Rob Page is sacked after failing to take us to Euro 2024, and following two poor friendly performances/results against Gibraltar & Slovakia
The next manager is tasked with seeing us consolidate our position in League B, bring through fringe/young players to build up a pool of trustworthy players outside of the core 14-15 players we use, and to build towards a home tournament in 2028 with a World Cup campaign in between
Who is the man for the job?

Can we have the option the best person for the job regardless of nationality, who has decent and relevant experience!
No more learning on the job please and lets please have meritocracy in terms of who we select
PS - no Roy Keane please as he failed as a manager and it just would never work!

Part of me wants Bellamy purely because it could be a complete masterstroke or absolute chaos. There'd be entertainment at least lol

Osh with a continental number 2. If Roberts doesn’t want it then let’s look abroad, time for a complete change.

Saw Davide Ancelotti mentioned, did his Pro-Licence via FAW. Interesting long-shot perhaps!?
I think Bellamy has matured enough to manage people on and off the pitch and I'd love to see him get a crack at the job.

I think the best international managers:
- can bring in new insight/ideas having worked in different countries or closely with managers grounded in different footballing cultures;
- have worked with different age groups so can manage the older heads still so important and bring through the young players;
- understands/can quickly come to understand the country so can bring the nation together (and resist the media pressure);
- are committed so don't run off halfway through a campaign; and
- ideally a record of winning.
Bellamy previously and and now Osian going abroad is something I like. This doesn't necessarily mean they're the right choice,just that I like this string to their bow.

I’d add tactically astute and can read a game in real time and know how to affect it.

I'm a bit surprised at the level of enthusiasm for Bellamy. People are overlooking the fact that as a player he was a bit of a bellend, with a lot of really classless behaviour. Has he really matured that much? I can't help thinking he's an accident waiting to happen. And decent though he has done as an assistant, he has no track record as a manager. To me there are too many red flags, and I think the FAW will see it that way too, especially after the Giggs experience.
If Bellamy is in the running then so should Cameron Toshack. The only reason he's not being considered is his lack of a playing pedigree, which should be a very minor consideration. His coaching credentials are at least as strong as Bellamy's without the baggage. Assistant in the Premier League under Marsch at Leeds, managed briefly in Cyprus and did well, managed Swansea U23s and did well, bringing through Dan James, Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon and Ollie McBurnie. I think his chances are limited because of the lack of name recognition - but if the FAW want a Welsh manager, and Osian isn't available, then he should be interviewed. Although apparently he may be of interest to Newport, so I would hope that we are proactive and encourage him to apply ar least before he's tied down.

His record is worse than Page's. Surely the Swedish pool of talent is greater than ours too.

Unproven as a manager. And although non football was bankrupt last year which hardly points to somebody who is control of his life. Toshack has more credibility and I’d prefer him over Bellamy.

The thought of a women manager will boil the piss of some, but a suggestion for me is Jayne Ludlow. I absolutely love listening to her; her knowledge of the game, understanding of tactics, player psychology etc is superb.
His latest roles haven't been so successful, but I think that Carl Robinson would make an excellent (budget) Manager.

His record is worse than Page's. Surely the Swedish pool of talent is greater than ours too. Qualified for their first World Cup in 12 years, won the group stage and reached the quarter final in 2018. Again qualified for Euro 2020 and topped the group, knocked out in round of 16. Didn’t end well, not qualifying for 2022 WC. I think he’s quite organised and tactical, puts a lot of rules in place and doesn’t give his teams much freedom so could be frustrating for some players and similar to Page but possibly a bit more tactically aware.

Let’s be honest. It’s a two horse race. Bellamy or Osian. I’m sure in the betting there’ll be the usual suspects. Nathan Jones, Thierry Henry because of FAW UEFA coaching badge, Chris Coleman , Cameron Toshack, Matt Jones, Roy Keane. Osian or Bellamy at the end of the day.

I get wanting to be progressive but Ludlow has a 38% win ratio as an international manager. For context Page has a 37% win ratio and we've just sacked him. Even if she had double that win ratio the vast physical difference in men's football vs women's leads to completely different tactics being viable and making the switch rare and hard to do. To put it simply the Welsh FA would have to be brain dead or suicidal to go with her.

They must've adapted, so it's perfectly possible for a woman to too.

My main reservation with Ludlow would be how we fell short against an average Northern Ireland team. She had a reputation for being too defensively minded I believe and that really caught up with us in the home game against Northern Ireland. Given the quality we had on the pitch at the time who were in their prime and the fact we had taken England all the way to the last game at home in the previous WC game then you have to really question the contribution of the manager when you get the kind of outcome that team suffered

The physical abilities of men vs women leads to different tactics being applicable and viable in each version of the sport. There's a reason there isn't a bunch of crossover in the managers department.

I mean Page qualified us for our first World Cup in decades. First one to qualify for two straight finals. We got out of the group in the Euros. I had a quick Google and he relegated Sweden to group C in the Nations League. We weren't happy with Page, but if he relegated us to group C he would have been dragged out of the CCS.
