Well depends. If you mean a BBC/ITV for Wales I'm guessing you mean an English language station for the territory of Wales independent to England's? Maybe if there was an independent Wales there would still be agreements between the UK (or former in that case) countries to have a joint broadcasting agreement. But if not and Wales created their own English language stations with 1.5 million viewers watching theres no way they could charge much as there'd be no competition for exclusive rights for the matches.
I'm guessing S4C get the Wales matches dirt cheap by only broadcasting in Welsh as they probably think they can watch it either way and at least we get some more money for it this way.

We have S4C surely that counts ? Or are you talking about a much bigger broadcasting company with several channels? Bale droed mentioned he wanted this in Welsh language. Well that market is extremely small 500 thousand tops. So it’s unrealistic to expect that.
Someone mentioned maybe if we were independent we could still have an agreement with BBC and ITV yet surely that’s what we have now with our own regional programming is it not?

Aberbeeg my point is really nothing to do with itv or bbc. I’m trying to say I wish we were an independent nation. I can’t see people in Slovenia enjoying the Croatia World Cup coverage , the people in Switzerland enjoying the French, thee Dutch don’t watch the German coverage, the population of Lithuania aren’t watching the Russian coverage they all have their own tv so why must we have television made for another country disguised as something called British? So on your points above I’ve taken a brief look of a few countries you mentioned. Slovakia tv is mostly state owned and 40% of its tv programs are from across the border in the Czech Republic. With regards to Lithuanian tv. Their main tv company has an annual budget of 1.3% of tax payers money which equates to roughly 48 million a year which provides mainly 2 channels and a radio station. currently S4C budget is almost double that and is paid for via the Government agreement. So in theory the Lithuanian model operates 3 channels on half of the money that S4C operates. 30% of which is music and 3% sport coverage. I’d hazard a guess the quality and content is much poorer than S4C. I think it’s pie in the sky wanting anything more than what we are currently served with when Wales simply wouldn’t be able to fund it. Would it not be better for S4C to maybe offer more programs in English therefore potentially catering for the 2.7 million extra viewers and increasing advertising revenue? ( I’m not even sure this would be allowed tbh but just thinking outside the box). I’m not going to compare Switzerland due to their vast wealth.

If broadcasting was devolved we could have coverage in English that wasn't produced in London. I hate watching us play on ITV the most, it's so clearly Tory run. Not that I've got anything against anglo-born players, but they do pick the most English sounding Welsh players for pundits, and that lends the view that the whole production is very anglo-centric on top of all the biases as well
The BBC coverage is better, but you can still tell it's a London production

I have to be honest with you. Some of the most cringe worthy tv sports coverage I’ve ever seen has been made by BBC Wales as well as ITV Wales. In my humble opinion Sky sports has been about the best all round Welsh coverage.

Yeah feels like the watering down of our content. Hal & Ash are both good pundits and very pro-Wales so I feel glad they are representing us, but would just like someone with a bit of a stronger accent sometimes

What I want is full devolution of broadcasting so we can make our own content and it be less of a pale/cringey imitation

S4C's coverage and social content is excellent and shows what can be achieved if broadcasting when out of London hands.
Nation Cymru is light years ahead of Walesonline's clickbait junk as another example.

Wrong. I don't speak Cymraeg and watch S4C, so do 1000s of people in the UK and all over the world where the rights to the best S4C programmes have been bought and distributed. That's where they get a lot of their revenue.
Nation Cymru is almost 100% in English so not sure what you're on about there.
