Some reasonable flights from Brum via German airports with Lufthansa for this one. If you don't mind an over-night in Barcelona, then Cardiff to Belgrade with Vueling is still only 130 Euro: Friday 9 june 2017 - Flight VY7223 - Cardiff (CWL): 15:30 Barcelona (BCN): 18:40 Saturday 10 june 2017 - Flight VY1286 - Barcelona (BCN): 13:00 Belgrade (BEG): 15:30 Not sure when EasyJet are releasing their Summer seats, but Jan/Feb prices for flights Bristol to Belgrade (via Geneva or Rome) work out at about £90 to £100 each way. Personally, I opted for a couple of nights in Las Rambles each way, with very decent flight times ;-)

The Irish fans are reporting that the police kept them at the stadium for almost an hour after the final whistle. considering its a 8.45pm ko, probably best not to try to catch any mid-night flights...
Also, seems to have passed incident free, which is great, considering the Irish were really lucky with both their goals...

Anyone get a bargain on Wizzair flights? Just checked - the afternoon of the day that they were released - and they are already £160 return!

I got £96 but that was with membership discount. I noticed they were around £155 before then. Wizzair often have one-day spot discounts so keep your eyes peeled.

Belgrade great city..............
Beer costs ..............cheap Food great Ladies............... beautiful People very friendly We not in NATO which got commented on at least 3 times
Had Green jersey all time was there and no hassle, did get stopped by guy who more interested in which Club supported, he reckoned West Ham had most supporters
Number of pub used but Three Carrots was best, cops outside most of the time, solely interested in making sure fans safe as they were chilled, or on Tuesday morn one asleep in car while one looking on.
Lions game on 10th June so if asked they will likely show.
Cops were interested in how many fans around in city as they checked the hotels and apartment places. Hotel was in warned me about travelling to ground as they concerned for my safety, was dark and raining so on #9 tram to stadium (with Maps of Basel in them) another guy told me the stop and insisted I do up jacket just in case. Never felt threatened.
Inside area we in holds about 6000, reality in whole stadium less than 10000 people there out of 55,000 capacity.................... was dark miserable and wet Lots of Robo cops on duty, they kitted out like them but they bored as we gave them little to do.
Kept in for 40 mins after, seems to be standard time as taxi driver said that on way back into city.
Best hotels other fans spoke of seem to be Tash . Argo . Holiday Inn.........some Airbnbs.
Got hotel to sort me a pick up from airport for 20 odd Euro which was great as no hassle, there is bus and Taxis and best advice on Taxis in airport was go to desk with TAXI in baggage claim and get voucher and then get first taxi rather than the undocumented ones (there are lots of dodgy ones).
Duty Free is buyable on exiting and baggage check is different.
Wales game is June and while Sun was very hot, Mon we had rain and pitch cut up badly within minutes of start, doubt that will be like that in June so if hot it could be a bit of a killer........................ bring the sunblock.
Enjoy

Thanks for the great input, OD. I can only wish we manage a 2-2 out there! adecolley - is there any way of finding out in advance when those flash sales are - or getting an email alert, from WizzAir or from any other airline alert site? I did notice that they have a lively feed on twitter and facebook - but, to my shame, I only ever look at those about once a month...

manulike wizzair do announce discounts and flash sales on their twitter account. They do tweet quite often so I double-checked to see if I missed a tweet about their Spring / Summer 2017 flights being on sale and they hadn't tweeted about that!

ryanair are doing flights from london stansted to osijek, then it is a bus from osijek to belgrade and it will all probably be under 100 pounds for everything, but it leaves stansted on 9th june and comes back on the 12th june. hostelworld is also a good place to check for really cheap hostels.

Wise words from Oscardelta on dodgy taxi drivers in Belgrade. They can be cunts. 2003 I was screamed at by a taxi driver who upped his price from airport by a bomb. And last year I was robbed by a taxi driver after hailing him cos I was late for my flight. £180 in wallet taken and I still missed the flight. Still love Serbia mind! 2012 trip was a heartbreaker. Incredible to think we reached a semi-final after being in some sort of crisis so early on in Coleman's reign - bit.ly/2cqSpsyAnd the police were so spooked by the prospect of fan violence that we got a 15-cop-car motorcade to the fans' game in Srem which had an all-female officiating team. Good day out - bit.ly/2c5oND1

I'm staying 9 - 12 at City Code B&B which is slap bang in the centre of Belgrade. 130 Euros all in. I'll be flying from my base in Manchester and they're currently looking at £190 with a connection in Frankfurt.

Wizzair 20% Discount today 21st September on flights to and from UK. For discount members only. Must admit that oscardelta recommended to me to join their discount club back in June. He said that after the forth ticket (even two returns) the membership would have already paid for itself... I even got an email form Wizz in july offering me to join their discount club for 20 euros (instead of 30 euro). Now, three tickets later ... I am sorry that I didn't listen ;-(

Can you use one persons Wizzair membership to book ticket for another person? If is possible, I might get one of these discount memberships. With Wizz Air its called a Discount Club. They have 'Standard' membership (€30) and GROUP membership (€50). The Standard one allows the MEMBER + 1 COMPANION to have the discounted benefits. The Group membership gives the same benefits for you+5 COMPANIONS. I haven't read the small print, but I assume that mean you must all be flying together. If you subscribe to their Newsletter, you should get plenty of offers, including 33% of membership and 20% off flights etc. Generally speaking, if you use it for 3 legs of flights a year, it will already pay off. If you use it for 2 legs plus baggage it also pays of. Remember that Wizz Air only allows VERY small bags on board for free (42 x 32 x 25 cm). The LARGE CABIN BAG (56 x 45 x 25 cm) which is equal in size to RyanAir free carry-on, will cost €10-15. checked in suitcases etc, can cost €20-25... wizzair.com/en-gb/information-and-services/wizz-services/wizz-discount-club#/

Hi. There's a group of us thinking of going to the away game next June (assuming it's confirmed for Belgrade). A few people have said to be wary there and have advised not to go on safety grounds. Any truth in that? How does it compare to any other away venue / city. Many thanks in advance for any info. Diolch.

Not a single bad word that I could find on the YBIG site. The FAI initially advised not to wear colours (tops, flags etc.) but the Irish that did wear them reported no problem at all. There is general apathy locally with their own national team (hence only 8k attendance in 52k stadium) but otherswise it seems as safe as any other place.

Thanks for the info. Diolch. Just waiting now for confirmation of the venue. We're thinking of flying to Budapest and onwards by train. Should be an adventure

Must admit at 2am on morning after match walking back to hotel from 3 Carrots I felt unsafe.................. sorry no that was Hungry so stopped for a slice of Pizza from an all night pizza place. At no time did I feel unsafe, cops were outside pub all weekend to ensure people were safe, at 2am as left 3 Carrots mentioned above 1 was sleeping in front seat of car and the other was keeping an eye out. Hotel reception warned me take taxi to game as may be unsafe, guy on tram 9 realised I was going to game (it was dark and raining) and pointed out stop and where I needed to walk and also asked me to cover up shirt and scarf. I asked him was it unsafe and he said No, but always get a drunk looking to cause trouble and want you to be safe in my city.
