The chickens came home to roost. Shame. They were the template club everyone wanted to emulate. Very disappointing.

Huddersfield got 2 tough games, away at Chelsea 3 days after a very hard game v Man City. Chelsea are 2 points behind Spurs for CL with 2 games left. Man City had the Trophy lift on their minds. Huddersfield have had to travel. Chelsea haven't. Chelsea just beat the Champions League finalists who score tons of goals to nil. If Chelsea don't win fair play to Huddersfield, but I can't nothing other than a comfortable CFC win. Huddersfield struggle to score just as much as Swansea and have failed to score in 13/18 away matches this season. Donβt give up your day job mate ;-)

Huddersfield manage another unlikely draw so looks like Swansea are down. Theyβve made a few bad managerial appointments lately but really need to get the next one right to stop the rot. Someone who will utilise their excellent academy would be ideal.

Shit
Could be a blessing for the club in the long term. Hopefully they can use this to get their playing style back, trim some of the fat from the squad and rebuild. They have some excellent young players to come in. Oliver McBurnie looks a talent to me and I can see him tearing up the championship next year. Shame he ain't Welsh.
Think they really need to splash some parachute money on a really creative no.10 though.
It would be nice if some of these crooked shareholder cashed in their chips at this point.

Huddersfield have excellent team spirit, I can't see them failing to get a point from the last 2 despite the opposition. Swansea's only hope is to spank Stoke, but I predict they won't even beat them. If Huddersfield lose both games even by 1 then a Swansea win would see them stay up I think (?)Β This would negate the necessity to put loads on Stoke and a scrappy 1-0 would do. I think you misunderstood. I mentioned that Huddersfield's team spirit would gain them at least a point in the last 2, which would relegate Swansea (unless the spank Stoke and City spank Southampton). I take no pleasure in being right on this occasion. A crying shame but Huddersfield certainly deserved to stay up more.

Carvalhal deliberately opted to miss out the midfield - as he has done several times this season. The tactic was to launch as many balls into the box, against an admittedly suspect Southampton defence. This with no natural header of the ball. Carvalhal is in a long line of imposters since Laudrup left - more interested in setting up to counter perceived weaknesses in the opposition than developing a pro-active gameplan. Before we were brave with the ball - no we're just craven. I wouldn't overstate Hughes' tactical acumen - there was very little between two very limited sides, both playing dire football. The team that got their noses in front were always going to win - it just happened to be Southampton. Ultimately, Swansea have gone down because they have a load of shite players with little fight in them. Carvalhal did an amazing job to at least give them any hope of staying up.

If you saw Swansea play in the last few games you'd realise that Carvalhal is the latest in a long line of managers, from Monk onwards, who are pragmatists first and foremost and have gone against the club's DNA. With a manager willing to play possession football, Swansea's squad, poor though it is, is still better than several others in the Premier League. The club has been all over the place for season after season, focussed purely on the short term that the club's identity has dissipated to nothing. A football morality tale if every there was one, on and off the pitch.

So if Swansea are not renewing the contract of Carvalhal and need a new manager - therefore, there is a fantastic Welsh manager from Swansea on the market. Two + Two = Cookie!!!

He did a great job with Wales, a country he loves very much, maybe he can also be successful with a club he cares for. OK maybe he wont play the "old" Swansea way. There are not going to be many appealing jobs for Cookie after getting relegated with Sunderland, so if i was him, id snap this one up if offered.
Who would you prefer Alarch?

Swansea have been hanging on for the past few seasons. Someone at the club has crteamed a lot of money and sadly invested it very very poorly. You cant keep selling selling selling and buying shit sub standard players in return. Soon or later it will catch up with you (As Sunderland found out)
I see very little fight or backbone in the Swansea team and if there is one thing you need in abundance in the championship its fight/bottle/backbone.Without it the championship can be a very unforgiving league due to its relentless nature (again ask Sunderland).
I cant see many of those Swansea players enjoying playing at least another 10 or 11 more games a season and having to fight in every single one of them.

Leon Britton knows the Swansea way, maybe as an assistant to someone like Marco Silva would be an idea, another manager who tries to play a good style of football.

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal to leave at end of season www.bbc.com/sport/football/44064957

Someone who will utilise their excellent academy would be ideal. The only outright bad one was Bob Bradley. I fully believe Clement didn't do well this season because of losing Llorente and Siggy he just couldn't work out a way of playing without them. Carlos did well the first 2 months, when we had all our FA Cup replays, but since J.Ayew was sent off at Huddersfield we have struggled.

When they played and beat us 2-0 at selhurst way back in august i was impressed with the team. But its a shame they have been relegated im gonna miss the union jack on display when they come to Croydon lol
They need to start promoting some of the local youngsters to the team, some of these foreign players have no links to the clubs and the history they are just a bunch of trouble making mercenaries.

A football morality tale if every there was one, on and off the pitch. Swansea will require an experienced Championship manager to steady the ship if they do go down before going for someone more expansive. The squad is a complete mess who weren't up for the battle to stay in the division and the Championship has a tendency to chew up and spit out players who aren't up for a fight I can't see Swansea bouncing straight back into the Premier League, the best bet is to consolidate for a year, move on the deadwood, incorporate some academy players and go again

With all due respect (and much is due) not in a million years would I want Coleman as Swansea manager. Coleman's sexy 5-4-1 defend for your life football not do it for you alarch? Facetiousness aside if Swansea want to recover their identity Coleman would be one of the worst appointments imaginable. They may as well wait for Pulis/Warnock to get sacked and appoint them because they would at least be likely to get promoted

Nathan Jones is a good shout - he's Welsh, done wonders with Luton and from what I hear plays good football. When he took over, they were in danger of relegation and he went on to win 11 of the 22 matches. They ended fourth in the next season, losing 6-5 to blackpool in the playoffs, and finished second this season to get promoted. He's won manager of the month three times and they were the highest scoring team in england in december. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Jones_(Welsh_footballer)

There isn't a single manager in the English leagues outside the Premier League that I'd want appointed as Swansea manager, regardless of what their pedigree is. All I want is for Swansea to get its identity back - and that means appointing someone who plays a possession-based game, is young and innovative. Potter ticks all those boxes, but would be a risk for sure. I'd be nervous, but excited to see him get the job. It would be interesting to see how he would handle some of the Welsh youngsters coming through.

Emotional scenes. I guess Fabianski is off. Good to see he cares.
I had a look at the wage bill and length of contract of the players and bar a couple of high earners, the structure seems better than some seem to be saying. They are paying a lot of players 30k a week but those contracts don't run longer than two more years. I Think they should try and renew the contracts of Ki and McBurnie if possible. But I think they could make some money from player sales and sort that tired central midfield out and I can see them coming back up.
They key is the manager. Do they go for the man motivator type in Coleman, to lift the spirits and attempt to unite the club? Or do they go for a tactical guru and try and revert back to being the intelligent footballing side they were some seasons ago?
