Newsflash, 9/10 promising youngsters will end up having fairly mediocre careers, if any career at all, irrespective of nationality. Look through Wales or premier league u21 teams in the past and you'll generally find that. Wasn't he like playing a few games for Arsenal seniors during pre-season a few years back? I'd say that's usually a sign of decent potential over u21 player lower down on the pyramid. Another Levitt..........................! Yeah think he took part in one or two pre-season camps, along with 7 or 8 other youngsters. So he must have been considered one of the better youth prospects. But even then the majority of those prospects won't make the top level. There's a reason why hardly any premier league club has more than one or two regulars that came through their youth system. Most will drop down until they find their level.

Think he's been unlucky with injury too. I liked his ambition going to Croatia, particularly Zagreb. But they are a top side who qualify for Europe so there's no shame in not making it there. I'd imagine the language barrier makes it hard there too. Either way I'm sure he could come back and play for a League Two club. At 23 he's not a prospect, but if he puts in 3 or 4 decent seasons in the lower league then he could end up being good enough for our seniors
Most important thing for young players is game time, as Terry Taylor has shown

It doesn't matter how much talent you have, if you're young and continually not playing there is a large chance that you'll lose enthusiasm and that will almost certainly have an impact on your ability as well as completely stunting your progression further.

Be great if he could. Thought he'd be much lower down the pyramid

Sounds like our Robbie has been to hell and back last two years with severe Meningitis ;-(( It is wonderful to hear that he is now on the mend and back training with Sligo in Ireland. I know that he kept in contact with Rambo - who now is officially the Save a Life Cymru ambassador. Hope to see you in USA/Mexico 2026, Robert!

According to reports (published in December) Robbie was released at the end of the LOI season (after he had signed a short team deal with Sligo) Thank you for update. I think that Sligo's next game is only on 16 February. Last playing minutes I can find for Robbie were for 7 appearances since the summer - played right thro til end of LOI season (end Oct). Just happy to hear that he has turned the corner and is back on the mend after such a devastating illness. www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-burton/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/404386/saison/2022/wettbewerb/IR1/verein/8780

Mad how he went from MOTM performance for Arsenal's first team on a pre-season tour & captaining their U23s to the 9th tier of the English pyramid in just 5 years
