flying via Amsterdam , you can fly from pretty much anywhere in the UK to Belgrade for between £150-£200 return. Use Transavia Amsterdam to Belgrade out Thursday back Monday is still only £90. Out Sunday (match-day) arriving Belgrade 2pm, is actually £10 cheaper... www.transavia.com/en-UK/book-a-flight/flights/search/

According to the latest FSF minutes, the game is virtually guaranteed to be in Belgrade:
apostlewelshfootie.proboards.com/thread/7661/minutes-latest-fsf-faw?page=1&scrollTo=128393 Serbia v Wales 11.06.17 – venue, allocation etc.
More will be known about this at the next meeting following the FAW site visit to Belgrade, the Serbians have only registered two venues for their fixtures both of which are in Belgrade, The Red Star Stadium which holds over 50,000 and the Partizan stadium which has a capacity of almost 33,000. A survey will be sent out to gauge the interest for this game and if necessary the loyalty scheme will be used but we expect to have enough tickets to satisfy the demand.

Even if the match will be played at the Partizan stadium (32k) we are sure to get as many tickets as we want, as the Serbian fans are boycotting their team. The Attendance v ROI was only 7,896. Attendance v Austria was only 14,200.

have any of you looked at the appartments in Belgrade? I usually go the apartment route, so much cheaper for what you get!

have any of you looked at the appartments in Belgrade? AirBnb has some stunning looking options some as low as £25 per night. Last time we stayed on a boat hostel and there were SNAKES.

Does anyone know where we can buy Serbian Diners From? Or do we take Euros or am I being a bit thick? Serbian Dinar is a closed currency (like the Ukrainian grivny) so you can't buy it outside the country. They wont accept Irish euro notes, but French euro notes are grand ;-)

Many thanks for that. We are arriving late so hopefully we will be able to get our hands on some. I am assuming the French euros was a piss take?

As i posted in the "Welsh Footie" category....
If anyone has missed out on match tickets for Dublin, there are still great prices on flights to Belgrade for our game in June. It's a weekend in Belgrade in the summer, so should be a good one.
e.g. from Birmingham Turkish Airlines out Sat 10/06 10:35 back Mon 12/06 09:15 - currently £192 per person (and I believe they'll even feed you and give you a couple of beers for that price).
Your travelling time will be longer, and the flight cost higher, but everything else will be far cheaper. In fact, I think 2 nights in Belgrade could be £50 cheaper overall (see estimated costs table below).
Prices per person based on 2 sharing
Dublin Belgrade Flight/Ferry £100 £200 Travel to airport & parking £50 £50 Taxi to/from airport £30 £15 2 nights hotel £80 £50 Match ticket £50 £10 10 beers £50 £20 4 meals £80 £40 TOTAL £440 £385
i.e. Dublin costs £440 total, Belgrade costs £385 total

If it helps, our price for Serbia 4 days 3 nights (Out Sat, back Tues) Current price is £360 with our Saver Deal but is almost sold out. Price will then be £375 for the final spaces.
Dublin is £275 for 3 days, 2 nights and there are a handful of spaces left
Details for both, along with Moldova and (in the next 48 hours) Georgia. wonkysheep.co.uk/walesfootball

Booked flights last night from Manchester. Going out on Thursday at 5.25pm with KLM to Amsterdam and then Air Serbia to Belgrade and returning on Tuesday on Air Serbia / British Airways via Heathrow, arriving in Manchester at 5pm.Cost was £198.Same flight on Friday nearly £270. Had originally intended booking with Easy Jet from Manchester to Amsterdam and then Transavia from Amsterdam to Belgrade which would have involved leaving Manchester at 7am on Tuesday and returning at almost 11pm on Tuesday before a 2 hour drive home and having to go to work on Wednesday.

Serbia is typical of a pretty poor country that has a lot of immigrants abroad with exchange offices pretty much everywhere. Having needed to convert money out there, I've shopped around a lot for conversion rates. Don't do more than £10-20 at the airport (or train/bus station, I seem to remember) as they'll screw you. There are some good ones in the centre, I always use the one in Balkan Bet on Terazije - on the right as you walk from the main shopping street to Hotel Moscow. Always a fair price. If you spot one, usually shouldn't exchange for more than 4/5din less than the daily actual rate. I'm off out there again tomorrow and expecting around 140:1, way down on the 167:1 I got when I moved there.

Journalist mate of mine in Belgrade said that they've agreed a deal with Red Star to use their ground for them all. Better ground for atmosphere but a much worse view. Also, (I guess FSF will waste public money on a trip out there and tell you all this) if you're disabled/have trouble walking on uneven surfaces, get to the ground early and walk the whole way around from the main entrance. To get to the away end - I assume it's the same as with Partizan and with Wales in 2003 - you have to cross a bit of dodgy grass and scrubland from the main road. They'd cut it back last time I passed by. Will have a look again next week as it's round the corner from my girlfriend's place.

It seems (from these random exchange websites) that its: 140 up to 142 at Paris and Aalta - to the Pound 123 to the Euro Thus, it makes no sense at all coming over with euros (as some suggested), as you'd lose out twice in fees. So stick with pounds and get a Travel Friendly credit card (eg Halifax Clarity). If you have PLENTY of dinars left over and you need to change back - it has been suggested on Trip Advisor that when changing back into EUROS, you lose less (about 1% as the rate is very solid) whereby changing back into pounds you tend to lose about 3% to 4% For those arriving on MATCH DAY, then being a Sunday I assume all banks and many exchange offices will be shut? www.menjacnica-panter.co.rs/index-en.php www.vipsistem.rs/kursna-lista.php www.paris.rs/www.menjacnicaalta.rs/

Really excited for this but I sense the atmosphere may be lacking due to Serbia's poor attendance figures. I foresee large blocks of the stadium empty.
On a positive note, we should get all the seats we want for this one though!

The Irish only sold 642 tickets for this and probably had less than 500 in the ground. Shall we show our Serbian friends what THE WELSH WALL is all about ;-) I expect a personal welcome from belgradeboy - I hope he isn't boycotting the match ...

I like to pick up a shirt when I'm visiting a new place. There's Hammarby of Stockholm in my wardrobe at the moment along with various others. Who are the locals club in Belgrade? I mean Torino as opposed to Juventus or Betis as opposed to Sevilla. I'm assuming Partizan.

As for small clubs, I really wanted to support one of them when I moved but there was no atmosphere to get me interested. OFK have a rich history but look like they'll be relegated to the 3rd tier this season and their fans are boycotting, Rad are the far-right team, Voždovac play on a shopping centre which is pretty cool, Čukarički are the first privately-owned team and won the cup 2 seasons ago. But all of them have very few fans. I've done a few lower down the pyramid but difficult to get any merch and they're largely locally-focused teams, although some have played in the SuperLiga.

Change it to Euros or change it with me, I'll be happy to take them off your hands haha! Exchange offices vary with regards to opening hours, I know the one I use closes early (5/6pm, I think) while another one I've been to is closed as it's in a small shop. Belgrade is one of the closest cities to a 7/7 culture that I've been to, so shops and things are open late during the week and work on Sundays - far better than London or New York imho. Kyiv, however, stands out!
