek) rujna, 20:45 (petak): Slovačka – Hrvatska 9. rujna, 18:00 (ponedjeljak): Azerbajdžan – Hrvatska listopada, 20:45 (četvrtak): Hrvatska – Mađarska (Split?) 13. listopada, 20:45 (nedjelja): Wales – Hrvatska 16. studenoga, 20:45 (subota): Hrvatska – Slovačka (Split?)

Prihvaćam EVERYTHING IS TIME: EVEN WHEN REPRESENTATION WILL BE REQUESTED ON THE POLE! AUTHOR: F. G. | Released: 16.02.2019 at 10:38
PHOTO:
Croatian Football Association President Davor Šuker said that the national team in the current year will "surely" visit Poljud. He did not specify, but announced.
"Croatian national team will certainly be in Split," Davor Šuker said on Friday in Livno on Dalić's official promotion of the book "Russia of Our Dreams".
Teamwork at Poljud after almost four years?
Davor Šuker pointed out that a lot of factors have to be "fulfilled" for the organization of the match on Poljud.
"Give it to the City of Split, the owner of the stadium, and Hajduk, who is a pride and a godfather in this area. No one in HNS has anything against playing in Split, we can not wait because we know the stadium will be full. People in Dalmatia prefer a representation, players would like to play. I've always been playing all over Croatia, but laws have to be fulfilled. Like the security of all actors, "he warned of New TV.
Slovakia and Hungary at the Poljudska ljepota?
Croatia will start in March with qualifications for the European Championship in 2020. The opening match of the qualifying cycle opens on March 21 with Azerbaijan on Maksimir. Eighty days later, June 8, Wales will host the City Garden.
The household question for October 10 against Hungary and November 16 against Slovakia is still unspecified, but Poljud is imposing on a variety of promises as a logical choice.
In December 2018, Hajduk submitted to the Croatian Football Association a candidacy for organizing qualifying matches at Poljud against Hungary and Slovakia.
"There is no dilemma that we all want Split and we want it honestly. Menu Dalić and players want to see their fans in Dalmatia. Split and Dalmatia deserve to look at the world's enthusiasts and Modrov Luka. With the menu I was already in Split and we started the conversations. The national team will come to Split, "HNS director of competition, infrastructure and development Marijan Kustić promised at the beginning of February for the Index.
Croatia was the last guest of Poljud on June 12, 2015 in the field of European qualifications with Italy. Prior to Italy, on June 3, 2011, Poljud hosted Georgia.
For years back, it is a practice that most of the national matches are scheduled at Maksimir.
Schedule and odds of all qualifiers for the European Championship in 2020
March, 20:45 (Thursday): Croatia - Azerbaijan (Zagreb) March 24, 18:00 (Sunday): Hungary - Croatia June, 15:00 (Saturday): Croatia - Wales (Osijek) September, 20:45 (Friday): Slovakia - Croatia September 9, 18:00 (Monday): Azerbaijan - Croatia October, 20:45 (Thursday): Croatia - Hungary (Split?) October 13, 8:45 pm (Sunday): Wales - Croatia November 16, 8:45 pm (Saturday): Croatia - Slovakia (Split?)
Sounds to me like it's only the Slovakia and Hungary game where they are considering Split

Surely this adds fuel to the fire for a relocation. Osijek cannot cope with two sporting occasions. Prehaps Wales was a financial sweetner incase they didnt get it. This gives me hope. Nice one

Osijek was already full to capacity within a day of our match been announced - now with this other Festival taking place, I imagine loads of small guest-houses / hotels cancelling and then putting their prices up... At least if the FAW know, they will be able to use this as ammunition for relocating to Zagreb (or Minsk).

After this extreme sports and music festival has been announced i cannot see how our game can go ahead in Osijek as the city isn't big enough to accommodate both events The music festival is said to be the largest electro event in South Eastern Europe - and with Belgrade being a mere 100 miles down the road, that is one serious claim! At least no one will get to say that Osijek was a sleepy provincial town this time around ;-)
... and its all happening at the ... Copa ... Copacabana ...

That is some claim as Exit in Novi Sad and Sziget in Hungary being huge electronic music festivals. Now I wouldn't mind going along to this if the game is in Osijek Managed to book a hotel with free cancellation weeks ago so I won't lose out if the game is not there. I'm holding back on booking accommodation in Hungary until we know where the game in Croatia is being played

All we have to go by at the moment, fair to say this has been an utter shit show. I hope they've been made fully aware that are no hotel rooms available anywhere in the town or vicinity. To me that a much more salient point than the airport have insufficient ( no ) international connections. That could influence their decision but once its made there'll be no altering of it. We need to be sure that UEFA are fully aware of that before they make the decision.
