Back in the goals today. We may need him for the double header so good to see.

Sam was only an unused sub today. Disappointing, considering he scored one and had an assist last week? Is he carrying a knock?

12 goals away from 100 league goals.
Should we make more of the big man?

Underused in my opinion
If we play 2 wingers you need a target man or if we go 3-5-2
Could even have this
Hennessy
Robert's Mepham Ampadu Davies
Ramsey Allen
Brooks James
Bale
Vokes

If he put away a couple of those chances in Albania he would have featured more. I think that game finished him off in Giggs' eyes.

Personally think if Vokes starts then one of Brooks / James should start on the bench.

Assuming you mean Vokes, then yes he is. 62 caps and 11 goals. Or are we talking this assumed nonsense again that 'international quality' is some kind of elite? It isn't. Its football between nations. Whoever's good enough to play for those nations during their careers are 'international quality', and that includes Sam Vokes.

Agreed. He is the best out and out centre forward we have and he has been for years.
11 international goals is more than anyone else in the squad except Bale.

That’s a pretty poor record though especially when you look at chances he has missed. It’s why the goal in the Euros against Belgium was even more spectacular than it looked- because he misses the easier chances. And you can use that argument to say that players who play for San Marino are international class. When really they are warm bodies who are lucky enough to take advantage of the low skill cap in that nation to play against giants of the game. It’s great for them and I don’t begrudge it but I don’t see that you can take their skill level as justification that Vokes is a worthy international footballer, he has just been fortunate to play in an era when we have had nowt in the cupboard. He wouldn’t have got a look in in the era of Rush, Saunders, Hughes etc.

He is the best striker we have who would you go for Bradshaw 🤣

He is the best striker we have who would you go for Bradshaw 🤣 That kind of proves my point in a way though- he is only there because we have no-one else. So fine, call him up, but we can’t pretend he’s a top international standard player. And without hashing the whole Bradshaw thing again the reason I wanted to see us play friendlies and cap alternatives is precisely because of this situation. We know what the likes of Vokes can do- we should have been auditioning for replacements in Coleman’s era but Coleman seemed to run a closed shop. It’s nice to see Giggs trying to expand the player base and I don’t think anyone would say that was a bad idea...but it’s interesting that Giggs hasn’t really experimented much up front which suggests that at the moment we don’t even have any surprise caps out there like Lawrence in defence. Oh, I forgot Kieffer Moore, although whether we will ever see him in a Wales shirt is debatable and he’s probably much the same mould as Vokes from what I hear.

At least Bradshaw is playing and scoring at the moment. Hmm...early in the season yet...although if he keeps scoring he will give Giggs a question. I personally thought, from the little we saw, that his movement was great. I think he could maybe do a job with the likes of Wilson and Lawrence. But either way Bale should be our sole striker as it stands, no matter what form he is in.

But that's exactly my point - the San Marino players are 'international quality', because 'international quality' is a measure of nothing more than being good enough to play for your nation. Its is a meaningless term when discussing the qualities of a player.
