Left back / LWB
Born: April 22, 1999 (age 19 years)
Was impressed again with this lad Vs Georgia. Very positive on the ball and few outstanding crosses into the box. I'd be keen to see how he defends against really good forward players before I can get too excited. But encouraging and could be an u21 mainstay for a couple of years.
Anyone know why the Swans let him go? I reckon they might be regretting that decision now.

RND getting training and game time with the first team this pre-season. Still a lot of Welsh interest at the blades it seems (Freeman back on the scene too now). Wilder has said in a recent interview that he rates Rhys and may look to get a loan for him.
A few weeks old this vid...

Great move, hopefully he can provide adequate backup to Davies for the next couple of years. Wouldn't surprise me if he made the squad at some point in this campaign if he can nail a starting spot at Luton.

His addition to the squad would also allow a 5 at the back as a Plan B, as he’s adept at wing-back and also previously played as a left centre back in a 3, much like Davies.

Great move! Luton the new Charlton for 20-21
Agree it wouldn't surprise me to see him in the squad if he can get consistent minutes
Will he come in as a starter or be a back up?

Great move! Luton the new Charlton for 20-21 Will he come in as a starter or be a back up? Would be shocked if he didn't start to begin with. We have 2 other LB's, however: Dan Potts - apparently has a 'freak' injury and will be out for a while. Brendan Galloway - coming back from a serious leg break and nowhere near fit. Sam Beckwith is a youth team midfielder who has been starting there all pre-season by virtue of him being left-footed and there literally being no-one else. He did rather well against Northampton, however, I can't see RND not starting the season.

Unsurprisingly seeing as he is the only one that is fit.
Played well by all accounts but lost his man for the sitter that Barnsley missed when they should have equalised.

Got the assist for the Luton goal! Was a gorgeous cross too! Does he look like a good prospect then? Do you think he could deputise for Davies?

Was a gorgeous cross too! Does he look like a good prospect then? Do you think he could deputise for Davies? Without having actually watched him play myself, he seems to fit the profile for a call up. 14 caps at U21 level, 3 senior loans which have now culminated in Championship football. Has started the season as a regular (I assume he’ll play the next 2 before the international break), these are all ticks in Giggs’s boxes. I think he’ll be second choice behind Davies for this upcoming camp & Giggs will take a look at him to assess. Gunter may still get a call for this camp as additional cover given we have 3 games. But if Giggs likes the look of Norrington-Davies, it could be the end for Gunts. We could see Neco/Roberts & Davies/N-Davies as the full back pairings for a long time

Also a RND call up will make it 2 RBs n 2 LBs.

I don't see the need to rush him into the next squad after just 2 championship games (and potentially 2 or 3 more). Giggs should already have a fairly good understand of where he's at, given he's been playing under Page a lot for the u21s. I'd rather wait until he has a fair bit more gametime at that level

Giggs should already have a fairly good understand of where he's at, given he's been playing under Page a lot for the u21s. I'd rather wait until he has a fair bit more gametime at that level I guess it's more to do with Giggs's willingness to play our young players than anything else. We'd have all said there's no need to start Ampadu against Ireland (H) in the Nations League because he wasn't playing for Chelsea. Now though we've learned certain players don't necessarily need that to get on the pitch for us. In the case of RND I think it's more that we don't currently have a natural backup LB (Gunter being the pick for that position in the last camp), and that he's played senior football at lowers levels too, whilst also being a mainstay in the U21s. This all suggests that he likely won't become suddenly overwhelmed by the Championship & these first few games are just an indication that he's moved up a level and is worth consideration now

Another assist and a MOTM performance from the chap. Another gorgeous cross too. His toughest game defensively but managed to get through it. Definitely a good Championship full-back already.

First look at young Rhys for me on Sky tonight. Had a bright start, very vocal and assured against some experienced players for Man U.

Did I hear the commentator say he went to a prestigious school in Croydon?
Call him up to the next squad Ryan.

Yep - born in Saudi Arabia & raised in England, with 1 parent Welsh so he's eligible for all 3 countries. I'm guessing the Welsh parent is the Davies & the English parent is the Norrington. Either way he seems to be another feather in the FAW's cap based on this

Sounds like he considers it as ‘home’.A well traveled fella

I know i’ve said in the thread already and it’s only a few championship and cup games, but from his displays and our dearth of options at LB, he should be in the squad over Gunts. Furthered by the fact we have 3 games to navigate this break.
Are the u21s still in contention to qualify for their Euros?
