Sorry wasn't clear, Ryan Shawcross is the eligible player but didn't want to receive pelters! I was really disappointed at the time with him being a solid Premier League CB, I think we were better off without him though. Can’t believe England were looking into him. I seem to remember an England game, dead rubber, already qualified, where the England manager at the time handed debuts to about four players to stop other countries getting them, one was Shawcross.

Good player in the reserves... never gets a look in for the first team, ask him to come along to your training, he’s on the bench for the first team that weekend, stays at the club because he’s finally getting a chance with the first team, goes back to the reserves the week after... I think all England have to do is make them believe, Jay Bothroyd for example.

Sorry, couldn't remember exact game, I think it was Roy Hodgson in charge and am sure he handed out a load of new caps, Shawcross who could have played for us, that lad Jenkinson who could have played for one of the Scandinavian countries and a couple of others. It was my belief at the time Roy by giving them a game in the England shirt was trying to tie them down. Sterling was another debutant as Jamaica were wanting him to play for them, also Zaha who obviously saw the light and jumped ship for Ivory Coast.

Jenkinson was also eligible for Finland & Sweden, and played youth games for Finland. Given that he switched back and fore between Finland & England I'm guessing he became ineligible with the last switch, whereby he played 1 game for them and was never capped again. I'm still bitter at Southgate for suggesting we're the ones who cap players once to tie them down. They do it so much more than us and I don't actually recall a time we've ever done it

He did hand out a lot of new caps, but it was in a friendly. Shawcross wasn't called up to that friendly to stop us from picking him, he'd already made it clear he didn't want to play for us. He was picked because he was on the fringes of the squad at the time, and those sorts of players often get opportunities in friendlies.

Shawcross was born in Rhyl but consistently turned down approaches.
Back on RND:
Nathan Jones intimated in a post game interview that it was RND's decision to change his loan, not Wilder's or our's. Put it this way, think his chances of RND getting in any future NJ Wales squad have significantly reduced because of this.

I can't claim to know the full details but I'd have thought he'd be keen to stay at Luton seeing as they've given him such a good opportunity, which essentially gave him a leg up to the seniors. Maybe it was the lure of playing with other Welsh squad members and developing chemistry with them?

I’d give Rhys the benefit of the doubt and presume it was done for the right reasons, hopefully not an issue with Nathan Jones anyway

My not so good memory tells me he was born in Chester and raised in Buckley, the same route as Danny Collins who obviously / unfortunately did play for us!

Just seen this.
Red card is fair enough I think, but a three match ban is ludicrous. I've seen much worse on the pitch which didn't lead to any bans.

Is he good enough to start for Sheffield United?

Is he good enough to start for Sheffield United? In the Championship definitely. Depends what happens with Enda Stevens/Ben Osborn. I'd be surprised if he jumped ahead of both - they could sell one and bring RND into the 1st team picture Equally they could see RND as someone they can make a profit on. Up in the air I'd say. RND has shown he warrants games at least in the Championship next season though

Maybe not be the end of this season, although I'd say the Championship has more Premier League quality teams than ever before, so it's a great place for development. Can't hurt to have a few years there at his age. There's not that many left full-back/wing-backs on the market, which is why I think eventually he will end up in the Premier League

Makes for a mean stand in centre back. Who would have known?

Interesting suggestion from Malcolm Allen, that he was being tested there for Tuesday evening. I think he may be onto something

Thought he was very good. He's quite a chunky guy so suits the role as well physically. After tonight I'd start Gunter and RND either side of Rodon Tuesday.

Makes for a mean stand in centre back. Who would have known? He has played centre back when on loan at Rochdale, not very often mind. Suits him well in a back three to be honest. It's another option at left sided centre back

Did well and an option for Tuesday, although he wouldn't quite be in my first 11

He’s going to be a valuable squad member with his competency at LCB and LWB. Great to see.

Listened to bits of the game against Swansea on the radio, and RND seemed to be playing very well - in an attacking sense as well as defensively. Looks like he's score a last minute winner tonight! Very encouraging if he's developing the attacking side of his game. Definitely pushing for selection!
Edit - scrap that. Went down as an RND goal on BBC sport initially, but has since changed to a Ben Davies goal. Doh!

Starts in the play off semi second leg. Wouldn’t be surprised he gets on the pitch for us during the five games in June. May even start in Wrocław.
