Not looking good for our Geordie. Benitez has signed a left back and said he had been looking to strengthen the position for a while. The player will give more quality in the final third he added. What now for Dummett, a spell on the bench at best I think he'll start to feel very Welsh in the coming weeks now.

Hasn't kicked a ball since Christmas and I seem to remember hearing that he went over to the USA to look into having surgery. Really not looking good for us v Slovakia, with Rodon also being out. Thank God Ginge is Red Hot and been named in Team of the Week twice in two weeks. I am sure a phone call from Giggs will make him come out of retirement ;-)

Only on the bench again today. So obviously, not 100% fit yet.
I wonder with Rodon not showing any signs of healing, if Andrew Hughes of PNE might get a call-up?

If he's on the bench, then it probably won't be too long before he's ready. I'm hoping he'll be match fit by the time that the qualifiers roll around in a couple of weeks!

Must be the worry of not being picked by Giggs ;-)

Paul had a decent game today. Very solid and seemed to be at the heart of all the major tackles and clearances. In a back three for us?

Paul named in PL Team of the Week ;-) With both him and Neil playing very well and Connor showing how well he can play ... we are getting our defence back just in time.

Composed, confident. Still some way to go to win me over after his previous commitment issues, but he's making progress.

Will be a starter if we go 5 at the back.
Think we have some strength in depth at the back
RB Roberts and Gunter
LB Davies, Dummett and Taylor
CB Williams, mepham, Chester, rodon, Dummett

Dummett looked really solid to me and I wouldn't be upset to see him start in some of the qualifiers. As an added bonus he can play left back or CB, although probably not the pace to play LWB in a 5-3-2.

Think we have some strength in depth at the back RB Roberts and Gunter LB Davies, Dummett and Taylor CB Williams, mepham, Chester, rodon, Dummett I agree, granted it was only Trinidad, but he looked better than Williams last night. Someone mentioned he doesn't have the pace for LWB, but I disagree. If 5 at the back, him and Davies could rotate to give opposition something to think about. RB is an issue for me because I feel Gunter is getting poorer. Apart from the clearance last night I thought he was generally quite off the pace and seemed a bit unconfident, which is no surprise when he's not Reading's first choice RB. Apart from Roberts who else do we have? John? Sadly not good enough either imo. Don't forget to add Lawrence and Lockyer at CB ;-)

Must of been gutted not to start last night. Although Lawrence justified his selection.
Might need him at some point so hope his toys dont come out again

Must of been gutted not to start last night. Although Lawrence justified his selection. Might need him at some point so hope his toys dont come out again I was surprised he didn't start in the absence of Williams, but Lawrence is a natural left-sided central defender, and, as you say, he justified his selection. Dummett needs to be patient as the inevitable injuries and suspensions should afford him a chance sooner or later. The end of season double header don't conflict with his club commitments, so no reason for him to throw his toys out of the pram - yet.

Dummett is a left footer as well.

Dummett is a left footer as well. True, but more of a left-back than a left central defender. I thought he did well against T & T so no doubt he's a bit miffed not to play against Slovakia. But given his versatility he's likely to get his chance sooner or later - most probably instead of Davies. The fact that Taylor didn't make the final squad suggests Dummett is next in line for the left-back spot.

I think we'll see Dummet and Chris Gunter play a part in the double headers in June.

Absolutely superb game from Dummett today. He needs to be part of our first 11 plans based on his performance this season

Q: Has Dummett been dropped for a reason? Thought he was impressive vs Trinidad & Tobago earlier this year. Not aware of any credible stories that he has had a fall out with anyone. Wouldn't his experience be worth having,in Ash's absence?

Q: Has Dummett been dropped for a reason? Thought he was impressive vs Trinidad & Tobago earlier this year. Not aware of any credible stories that he has had a fall out with anyone. Wouldn't his experience be worth having,in Ash's absence? It’s almost certain that he has made himself unavailable once again rather than him being dropped. This dates back to Coleman’s days where he messed us about time and time again. Many have slagged Coleman off for his selections but it looks like he was right on this one, he’s just not interested

I guess RG may explain, if questioned about it, when he announces the squad officially today.
I'm not convinced that PD is as fickle as made out, and I'd sympathise with him about not having ever been given a fair run of games with Wales.

I'm not convinced that PD is as fickle as made out, and I'd sympathise with him about not having ever been given a fair run of games with Wales. He has been fickle, no doubt about that. He hasn’t had a run of games because we had better available most times. He’s even been quoted as saying that he is often called into the squad but not given a game unless someone gets injured, seemingly unaware that that is how international squads work(and club squads for that matter) The only time he can have cause for complaint is when James Lawrence came from nowhere and seemed to jump over him but that was only recently (and a mistake in my opinion)
