Jasper T from the Independent Swans forum" "8 defensive players against a side ranked 95th in the world, in a game we needed to win. Two Bournemouth players who don't play the focal point of our limited attack. He stuck with what bailed him out last time even though it was a completely different game." Very succinctly put. It's almost as if he was so traumatised by the home game that he over-compensated, and went ultra defensive. One thing we haven't seen since Coleman and Roberts were in charge is how they held one wingback back whilst the one on the opposite side went forward, with the 3 centre backs shuffling across to give a back 4. This gives added insurance, and enabled Gunter and Taylor to have more freedom to attack. Page's use of our wingbacks is far short of what it could be. Completely agree, although I have to say the majority of fans were calling for the same XI because of momentum. However, I think you always have to pick the best team to beat what's in front of you. Armenia playing the same formation as us should have caused Page to question what the best way of beating them is. Maybe he thought we could do similar things to them but do it better? A fair way of looking at it, but he should have responded when it wasn't working and had a plan B ready to go I think that's half the problem. Page seems to have no novel ideas or tactical acumen. He never seems to come up with an original idea or outmanoeuvre his counterpart.

His main problem has been his lack of a plan b.

I do wonder if we'd have set up like that had Ramsey been available. It may have been more luck than judgement. The main concern, is, as you say, an inability to adapt tactically during games.hapotbtonalliw Gabe Vs America as a rare exception to that.
