Interesting interview with him which shows the work that the FAW trust and Osian Roberts do with the younger players in terms of educating them in the Welsh way and the influence that the senior players like Ramsey can have on dual qualified youngsters choosing to play for Wales www.arsenal.com/news/features/20160912/robbie-burton

Great article. Thanks. The lad says he is good at table tennis - that already puts him ahead of Bradshaw and Lawrence for a squad pick ;-)

Sean Goss (son of former Norwich and Wales international Jeremy) is set to move from Manchester United to QPR for 0.5m. He's 22 and a former England under 19s. It's the first I've heard of him and I'm not advocating picking him in anyway (not keen on players switching allegiance) but wondered whether eg. Brian Flynn ever looked at him or whether the sons of players who qualify for any home nation through being a UK passport holder, like I believe Jeremy Goss did, don't qualify?

Sean Goss no relation to ex welsh international Jeremy.

Couldn't find the youth / up and coming players thread. I'm sure there is one? might be good to pin one? Anyway, just seen dragonsoccer sharing a tweet by Robbie Burton who plays for Arsenal, saying he's been training with their first team. He's in our u19 squad so another one to look out for. He's another anglo with a Welsh grandad but is, in his own words, 'committed to Wales wholeheartedly'. 'My grandfather is Welsh, and I was approached by the Wales FA after a tournament at St George’s. We were asked to list what countries we’re eligible to play for, and Wales must have seen that I included them and showed an interest first. I was then asked to play for the under-16s - which I did. I enjoyed it immensely, and I was then involved with the under-17s and I’m now the under-19s. I was born in England and have been brought up in England, but the fact that I play for Wales had me cheering them on in the European Championships. The game against England was a bit of a tricky one at our house, but I was behind Wales because I have committed to Wales wholeheartedly. In the Wales set-up, the younger players feel involved and the fact that our former coach Osian Roberts is now an assistant to Chris Coleman makes us feel even closer.' www.arsenal.com/news/features/20160912/robbie-burton

I'm fairly sure that, were it not for Osian, some of Burton, Ampadu, Woodburn and Brooks wouldn't have committed to us. In that sense, he's probably done more for Welsh football than some of our greatest players!

I'm hoping the game will be streamed and was going to post it on here. He's an interesting on because I have no idea what kind of midfielder he will end up being. I've seen him more as an attacking mid. But recent reports / blogs have him more as a holding player. I would be delighted if he turns out to be the latter. Anyway he has had glowing reviews over the past couple of months. I think Page might be inclined to give him a shot as a no.6 in our dead rubber u21 games.

Crucially he has always said that the youngsters should experience both camps (in the case of Anglo-Welsh) and decide for themselves, whereas England opt for the pushy hard sell approach.

Born Dec 26, 1999. (Same birthday as club mate Aaron Ramsey) Central midfielder. From what I had seen before a couple of months ago he was an attacking mid, but has recently been deployed to sit deeper. Has played for Wales u17s & u19s and perhaps a turnout for the u21s isn't too far away. As far as I know he is still gunning for a pro contract at Arsenal. But seeing as he is now a DVP regular at 18 for them, that seems very likely. (The following article covers his pro status, but is a few months old...) arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/2018/01/16/robbie-burton-continuing-to-impress-for-arsenal-u18s/ Clearly he is on Wenger's radar also as he was one of five youth players flown out to Russia with the first team this week for the Europa League second leg with CSKA Moscow... www.arsenalstation.com/2018/04/11/photos-5-teenagers-train-with-arsenal-first-team-ahead-of-cska-moscow-clash/Hopefully he will play tomorrow evening and there will be a stream in Arsenal's youth cup semi second against Blackpool (currently 2-2 on agg).

Burton played and scored in the youth cup semi. Sorry there was a stream, but I didn't have a free evening to post! Think they play Chelsea in the final. Will try and remember to post a stream for that game...

Looks to be a great prospect - really good feet and a nice cross on him.

Things didn't quite pan out, as intended - but it sure looked good for the first 60 minutes of the tie ...
As for Robbie. Plenty of promise there. Slightly defensive minded mid-fielder, with plenty of grit and determination. More like Joe Allen than Rambo, although he certainly needs another 2 or 3 years to mature.
One for the 2022 campaign, without a doubt!

Was impressed by his cameo yesterday and he looks ready to be an u21 mainstay. He looked positive on the ball and always looked to play forward, which we have been lacking from our u21 midfielders of late.

Although it was only 30 mins - he combined well with Morrell and brought about the big push forward that created two golden chances for Broadhead and the pen.

Robbie played in both U23 matches since the International break. 35' as sub and then starting and getting 65' play. He is starting again tonight v Chelsea
Rambo's boots are quite big to fill - but he is making decent progress ;-)
