Ben Davies has gotten off pretty lightly imo, he was really poor against Belarus & wasn't particularly good at the Euros in my view. He needs to get more consistent football. I let him off a bit because he essentially got 2 assists. But yeah not up to his usual level, I agree now he's now 1st choice at Spurs he needs to go somewhere else. Think he can be a top to player in a side that utilises his strengths well. Especially somewhere he can play in a back 3 He'd be a brilliant addition to the squad at West Ham where David Moyes would get him playing to the best of his ability.

I agree, I thought Ben and Joe Allen looked off the pace. I don't get the criticism aimed at Allen. I've watched the game twice now, second time I paid particular attention to him because of the criticism on here which I was surprised at. Yes he made a couple of mistakes, but 90% of the stuff he did was good. If you watch it back, you will see there were plenty of tackles, interceptions and good passes. He was one of our better players

CG started again for Charlton yesterday in 2-0 defeat to Sheff Wed, for whom ex-Cardiff man (and Scotland international) Callum Patterson scored the second.
At least Gunts is getting regular game time now, more so than is the case with a number of other potential squad call-ups.

"Marvin Johnson had a good opportunity to make it three but his effort was well blocked by Chris Gunter" - from BBC match report.

Looked a bit emotional during the anthem and when Wayne was substituted last night.
I wonder if something was said about his future (last night being potentially his last game etc), or was he just realising that moments like that are going to become rare for him now as a lot of older players are going to be slowly phased out.
Still put in a good shift imo, but it is quite sad to think we may not see that bond between players (like Gunter, Ramsey, Wayne, Bale etc) again in Welsh football.
Think Page will still take him to the WC if we qualify though.

I think Gunter will continue to be selected for the next couple of years. People can scoff all they like, but the impact he has off the pitch on the squad dynamics is invaluable and no, I don't think he could offer that by popping along for a jolly without being part of the squad.

Someone made a good point (think it was Ledley) around the brilliant togetherness within this squad which needs to be carefully managed and handed down to the younger generation. Chris Gunter has a vital role in that, in making sure all the younger players get it and can facilitate it themselves after the senior players retire, so we don't reach a point where Gunts, Bale, Allen and Rambo all retire around the same time and suddenly that spirit we have isn't quite maintained. I think we're starting to see the likes of Ampadu mixing a lot more with the senior players, so hopefully that transition can be as smooth as possible

Wrexham, I can see it now Hope so! Me too, preferably in League Two where he'll help them get a successive promotion as he enjoys an Indian Summer for the last few seasons of his career

A bloke with very little ability or skill who has made a great living from football. Wish I had been him!

Would love to see him at Newport or Wrexham. Not everyone will see the value of him but whenever I hear him mentioned they say how important he is as part of the group for Wales. I don't care if he's involved as a cheerleader as long as he improves the team.

Watched the highlights back v Netherlands. He’s jogging back when he’s playing RCB, allowing Depay to stroll into the box to easily pick up the flick on. It’s the same story for the home game, he fails to close down the runner in the box.
It’s now becoming a regular occurrence that he’s making mistakes which are killing us.
We can’t carry him any longer, sentiment aside

Whatever happens Gunter will be there as a fan anyway. He’s no shoe-in for a place that’s for sure.

I still think there may be a place for him in the squad, but not against top quality opposition like this.

Pity, I thought he might have followed GB to the States for a new experience, albeit to a lower-grade club.
Maybe though he likes living in the Reading/London area, and that joining AFC Wimbledon need not involve a house move upheaval for him, etc?
Important thing I guess is that he's on somebody's books and that he will get games in during the months leading up to November (assuming he'll be on the plane to Qatar).
