Not many that were worse for Wales.... I’m sure Vinnie was a PR stunt by Gould

The days of Gould & Vinnie Jones were the undoubted low point. Shame on the FAW back then for initiating it all, thank goodness we’re a much more professional set-up these days.

He's been playing very well Allen obviously is ahead of him, same with Ampadu, but not the others for me, certainly not King and Huws Huws is a true Welshman though So am I, doesn't mean I should start up front

A lot of humble pie will be eaten in June when Vaulks comes off the bench to score a 25 yard winner against Italy in Rome. Can just see it now. 60,000 Italians in stunned bewilderment as Keiffer Moore rises to head in a Will Vaulks throw. I doubt many Europeans have ever seen a long throw. Most will laugh but some may cry. Seriously though he's in good position particularly if city kick on from here and make the play offs. He's bound to get some reflective glory along with a boost in confidence. As for the rest there's no one in the squad who can claim to be playing regularly and on form.

Don't see how being a "True Welshman" matter either. Surely you wouldn't have said that when comparing Ashley Williams to a Welsh born lesser centre back a couple of years ago?

He was out of his depth in Croatia. Has he been playing well for Cardiff? Allen, Morrell, Ampadu, Smith, King, Huws & Joniesta are all ahead of him for me. He's been playing very well Allen obviously is ahead of him, same with Ampadu, but not the others for me, certainly not King and Huws That's good to hear! From what I've seen Huws and King are better options, and I'd certainly play Joniesta, Smith and Morrell ahead of him.

For me, Huws' fitness can't be relied upon, same goes for Williams (Vaulks also provides a physical edge that Williams can't), I think Vaulks proved pretty conclusively last night he's ahead of King. If Vaulks continues to play (and play well) for Cardiff, it would be pretty unfair to include players in a lower division ahead of him in Morrell and Huws

Vaulks hasn't looked comfortable enough in possession when I've seen him, but hope he continues his good form!

I haven't really seen enough of Vaulks to make a judgement. It sounds like he has a good strike and high workrate, but is he good enough at retaining possession and defensive discipline? Can he do a job at the base of midfield next to Allen? It may be worth taking him because morrell, allen and smith are all very similar players and Vaulks offers something different. But, at the same time, given the attacking players we have in front of the midfield 2 in those front four positions, what we need at the base is players who are good passers, keep shape, keep us ticking over and break up play. Can vaulks do that? If not, does he fit into our system?
I don't think king can do it, so he's definitely in front of king for me. I'm not sure about Huws, I gather that's the role he plays for Ipswich so he may be an option (and clearly has far more natural talent than Vaulks), but is he 'busy' enough in midfield to do a job for us, or is he another Owain Tudur Jones where games just pass him by despite having good technical ability? Joniesta has to go for me, but I would take him in addition to one of vaulks, smith orhuws. Plenty to ponder!

Another Vaulks long throw that leads to an equalizer ;-)
Did I see an aeroplane celebration by Kieffer in front of the Canton, after his goal ;-))<!---->

Can all those in the first 2 or 3 rows in Baku please pack an extra towel especially for young William.
That long throw is quite something!

sorry if this has been mentioned previously - but is it worth having vaulks in the squad for his long throws? it does mean he offers something no one else does (apart from bale). and with a big boy in moore up top it could be a real weapon if we're chasing a game.

If it's purely for that then I'd rather someone else got the squad place. A lot of people mention the lack of depth in midfield but we are quite blessed there in my opinion.

For what it's worth I thought he was Cardiffs best player again last night.
Faint praise mind, bit like being the world's tallest dwarf!!

Still at fault for the goal by not tracking his man into the box, unfortunately this is the biggest flaw in his game. He's done ok recently going forward but defensively he's often caught out by average 2nd tier teams. The Swiss/Turks/Italians will eat him alive like the Croats did.

‘Vaulks with a massive throw, Yeeeesssss Wales have done it’. 89 minutes Rome. 72 Welsh fans unfortunately die with Coronavirus in the weeks after. But like Bill Shankly said the football was more important.

Should not make the 23.

If he plays in Rome were screwed. Should not make the 23. I wish we had better alternatives, but after Allen and Amps, who do we have as DCM backup? Morrell will go cos he’s done well for us, but let’s not forget he hasn’t proved himself above league 1 yet. Then it’s Smith or Vaulks, and Smith can’t get a game in the championship. So 4th spot currently has to go to Vaulks, who’s playing decent in the championship.
