Away to Burnley certainly a baptism of fire,if he can cope with that there will be nothing in that league to faze him.

Withstood the acid test. Last 40' Rovers were down to 10 - and Burnley were actively targetting him - but played well and - frankly - I wouldn't be surprised seeing him start in one of our games!

Connor Roberts, to best of my knowledge, is the only one who has played under Bellamy as a senior coach which may be important in helping getting messages across in the early days.
Re: Beck
I watched the second half and he did pretty well albeit with Ryan Hedges acting as a senior pro ahead of him. He looked a bit like Neco Williams in the early days, including hitting the deck and making us think he needed the physio twice, and has a cracking accent.
I would be surprised to see him start either game but think he's one for the future (at international level) and hopefully gets to continue in the Blackburn shirt.

To my untrained eye, it looked to me, that at least in this game, Conner was played in mid-field, as an 8 most of the time - with freedom to do the occasional diagonal runs in both directions. With his running and heading abilities, he can certainly be a target man for corsses from Koumas and Colwill

If it's anything like he was last time with Burnley in the Championship, he will have been playing at full back but encouraged to go infield when Burnley are on the ball to help outnumber them in midfield. Basically what we see with Kimmich, Trent, the Spurs full backs and many others. You'll see a lot of that in a Wales shirt under Bellamy

Highlights compilation here for anyone that hasn't seen him play. Seems like the left footed Neco in how attacking he is, however, his runs are more surging like old school Bale rather than the cute turns Neco pulls off. Hopefully his inclusion means Davies can be used as a CB www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVZa2emR0Ew

looks like Owen came into the senior squad late this international camp (late being before it went public on 28th August and after all clubs/players were told of their call up)

Oh no apologies. I don't doubt that's fact. I'm just wondering why he was called up late. I feel you may know.

Blackburn have posted a few tweets raving about Beck's debut yesterday and just posted this compilation. He'll have his work cut out to keep his spot as their left back (Pickering) has had a great start to the season but was injured yesterday - but a really good start nonetheless. He's always looked a work in progress defensively but known for his great engine and attacking intent. He showed yesterday however that he can also do the other side of the game. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of those rampaging runs, goals and assists when he comes up against inferior opposition over the course of the season. x.com/Rovers/status/1830297076468785400

His anticipation and awareness looks very impressive, let's hope he keeps his place, you can't really be dropped after a debut like that

From what I understand Pickering is a very defensive left back and Beck offers something very different. I think he'll be there to stay in the starting XI
He looks ready for international football imo

Before we get too carried away he only got a 6.6 on Fotmob. Won 3 out of 7 tackles and 9 out of 19 ground Duels. Completed only 9 of 21 passes. The most impressive thing about those stats is the amount of work he got through. To be involved in 19 ground Duels in one game is phenomenal.
Ryan Hedges got a 7.5 rating, the best amongst Blackburn players. I wonder if he may be called up if Matondo is out.

Wouldn't mind Hedges. Different profile to wide options we've got. Proper workhorse and left footed left midfielder. Handy if needing to double up or hold the width.
Again wouldn't start but handy off the bench

Didn't see the game, but a couple of Blackburn fans of my acquaintance, and even a Burnley fan, thought Beck was arguably man of the match, and certainly Blackburn's best player, and feel it's his place to lose now.
Didn't feel he had this in him when he was at Bolton, I said at the time he was clearly skillful but lacked real physicality, drive and presence, and seemed to respond slowly to what was going on around him, but sounds like he's really matured physically and mentally as a player in Scotland.

Yes. Agree. I saw about 70% of the match and he was seriously physical. Really dug in there and was very lucky not to be carded...

lol thats what I thought too he was flying into some of those challenges, work rate looked really good some of those challenges could be risky at international level

Fotmob stats can be a bit deceptive, although I do use them myself for a general overview if I didn't watch a game.

some of those challenges could be risky at international level I am hoping the Bellamy recognises this. Continental referees are far stricter in their application of law than ones in the English period.

Owen was making his debut away in a fierce local derby, I don't think he'll be tackling and diving in like that all the time, it was the occasion and maybe he was a little fired up and wanted to endear himself to the travelling support.

After Iceland beating Denmark last week, a victory out there will be HUGE :+) PS - from the big boys' squad numbers on dragonsoccer it looks like Owen has travelled to Podgorica. It will be exciting to see him get 30 minutes if things go well, but he will be a big miss in Iceland.

Search his name on Twitter, and see the glowing feedback on his performance today. So that's two games in, two brilliant performances. Keep this up and he'll give Bellamy a real selection headache at full back in a month or two!
